BYD prices a bit steep for your liking ?, well here’s a model ( Qin ) for around US$17 k, looks very good for the price , almost Seallike ? I usually don’t like this guys videos as he likes to go the scaremongering route but on this occasion he tends to stick to the facts.

Yes, strange how the Sea Lion has popped up out of nowhere and could be released this month, although there are some reports of it from around a year ago it hasn’t been hyped like the Seal and Dolphin. Looks larger than the Atto 3 and expected price in China is 1 million- 1.2 million baht, so could be 1.3-1.5 M baht here? A toned down interior from the Atto 3 and I’m all over it.

What next for BYD ? With Seal on hold till next year, Han and Tang not coming but being released elsewhere , the E6 likely to appear soon and Dolphin already here, not forgetting the Atto 3 which is still forging ahead one could be forgiven in thinking that BYD would take a little break to decide which is the best way to proceed. But no !! The Seagull ( Dolphins smaller sister ) is already hitting the headlines with its rumours of a Sodium-ion battery. Some japanese cars now come equipped with stop-start technology, sure it wasn’t that ? I rented a car in the U.K. recently and it had stop-start enabled as default every time you started the engine. Damn annoying ,

Usually go for the cheapest bottled water, found they all taste roughly the same ( to me anyway) except for Singha, Singha is the only one i don’t like.

Wonder why they bothered showing the Han here in Thailand if it’s not going to be released here, hate to drive a LHD car here, but if you have enough money to import one then that is going to be your drivers problem I suppose. Incidentally yesterday BYD released 3 cars simultaneously in Spain, Atto 3, Han and Tang !! Wonder if you can test drive all 3 in the same day ?, now that would be fun .

Reason I asked if it was you ( seems a bit silly now ) i was travelling from Nakhon Sawan to Ayutthaya Thursday morning and the traffic was busy, close to Ayutthaya a row of cars passed me in the fast lane. A red HS was being tailgated by a police pickup and the HS pulled into the middle lane just long enough to let the pickup go by then pulled out smoothly behind him in a kind of “ I’d rather have that tw@t in front of me than behind me “ kind of move. A sort of move I would do myself and seems a bit “ British “, Thai drivers don’t seem to care about what is behind, or even what is in front for that matter ! So, the time sort of fit as you had mentioned you were 4 hours out earlier and i seem to think you have an HS , could be red ?, so i put 2 and 2 together and got ……….. seven ???? I have mentioned before that my mind wanders on these long straight roads ………… as you were.

Been to Graceland also, 2002 was working in Batesville , MS. On the same trip , driving round killing time came upon the Crossroads monument ( where Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil ). Working in Fort Worth had a drive to see the “ x” marks the spot where Kennedy was shot one evening , a colleague was looking it up on the internet and it said “ beware of fake touts trying to sell you a tour “ as he read this out 3 dubious looking fellas were approaching from different directions ! Threw up on the last train from New York to Norwalk, Conn after a day visiting the sights, damn you Jäegermeister…. never again ! Had a visit to Muscle Beach , CA while working in Ontario, CA, and saw the sights there. Also from there had a drive ( 4 hrs ) to Vegas , stayed around 4 hrs then drove back ! Worked for an American company for 32 years and visited maybe 70 times to many locations. Had an American brother in law ( we married Brazilian sisters) for 20 years and had many great winter/summer vacations in Denver. Consider myself very lucky, had many great visits there, some not so great ????, and made many lifelong friends. Would have liked to have seen Grand Canyon and Mount Rushmore but the opportunity never arose.

I believe you have bought what they class as an Activity Car , could be a showroom, test drive or motor show vehicle. Usually a year or two old and most likely not sold before. GWM are clearing their Activity Cars at the moment, Jolion and H6 with around 150/160k discount depending on model.

Summary of the 1st 7 days bookings at the Motor Show compared with the interest shown at the EXPO. At the EXPO lot of interest in BYD, but at the Show possibly hoping Seal availability or the Dolphin price is too rich makes for some poor sales figures so far. Good to see MG up there with the big boys , with the MG4 and the ES no doubt going to be a good result for them. Incidentally while the Motor Show is on my local Mall ( Ayutthaya City Park ) has a Mini Motor Show but it’s usually quite weak . MG showing the MG5 and the VS HEV and not a newly released model in sight, why even bother ??
