  2. Some day I wish a nice looking Thai lady would say to me, "Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just glad to see me".
What's the name of the actress who said that? And the actor was? Some one out there please .....I need an answer. (I am short of neurons in my brain now to make the connection, that's what the doctor told me- after 60 everything is gone.)

  3. thank you for all the feedback. I am looking at a compact car, Yaris, Jazz that kind of thing, im confused on the insurance types though as it seems to be level 1 2a 2 etc. Is One all singing all dancing and then goes down from there.

Also There does not seem to be much difference between new prices and cars that are 2/3 year old. In the UK the car drops dramatic in value once driven off the forecourt new but that does not seem to be the case here, i would of thought due to basic high numbers of nearly new cars that it would drive the price down

I was torn between the Yaris and Jazz too. Went for the Jazz due to engine size (1.5) and has a real good boot ( trunk) size when seats folded.

Only had it since mid Nov but racked up 7500 km's but am more than satisfied.

Plus they had a good deal on at the time, got leather seats, window film, 1 years insurance and a bunch of freebies ( car cover, tow rope, jump leads etc) thrown in.

I looked at buying used but the high prices didn't warrant buying, made sense to me to buy new and in 2 or 3 years could sell for a good deal .

  4. I just read an advertisement on Facebook about this visa. The advert was placed by some kind of Thai property finding service.
I noticed it said 100,000 Baht per month income OR 3 million in a bank account.
    Is the OR part correct?

"The new Thailand-Ten-Year-Retirement-Visa will cost 10,000 Baht ($280) and foreign senior tourists must be 50 years old or older in order to be eligible. They are required to obtain the non-immigrant long stay visa beforehand, and also meet certain financial criteria. It is understood that the existing retirement visa will remain available, for those that are unable to meet the criteria of the enhanced ten-year-visa.

This is big news for retirees in Thailand looking to spend a long time in Thailand. The Ministry of Public Health reported to the cabinet on the 22nd November 2016 that the number of foreigners looking to stay and retire in Thailand is on the rise. Main areas of popularity are Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Chon Buri, and other popular resorts close to the seaside.

Keen to capitalise on this increase of wealthy foreigners staying in Thailand, the Thai government has approved this incentive – but it’s not for everyone.

To qualify for the new Thailand-Ten-Year-Retirement-Visa, applicants must have a monthly income of at least 100,000 baht ($2800) or a bank account with three million baht deposited ($84,000). If the latter, this must be maintained as available funds for at least one year after the granting of the Thailand-Ten-Year Retirement Visa.

The Thailand-Ten-Year-Retirement-Visa will be available for visitors from the following countries: Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States.

In addition to the above, applicants are required to have medical insurance cover. This is for one year, with at least $1,000 US for our-patient care and $10,000 dollars for in-patient care each time. It’s important to note that holders of the new visa must also report to a designated immigration office every 90 days.

Note: This 90 day report may be carried out with power of attorney of a local lawyer on your behalf. (Removed name of company. OP.)

Coming from Facebook this is obviously not a reliable source but.......

I'm on a O-A visa and would struggle to meet the requirements for the new 10 year visa.I get the impression from this post that the new 10 year visa is in addition to the O-A and not a replacement ?

Have we had this confirmed by any reliable sources yet ??

  5.
Could have reduced the 1 hour delay by:
    • Stand on the side of the bridge
    • Check the river is clear of boats and swimmers
    • Hold grenade, squeezing the safety leaver with one hand
    • Pull the safety pin out with the other hand
    • Throw in to river (remember to let go when throwing)

    Just to clarify:
Throw the hand grenade or the pin into river ?

  6. The High Chapperal and Hogans Heroes were the US imports I liked .

Dr Who was always a favourite, they filmed one episode near where I lived ( Shipley Glen, West Yorkshire) and me and my mates went to watch , the Daleks were pathetic, couldn't move on the rough grass !!
    We were gutted !!

But one of the best TV highlights was wrestling !!, some characters on there and of course as kids we thought it was real !! [emoji23][emoji23]

  7. Had a bit of success today !
Around noon the apartment office calls me and gives me a contract stating I had been there since May 3rd 2016 and I am now the tenant.
I asked them if they had done a TM30, they seemed a bit vague so got them to fill one in.
Legged it down to Immigration (Pathum Thani) for residence certificate, gave them the TM30 and got the receipt stapled in my passport as people have been stating, also no fine for not reporting in 24 hours !!
On to DLT , too late to do the eye tests etc but checked about all the required paperwork and am good to go !!
So, today got residence certificate and TM30 sorted.
    Tomorrow get DL.

    Next week..conquer the world !!!
