I have just tried reading the full story, I haven't a clue what I read. The ideas are totally alien to me, am I the only one ??
I have just re read it and see it is attributed to the woke persons bible, The Guardian UK.

To those of us who have always worked on the idea that everyone deserves a fair go black lives matter is rather jarring. ...... I have just deleted most of my post as I realised that whatever I say or think it doesn’t matter, leave them to destroy themselves.... your life matters, so does mine.

I watched the Hong Kong riots with dismay and have now been watching the same thuggery in America. Protesting according to your beliefs is one thing but vandalism, looting and attacking Police with potentially deadly force deserves an equally harsh reply.
What amazes me is the makeup of the so called protestors, in the most violent clashes the number of white females is astounding, they certainly cannot be called Ladies.
As to Police brutality there is no doubt some of them have been pushed too far and I have watched videos of them being taunted, threatened and spat on , if they give that person a splash of face paint ( mace ) I know it is wrong but I couldn’t condemn them.As a non American I will not comment on your politics but for the sake of your and our future I hope you get your act together.

One of the most impressive American monuments is the Lincoln Memorial, has anyone bothered to educate themselves as to his attitude to slaves regarding their rights and restrictions. When I first read it I was very surprised but on reflection it was an attitude of the times.
I am sure that any attempt to remove his statue would be fiercely condemned even if they have a POC as mayor.

.....a result of your twisted understanding of history. It's miles away from reality. It's not possible to have a clean-up in your heads but even for your young ones you try to hold the praising time of a great empire. That ends up with a Brexit. You old ones are not able to reflect your own history and will not give a chance for change for the young ones. ????
May I ask the level of your education regarding economic history, I researched the subject and came to a rational conclusion that in some instances the long term benefits outweighed the short term losses.
I do not excuse the numerous wrongs but we live in a world shaped by events that happened centuries ago, some require change , others should be regarded as lessons.

My major for my A levels was European economic history, would you care to hear about the French, Dutch, Belgian and of course the Spanish. Britain was far from lily white but all things considered we were mostly beneficial.

The teaching of British history, and particularly the history of the empire is abysmal, hardly if ever addressing the abuses the British perpetrated on those they had subjugated.

Eight of the first ten Presidents of the United States was a Slave owner, are the progressives going to remove all trace of them.
This is getting out of hand, how can a normal ,sensible, educated person at University be triggered by a Statue of Rhodes who’s bequest funds the Rhodes Scholarships, possibly the most prestigious educational award.
Pulling down a statue of a slave trader in Bristol, painting Churchill’s statue, this is just vandalism, we can learn from the past but we shouldn’t attempt to rewrite it.

This report tends to support the understanding that the news we read has to reflect the opinion of the vocal minority. Send in the troops to quell the out of control looting seems a logical suggestion and the opinion that buildings, the loss of jobs and the cost to the public purse matters is important. Neither of these comments suits the bleeding hearts who take to Twitter, the newspaper’s Owners are there to make money and the fear of loosing advertisers makes them fold and only report what certain people wish to hear.
The press always claim freedom of the press is paramount but can’t they see they are only pandering to the vocal minority who will mercilessly crush any dissent through the power of social media.

Hate to sound like a Millennial but most smart phones have an app to measure angles, and they work, much to my surprise.
Plumb bob and string is the answer when the phone dies.

Now that is an excuse for a crash that is acceptable. Well done to the Lady for keeping her head and not causing a major incident, very rare occurrence.

There is a common term in Australia, drive it like you stole it, applied to all rental cars and bikes. In other words, do you really think a renter gives a damn about your bike. As suggested you would be better off finding somewhere to safely store it.

All this talk about political parties is only window dressing, remember, power comes from the barrel of a gun and who do you think has his finger on the trigger.

Watch out for chikungunya, I had it last year and it was the worst illness I have ever had. Same precautions as Dengue, cover up , clean up surroundings and apply bug spray liberally.

Do we really expect this to be more than a rearrangement of deckchairs on the Titanic.
Who will be brave enough to remove the connected ones, only one person has that power.

5 minutes ago, Susco said:Maybe I missed it, but has there been any update on the Declan guy, as from previous threads it had become clear that he was a very bogus type of person?
My thoughts also, last week people were digging up many references to him and he didn’t come across as a knight in shining armour.
This whole thread has now developed into criticism or compassion for the old chap with very little questioning of the hows and whys of his “ seemingly rescue “,.- 2

My pet hate with Thai drivers is overinflated tyres, scooters with 50 lbs sq in and vans and pickups with 70+. I have commented a few times and cheerfully been told, “go faster”or “not use gas”, the tread contact area is reduced and in the wet they aqua plane even at a reasonable speed if care is not taken. Now I will shut up, nothing will change, the carnage will continue, to all of you, be aware , be careful, T I T.

Too many factors to compare if I am overpaying, location seems to be the biggest factor. When did she buy the land as prices have shot up over the past 5-10 years
land was bought about four years ago, it is in a small village approx 20 mins from Somdet near Lam Pao. The road it is on starts at the main road and ends at a Dam on the river and there are only four houses within 1 Km, well above rice fields with slight slope heading down to river. I was sorely tempted to build the Mansion but when I die what will my wife do with it, the area is littered with beautiful homes of many styles but they can't sell them or afford the upkeep. I am renting and when I do depart my wife will have the funds to support herself and she can do what she likes, meanwhile I am enjoying life.
Just for your information a block, about three Rai, in the adjoining village overlooking rice fields but filled to a level above the road and about ten minutes from Somdet supposedly sold for two million, I can't be certain of the size, it looked pretty big but absolutely featureless but with views for miles. Good luck, I hope it turns out well for you...

My wife has a plot of land In Kalasin area approx two rai which she had been saving to buy for years. When I came on the scene I was amazed at the seemingly cheap price so of course gave her a couple of thousand dollars to complete the purchase. I toyed with the idea of building the usual Falang mansion but looked into the legalities regarding tile of land and stepped back in horror at the lack of legal title and the complacency of local authorities. Result is she gets a small income from it every year as crops are grown but has a lot of pride that she owns something. For interest it is on a secondary surfaced road with water and electric at the gate on a slight slope with a river about a kilometre away, a few tall trees and usually growing cane or sweet potatoes, cost 100,000 baht

The above question is valid, forty years ago I would have considered myself to be totally colour blind but my experiences rather disillusioned me.
