  1. rawhide was not one of the 'arab bars'. it is closed right now. sahara is gone, it is something else now, but i think there is a sahara sign in front of deja vu. did sahara become oasis ? i've seen some girls in front of midnite but it isn't open every night. i think deja vu also has some girls but kiss, spice girls, and rio seem dark. per one comment here, dollhouse is worth a visit although they did raise the happy hour price to 110thb and i think they reduced the happy hour to 9pm (9:30 or 10pm before). geisha is a good spot in nana, take a look at the small jacuzzi area. i think it is 170thb for drinks there. maybe 200thb for lady drinks, i don't pay much attention to the pricing.
  2. i got a 90 day O august 2021 from CW. went back to do one year extension in mid october 2021 and only had to supply the bank book (plus copies of the pages). no statements. same when i did the first renewal of the one year in oct 2022. i originally had an O that had expired as i'd been outside thailand for awhile.
  3. Oasis on cowboy is a 'normal' bar/pub (no ladies on stage). food is good. they have pool tables upstairs. this is close to the soi 23 side of cowboy. fairly short walk from your hotel. there is a pedestrian overpass to cross sukhumvit at soi 18. past cowboy on soi 23, i like a place called Craft. it is an outdoor beer garden of sorts with a wide ranging menu (mainly western though). the craft beer is expensive (+/-300thb for a pint) but non craft beer is available (150thb). most nights they have a DJ that plays some music. across 23 from Craft is the Clubhouse, standard pub type place. i believe they also have pool tables upstairs.
  4. the hospitalizations are probably related to the edibles. if you don't know how much is in the edible, it can be a problem. and others probably don't know how much is too much and eat too much. they learn the lesson the hard way. some people don't handle the edibles very well, regardless of their strength. as a member pointed out, it can trigger anxiety/panic attacks. not a fun side effect.
  5. law firms can help to get bank accounts. maybe siam legal has a representative in the OP's area ?
  6. the first time i went to CW to do this i was expecting the non O to start the day the stamp was placed in my passport (this was 2017). i was trying to get my annual extension to be a mid june date. i was surprised when i got my passport stamped and the non O began on the date of application (early march), so i ended up with may 31 as the annual extension date. the second time, it was the same way. i went early august to apply and got oct 31 (per my previous post) it may vary, i'm not sure, but it was the same the two times i did it (2017 and 2021).
  7. i've done the visa exempt to 90 day non O to one year extension at CW twice. the 90 day non O begins on the date you apply, not two weeks later when you get the actual stamp in your passport. your one year extension date will be 90 days from that date you apply for non O. as an example, i arrived in mid july (45 day exempt entry), i applied for the non O on aug 3, oct 31 is my annual extension date.
  8. if you go to CW in person, it is possible you will not be fined. i did a 90 day report a couple weeks ago, i missed the previous two 90 day reports and was expecting a fine. i even told them i failed to do my last two as i handed them my form and passport. they immediately said 'no problem, no fine'.
  9. my usual pharmacy on sukhumvit btwn soi 20 and 22 did not have lispril. i tried one down soi 22 and they had several boxes of the 20 mg tablets. i take 5 mgs so that box will last quite awhile.
  10. i experienced the dry cough side effect from lisinopril. it went away after a few weeks. but it was very annoying while it lasted. thanks for the update on lispril. i'll take a look at my bkk pharmacy very soon and report back if i am able to get it.
  11. i prefer BKK. i like living w/o a car or moto. easy to get around walking and using BTS/MRT. i tried pattaya and phuket and the transport options weren't great. the beaches weren't very clean. and alot of 'hawkers and scammers' there, in my face all the time. i don't get that much in BKK, maybe more than i do when i spend time in buriram. but a hell of alot less than pattaya and phuket (patong, kata).
  12. have you considered benjakitti park, which is very close to asoke area. it might not provide the same quality bike ride in terms of distance/speeds but would be alot more convenient. i haven't been there since they remodeled it but i know it it is much larger than it use to be.
  13. try looking around on https://www.hipflat.co.th/en i'd consider phra khanong. BTS to the airport express (transfer to MRT at asoke and ride one station). you could taxi at times of low traffic.
  14. i feel sorry for the tourists getting overcharged all the time. but most of us who live here have figured out the system and get by ok. you can take BTS/MRT, wait for the taxi that agrees on the meter or take the first one that comes by (usually with the inflated, no meter rate). it really depends on your patience and your situation at the time. are you in a hurry ? is it worth 50thb extra, you will pay 100thb instead of 50thb ? or is it an airport ride and you'll pay 200 extra on top of the 300thb. grab is an option, i've used them a couple times. a recent thread pointed out they are more expensive than the meter taxi but maybe the same as the 'no meter' rates. i live in btwn terminal 21 and emporium about 200m from sukhumvit and i use BTS/MRT the most, taxis home late at night and to the airport - i rarely get a meter option on the late night or airport journeys. at least the no meter rates are generally the same amongst the taxis, i kind of feel like it is the 'normal' rate i pay it so often.

