  1. I guess you mean exchange rate, go to their website and you can see there, it's peer 2 peer system, almost mid market rate, their GBP to USD is amazing with just 0.5% charge. ...

Yeah, exchange rate, thanks I'll check it out .
  2. Just wondering. . . I don't drive. but my wife has held a driving licence for 18 months. We hoped to take a summer holiday in the UK and hire a car so she could drive us around.

However, she is adamant that she cannot legally drive in Britain until she gets her "full" Thai licence after holding her licence for two years - which won't be until the end of October.

Is she right - and if she is, does anyone know a get-around to avoid us having to put off our planned UK trip until next year?

I got my 2 year ( temporary) Thai license in Jan 2017, the lady said it could be renewed for the 5 year license in 1 years time, I questioned that ( via my gf ) and she repeated said statement !!
I thought it very strange that this is available !, I mean who would it benefit ?, except for you of course.
There was a thread a couple of months ago re: insurance on the temporary Thai license when hiring a car in uk, I offered the same solution but got no feedback.
Maybe your wife could call the DLT to see if possible ?

p.s. Doesn't interest me as I still have a couple of years on uk license.
  3. Look at Transferwise, they charge about 1.5% for GBP and send Baht directly to your Thai bank, no other charges.  Their exchange rate is far better than any bank or forex...

Just out of interest, what is the interest rate £ to baht on Transferwise currently, I need to transfer some £'s.
  4. Funny.
Alcohol is one of the many things that make life pleasant / bearable (your choice).
But perhaps "drinking in moderation" is a concept that is difficult to grasp for certain nationalities.

I found " drinking in moderation " a difficult concept to grasp unfortunately, beer was my tipple of choice or the occasional whisky, Logan and Ballentines were my favourite, so obviously not a connoisseur but I just liked the taste.
    That was then.
Now the odd, ( once a month to be sociable ), Jack Soda is enough for me .
  5. Yeah, like others have said you would have been okay elsewhere due to the fact that she was on the wrong side of the road with no lights.
But ( there it is again ), you are the rich farang so will probably have no option but to pay up .
It's a shame cos if you would have looked left one more time it would have been avoided.
Not blaming you personally, I've done similar ☹️

  6. It would appear that the bike is trying to undertake the pickup, but could also be the pickup tried to enter the gas station before the mc got there and misjudged it ?

Could have been one of those last minute decisions to enter the gas station , you know, one of those " stop there's a 7 and I'm hungry " moments !!

Without any video footage further up the road difficult to say IMO.

But as to whether he knew or not that he had hit the mc ?

Surely he couldn't be that stupid to just fill up his tank as if nothing had happened.......... but then again !

  7. I moved from Pattaya to Bangkok.  Since I have been in Thailand ( 5 years ) I have COPIES of ==> ALL DOCUMENTS
Owners Documents ( Originals, I had copies )
    Copy of Lease
Copy of rent payment and condo security deposit I deposited in owners bank account
    Passport
Copy of Passport homepage and opposite page.
Copy of Last """"Visa"""" - extension of stay
Copy of last 90 day report
    Copy of Last Entry Stamp
    Copy of TM6 Departure Card
Copy of 300Thb electric bill, found in new mailbox, Paid at 7-11
    Copy of extension payment receipts
(NOTE: Depending on YOUR situation - why / what - you stay in Th for, documents needed DO vary, ASK for help at IMMIGRATION.)
7 minutes later I left the Immigration building!!

    Always:
Know in ADVANCE what you ""might"" need - make a trip to a Immigration office and """ask for help"""
Carry a COPY of your Passport picture page ... Kodak store can make wallet size color copy and laminate under 100Thb
Do your 90 day report 5 days in advance of report date, have time to solve problems
Do your """" Retirement Visa"""" - extension of stay - 30 days in advance ( you loose no time ), have time to solve problems

    Very good advice, thanks.
I have the receipt from TM30 stapled in my passport but have never done a TM28/ moved residence before.
I usually go to immigration with more than I need , but that's okay [emoji4]
  8. A tm 28 is simply you telling immigration of a change of address. Once done unless you move you should never have to gile another one. Seems the headaches are the TM 30 supposedly every time you leave the country the house owner or you as the posseser  should go to immigration and declare an alien living at that address on a tm30. It really does depend on your immigration office. I have been out of the country many times and not been to immigration with a tm 30 (well the mrs). Was told when i asked about it once no need unless you change address, if you leave country and return to same address no problem dont need to do it. Where as other offices have said people have to. Best to ask at your office that way you can be certain.

Yeah, I filed a TM30 with Pathum IO last January, I left the country in Feb and did my 90 days report this week, nobody mentioned that I hadn't done another TM30 upon returning into Thailand, but I do understand that some IO have different rules ( or not adhere to the rules completely ).
