if you look at this map = https://goo.gl/maps/VsZxhy6C8j82

where ' dream home hill' is,  there are a few places to stay,

if you then drive to the main road from dream home hill, turn right and drive a few hundred metres, there is a mini mart ' nine '  on the right, just after that you turn left and after about 100 metres or so immigration is then on your left see here =   https://goo.gl/maps/b9WogGtGMeL2

    Excellent, thanks ?

It would probably be easier to stay in Kanchanaburi. There is a bus service from the main bus station. It takes me about an hour to drive from Kan' to the border so I guess you should add 30 mins on the bus. Once you're at the border it should only take about an hour to complete the visa run. Your gf can wait at the border while you do the crossing.

Thanks for the advice elviajero, I'll be driving so will look at staying nearer the border as Steve suggested, but I do appreciate your assistance.

if you drive and want to make it a short break, then stay in the village, take a day driving there stay overnight, go first thing across the border, get some food nearby and take a day driving home,  i have done so on a couple of occasions, cheap new accommodation is available, its a small village so a few minutes to the border, no buses to catch, but car/minibus transport to take you through no mans land and back on an individual basis, the whole thing is 900 something baht, takes about 1/2 an hour, pretty laid back and simple, i have seen a falang there who helps out.

Thanks Steve, that's great info and that's what I will do, I'll drive it ( 3 1/2 hours ) from where I am . A little stop off in Kanchanaburi or Suphan Buri and make a little sightseeing trip out of it , I've been to Kanchanaburi before but didn't see it all .

Ban Phu Nam Ron simple and easy,  there are some good rooms to stay in the village

    Thanks Steve,

so it's feasible I can stay in the village 1 night, get the first van ( from the village) over the border and back again to fulfill my visa run ?

How long does the process take including van from village ?

The reason I'm asking is the gf will be with me but stay in the village waiting for me, we will then go do something touristy in Kanchanaburi

that depends on state and area. factories use both 127 and 220/380V. for our home in Itaipava (100km north of Rio) we were asked what supply we preferred.

Very common in Brazil for a residence to be 110 ( 127 ) but have a 220 supply also for certain appliances.

In my house i had a 220 socket in the garage, very handy for welding etc, and a 220 socket in the laundry room and kitchen for up market washing machines or electric ovens etc( neither of which i had ).

Probably the best crossing would be the Ban Phu Nam Ron crossing on the Myanmar border in Kanchanaburi province. You just need your passport and pay 950 baht on the Thai side for someone to drive you across no mans land, get you stamped in/out of Myanmar, and return.

Thanks, i thought you needed a Myanmar visa even for a visa run ? I seem to remember a thread about this a while ago ?

    Hi Andrew,

    Yes you'll need a re-entry permit to re-enter.

You realise the permit will only keep your current 'admitted until date' valid (21/6/18).

Your Visa will expire on 17/10/17 and your permission to stay will expire 21/6/18, then you need another Visa.

You can obtain a re-entry permit from your Immigration office or at the Airport.

    Thanks Tanoshi,

    One question :

Surely I can get an extension ( 1 year ) of my permission to stay on 21/06/2018 rather than get another visa ?

  8. I moved province about 45 days ago, went to Immigration armed with a TM30 and a TM28.
The IO dismissed the TM28, told me to bring it back on 90 report. TM30 was okay.
Did 90 report last week, took the TM28 from before.
The same IO dismissed the TM28 again but did another TM30 although I had not left the country or stayed overnight outside the province ?
I suspect she made a mistake on filing my previous TM30 but kept it too herself !!

    Who knows !!

    ( Ayutthaya immigration )

  9. I'm on an O-A visa ( entry before 17/10/2017 ) currently "admitted to stay" until 21/06/2018.

I was supposed to travel this week and next week, which would have extended my " admitted to stay " until the beginning of October ( ideal to obtain 2 years from an O-A ) but that has been cancelled.

So now, I am toying with the idea of a visa run instead.

Anyone from around Ayutthaya province done a visa run ?

Can you give me some pointers re: requirements needed etc.

  11. What is that brown material? I have to frame in cabinets also & was going to use the material in the pic (2.75x4cm). Or does anyone have a suggestion?
    Apologies for drifting off topic!
    Framing.jpg.af015ba6587b164a45952c63dbbd88c4.jpg

Some reclaimed teak cut to 40 x 40 mm ( as door units have a 40 mm channel ) and sealed with Water Lacq
  12. The fundamental problem is as you know the worktop is too low and modern units are not designed to be compatible.

Had they built some support walls under then you could have had a 50mm thick concrete slab instead of 100

If it was me and i had just moved into your kitchen i would think ok that drawer unit just cost me 5-6k.
I could demolish that worktop and build block support partitions and a new concrete top for half that price.
Plus the tiles are not a good contrast against the white units.
If you are going to spend upwards of 10k on a few doors and units then you want to look at it every day and be proud of it NOT looking every day and regretting getting the hammer out.

I paid 3,590 baht for this drawer unit, that is the problem really, I jumped at a bargain !!
As it's a little on the small size there is gonna be another kitchen ( gas hob and sink ) outside.
But it is what it is now.

I'm thinking about the same tiles round the drawer and door units, I think the white of the units will stand out okay. The dark brown you see on the photo looks odd but that will be covered up.