you could try the clubhouse on sukhumvit soi 23. they have multiple screens. they don't play music so for certain TV events, the sound of the TV is on.
  16. i've stayed at rinradee and sita princess. in the same area is tulip hotel, which has a somewhat popular restaurant - muang pizza (but has a full menu of western/thai). their rooms are bigger than rinradee and sita princess and the pool is better. there is another restaurant on same street as tulip, called book and bed. i ate at the two restaurants while staying at rinradee/sita princess, easy walking distance. tulip will be more than rinradee but maybe worth the difference.
  17. it does help me with sleep. i have also seen the rather expensive options here in bkk. while i did buy those, i more recently used lazada and got more reasonable pricing. i got 3mg tablets once and would take two. later on i got 5mg tablets and take one.
  18. i'm planning to stop by the viet embassy in bkk, in the next day or two. i live a couple BTS stops from there and just want to clarify what is needed to enter before i book my tickets/hotel. i have been there many times for a visa (US citizen). in my experience, it is rarely crowded but you do need to submit before 11:30am and pick up at 4pm. i think that has been standard for quite some time.
  19. were you on EVA's 777 or dreamliner ? the new dreamliner business class looks pretty nice (via pictures). i am flying to USA on the dreamliner for a one month visit in october.
  20. i've done the visa exempt to non imm O at CW twice. the most recent was august 2021. the checklist of items needed can be a little confusing. it always helps to check in here on the forum in advance. the bank letter has been required both times that i did it. also, the two week wait period was in place both times that i did it. the best part about the process is you do it at the C desk which has no line, so i'm not sure you need an appt. unless the process has been moved to the L desk. both times i applied i was done in 15 minutes (pick up took less than 5 minutes). one of the worst days i had at CW wasn't even related to immigration work. there was huge traffic out on the main street and it took me an hour just to get out of the govt office complex. then another hour to get to the highway. man, was that hell !!! (i was in a taxi).
  21. i started getting panic attacks in dec/jan 2020. i didn't really know what was going on at first and managed to get through the first few. maybe one a day over a three day period. it felt like my heart was racing and i couldn't breathe. my heart rate was racing as i checked it and it was 130 while i was standing still. then after a couple weeks, the attacks happened every few hours and i couldn't take it anymore and went to the ER (in USA). i went twice in two days. the first time they said i was fine no problems. but i went back again. they gave me xanax/alprazolam, it worked in minutes. the 0.5mg pill was a little too much, i also got tired. i went to my personal doctor and got a 0.25mg prescription. i still get them once every 2-3 months but not as severe as before and those pills work wonders. just two weeks ago, i had another one, didn't have the pills with me and went to the ER (bumrungrad) as the symptoms were different this time. but turned out to be yet another panic attack. nothing wrong per ER doctor and results of stress test on heart the next day were fine. it seems to be all mental, sometimes i just lose control of the mind.
  22. i had to ride their A330 for all four legs on my trip in May 2022. that was tough. in the past, i've managed to get the A380 BKK-ICN, the 777 or 350 for ICN-SEA-ICN and then the A330. so just one leg on the A330. same with the korean/delta combo, i get three good, newish aircraft/seats, but then on that last leg, ICN-BKK i get the one of the oldies.
  23. i've smoked weed for decades and i haven't been able to find the sweet spot with the edibles. i feel nothing or it is way too much. this is using candies and gummy bears legalized in the state of washington in USA back in 2014. out of my group of long term friends (six of us), two of us don't seem to take too well to the edibles. the other four love them. i understand the delayed effect. i've tried half the candy or gummy bear and nothing. days later i try the full one, it is too much. paranoia sets in sometimes, i keep trying as i would love them to work but so far not so much. edit: with the items noted above, you do know how much you are taking. it is labeled properly.
  24. i'd go for that business class fare with the overnight at SIN on the way back. assuming you can get a transit hotel airside, as the OP notes, SIN is a good airport for transit. i usually fly through ICN to USA from BKK and i use their transit hotel rooms regularly for long layovers on business class tickets at around 3,000usd. usually asiana but i've also done korean/delta combo. but the long layover is going to USA, not the return.
  25. i'd like to source my weed from the chidchob clan in buriram. i saw a photo of one of them tending to the 'garden' and i'm ready to try the products. maybe a trip to buriram is required.
