"cut loopholes" are you serious? They (IO) make money from this and that's the only reason they (the agents) are still allowed. Personally I wouldn't recommend setting up a permanent relationship including house/s and car/s using agents. They won't last long.
Mr Chang, one of Pattayas original visa agents has been around for 20+ years to my knowledge. Those who do not know the name, just look to the left of the immigration car park in Jomtien.
How long do you think is ''won't last long.'' ?

It's not agent-breaks which are the problem. I don't care if they want to run a sideshow and pocket tea-money from those who choose to play that game for whatever reason.
It is the "unofficial requirements" that are stuck like knives in the backs of honest applicants (and those with valid visas, in other contexts) - good folks who are obeying the laws as written - to coerce them to use agents - which is the problem.
They would, if they chose to look at the account-history - as they do for every in-person application.
According to a statement by the head-honcho, agents are "fooling" IOs with the bank-letters - somehow using some sort of hokus-pokus to keep the agents from checking for money-seasoning, whenever an agent submits an application.
are you an American Jack?

So, effectively doing an "unofficial change" of the rules from 2-mo seasoning to 3-mo - or even 4-months, in the case of the OP.
That should drive up agent-submitted faked-money applications (as designed, if history is a guide), since many using the "money in the bank" method may need to spend some of those funds "to live" during the interim.
Give it a break please Jack, after thousands of posts and your hateful attitude towards agents somehow woven into every response we get it.

There was a 400W Q3 Mitsubishi water pump in Collingbournes auction last Saturday, Its the commercial model that when new was nearly 14,000 baht and the current Q5 model costs 20,000 baht
it provides lots of pressure in a big house, much better than the 7000 baht 300w ones
there was a bill on it for a recent service costing 1700 baht
i think it had a reserve of about 5000 on it, so it night well be worth looking at that one , fit yourself and repair the old one at your leisure

There is another well known shop in town that I won't mention where I trusted them for that (they even rejected my doc's scrip, insisting on using theirs) and it ended up being totally wrong.
its not like its a service to pay for , he does it every time i go there unless its a follow up, he does not rely on a visit that may have been some months ago to make new glasses
he has made me glasses specifically for driving, for looking a computer screen with a fixed distance between the glasses and screen, reading glasses and and prescription lenses to my sunglasses
used him lots as has my visiting family members
like i aid i would not dream of going anywhere else

Does he actually offer lens prescriptions or do people mostly go in there with a scrip from a doc?
he does his own eye tests with machines and then manually with lenses like the old days

Yes, thankyou for asking, where is the brothers girlfriend ( mother & mothers daughter) gone?
im glad there gone, they were rude.
Is Dave’s brother still there?
Dave was great and knew how to run the business before giving it over to his newly arrived brother.
where is the brothers girlfriend ( mother & mothers daughter) gone?
i will not say, its a personal matter (for Thaivisa speculators it does not includes, theft, sex, alcohol, drugs, harassment, pornography, blackmail, murder or any other sullied opinion , you people with nothing better to do can make up)
im glad there gone, they were rudei have never found them to be so
i treat people as you wish them to treat you
Is Dave’s brother still there?
yes
Dave was great and knew how to run the business before giving it over to his newly arrived brother.
he leases it to him as David is in a wheelchair but visits every other day or two to hold court,
i think it was a sound decision, surely better to family than outsiders
at least the books are organized and categorized now, you can find a book without spending hours looking

Is that not one of the things I am referring to?
you asked, i told and that modification to Tourist Visas has been in place for nearly 3 years, hardly a recent constantly changing change you think you were referring to

Is Dave (big guy I think now in a wheelchair?) not the owner anymore then?
Dave owns the rooms still, leases the bookshop to his brother, the girl and the mother are no longer there and Dave is in a wheelchair and appears every 2-3 days for a gossip.
anything else.........?

Canterbury Tales bookshop changed hands last year.
I never bother going there anymore.
Because its so hot in the bookshop I used to like choosing my books then buying a coffee from them and sitting down at the table to choose which ones im going to buy, cant do that anymore.
As soon as i did the thai girl & her Mother who now run the place ( funded by the newly found farang who is the brother of the original owner) rushes over to me to tell “ “;No can sit look at books !!!!!!!!
“well ok “ i said, new rules?
leaving the books on the table along with my coffee.
She then said ‘ you must put all books back !!!
yeah right ,bye bye
the girl and the mother are no longer there but i expect its still not a free library

-
yes they buy them but do not expect much 20-30 baht maybe
-
close it then Ubonjoe, it just clutters up a changing landscape even more
-
Use TM28 & TM30 forms to register your presence at the the house then apply for a residence certificate afterwards
if you have not done this already then be prepared to pay a fine

i took a lady who is normally wheelchair bound to immigration in Jomtien once and the immigration officer came out to the car to deal with her rather than her have to get out and get into the wheelchair for a few minutes paperwork. There are some kind hearted IO's despite many opinions to the contrary

Non-paying loan shark victim runs to police
in Pattaya News
Posted
not only Thai loan sharks, they may front it but i know of one british loan shark who loans out money through his girl and her sister
He charges 20-25% interest and laughs about the suffering it causes the debtors, he says its a gift that keeps on giving, they never get to pay it back. He is never around but i confronted her on it and she said she was helping people, i said don't try and come off like some kind of philanthropist, you are trading off your family, friends and other villagers backs with money from your falang. i hope you lose it all and finish up in a ditch with him . Usual threats were forthcoming but nothing happened.
