  1. Just look at any School at home time, maybe 5% wear helmets and as for the Teachers I have yet to see one, fancy uniforms with medal ribbons, but helmet , no.
Strict enforcement by Police will not happen,  too dangerous , try living in a village where you have fined everybody 500 baht, do you really think they would survive ?.

Education is the only way but I am certain we will all be gone before anyone with the ability to influence the powers that be appears.

usual simple answer, this is Thailand .

Exactly. My early Xmas present was denial of my swollen MBP battery claim. They replaced it on AppleCare precisely one year before when it was still in warranty. Now they won't back their batteries even for one year!

This is not the Apple we knew & loved!

I note that you are in Bangkok, are you dealing with Apple direct via the Store, if so that’s extremely disappointing.
In my previous post I related the tale of my iMac being sent to Bangkok three times without effective repair. The authorised repairers replaced the screen, no change , second trip replaced the main board, no change, third trip seemed to do nothing. The most annoying part apart from being without the iMac was they ruined my original box, I was most annoyed.

The Apple lady in the Phillipines who was handling the case applied twice for a replacement and was refused , I got my Daughter in Sydney to go into her local Apple Store and see what they said, they were horrified and said that at local level they would have organised a replacement in one day. Different countries and different attitudes and better consumer laws.

The problem I now have is the infamous pink edged screen on the two year old replacement, I don’t fancy my chances of getting it replaced but I am going to try, wish me luck...

My first Mac was 1986, in 2011 I bought a MacBook Pro slightly upgraded and it was not cheap, a beautifully designed unit with unfortunately a useless Chip that failed in the majority of them including mine.

It reminds me of a comment from some Astronaut saying we are sat on top of a rocket comprised of parts from the cheapest supplier, Apple seems to be similarly guilty, a pity.

Buy the warranty, you very possibly will need it.

no Sir, the moral  is,  never drive a gas powered car.  They are a death trap in any kind of accident , be it  your fault, or someone else's.

In my past life in Queensland I used to assist a mate who fitted gas to vehicles professionally, I stress professionally. Tanks had to be tested to Australian standards and fitting supervised by a licensed / qualified mechanic who was legally liable for any faults. Many crashes happened but unless the tank itself was punctured very , very few fires, you could cut the supply lines and immediately after the release of pressure safety valve would close. After having said all the preceding there is no way I would ever have a car with gas in Thailand, why ? , does anyone here read the instructions...

so I was told on this forum, just today, that travel between provinces was now allowed with no restrictions?  Wrong again.  I do wish people would not just make it up as they go along. It's like a virus on TVF.  This forum is so full of misinformation and wishful thinking that it's almost useless as a primary source of correct intelligence, unless its UbonJoe or Sheryl giving their take on things.

I consider it amazing that we have two consistently accurate people on this site, we must be lucky ! ????

  5. Back in the eighties I used to build Exhibitions and at the Canberra Office Expo Canon brought the super duper colour copier. It required three phase power and a Technician in constant attendance and a official log book for every copy, no exceptions. As part of their demo the crew printed some hundred dollar notes in A3 size, I managed to get two for my Daughters and thought no more about it. The following week I got a call asking me to return the copies as the Federal Police were involved and every copy had to be returned and destroyed, much fuss over nothing but that was the law. A few people managed to put some good copies out but nothing major, today it seems any mid range unit is capable, check your change !.

P S anyone want to buy H P ink tank, copies anything perfectly, no cash thank you, only verified bank transfer...

    Lots of money swilling around.

A Bt54-million budget for renovating a restroom on a VVIP plane is “reasonable” said the RTAF. (Matichon)

RTAF bought the plane from Thai Airways International.  Lots more planes available that not many other countries want, and generous budget for changes to each one can be explained away.

That is less than two million dollars, many years ago I remember the US airforce paying twenty thousand dollars for an ashtray in a Lockheed aircraft, approx two thirds of a million baht so fixing a loo is quite cheap.Seriously the kickbacks will no doubt inflate even this price...T I T...

Because they are not recording them as covid deaths. I read a while ago that there is a big increase in influenza recorded deaths in Thailand plus old people and the sick who die dont get autopsies the same as in the west they are just taken to the temple and burnt and they are Covid bread and butter.

I live in an area where everybody seems to know everybody else and talking to people, not reading reports, nobody has died of Covid that we know. I am not doubting that COVID is around and take precautions as I am in the age bracket for problems if I catch it. We have three mosques and two Wats within a few km and none of them have had any unusual spates of burials or burnings, it is extremely puzzling.

The only person who I know of who died was my Cousin in the UK, she was 84, admitted to Hospital, told that her chances of surviving the necessary operation were extremely poor due to existing heart condition. She elected to go ahead and survived for four days, officially she died of COVID contacted in ICU, nothing mentioned of initial prognosis.

I am definitely not a conspiracy theorist but haven’t a clue how Thailand has escaped mass deaths seeing we hosted so many Chinese before the shutdown.

  8. I suppose it makes a good headline but do you really think anyone would be jailed for not paying excess baggage. He was the top man in the organisation and no doubt he would have no hesitation in overruling anyone who questioned him, he was the Boss.
It is obvious that he has definitely upset someone with power and this is the result, don’t worry about him too much , he will no doubt evade any unpleasantness. Money talks and he must have a good fund for emergencies gained over the years of commissions.

For anyone waiting to buy an M1 mac - when they do become available DO NOT BUY FROM RESELLERS STUDIO 7/iSTUDIO.

They don't honour Apple's warranty so their receipt is basically worthless. You may as well buy from one of the cheap IT malls where most everything is a counterfeit product. They try to look like a legit outfit as if they're somehow affiliated with Apple - they're not. Only order from the official Apple store. There is no saving to be made buying from the iStudio cowboys anyway - just a big headache if something goes wrong.

I must disagree, I had a warranty claim with Apple last year and the Krabi branch of studio 7 could not have been more helpful, they sent the iMac to Bangkok three times and always kept me informed. I bought an iPhone which went faulty eleven months after purchase and again a prompt replacement, they provide a pretty good service in this area.

because no one believes em. the uk only put them on their travel corridor about a month ago, despite thailand claiming they have been covid free for at least 3-4 months,go figure

I didn’t believe them either, been in Thailand too long to trust any government figures but as I said nobody has died that I or extended group of friends knows.

The only person I know was my Cousin in the UK who at the age of 84 was taken into Hospital for an emergency and was given a 5% chance of surviving the operation, she had the op .supposedly caught COVID in Hospital  but was classed as a COVID death, ignore the first prognosis?...

  11. I currently live in Thailand and have relatives and friends in Australia, UK and New Zealand who are being locked down or otherwise restricted in their everyday lives.

Here in Thailand I don’t know of anyone who has died from COVID and this extends to areas where friends live. The lack of testing is often raised but lack of transmission is a mystery if people are unknowingly positive.

All the precautions I take is wearing a mask in shops and Malls and washing hands and generally be aware to not take obvious chances. All in all it seems that Thailand has managed to avoid the deaths by the banning of outsiders as have all our neighbours and in my opinion they have done a very acceptable job.
