Sounds a bit like the military 'advisors' that America sent to South Vietnam before the war.
But I admit that I'm a hardline Chinese xenophobe. I don't trust the CCP as far as I could throw their entire country.

Agreed. There are literally millions of young thai women who would look that good with all the makeup and clothes.

How can a toilet seat crack in half?
This has never happened to me before.
Could be dangerous, even, if a brittle plastic shard from a cracked toilet seat cut my privates.
Is this just a case of cheap plastics OF Yore?; about 35 years ago?
Or, are the tiny toilet seats designed for Tiny Thais just poorly designed, now that we know that Thais are becoming heavier, by the year?
FYI: I have seen PLENTY of Thais who are double my weight. And so, I think that toilet seats should be designed to withstand at least 200 Kilos to accommodate the commodes of Heavy Thais.
Obviously, this is a perfect case of inferior plastics being used 35 years ago.
NOW: Here is my problem....
The lousy garbage toilet seat is held in place by some metal screws, instead of what is now used...the plastic screws and bolts, which are easy to remove.
And, now, even though I have a new toilet-seat replacement, I cannot remove the old lousy garbage toilet seat.
I have unscrewed the right-side bolt, but the left-side bolt is completely locked, frozen, and corroded.
This is very unnerving.
And, there are even Blogs discussing the stupidity of using metal screws to hold the toilet seat in place.
As you know, where there is water, then there is bound to be corrosion.
So....HOW do I remove these lousy garbage screws holding the garbage plastic toilet seat in place.
If I cannot remove them....
Then, I cannot replace the toilet seat, and sit upon it.
Here is what I mean:
I have no drill, at the moment.
If I HAD a drill, then I would drill down through the head of the screw,.....
OBVIOUSLY....
Tks for any advice.
I do not want to take a sledge to the toilet.
I am trying to not waste money, by destroying the toilet with....
ONE FELL SWOOP of the sledge.....
Hacksaw blade held horizontally. Cut thru the bolts.
Maybe it cracked because your butt was made in America and the seat in China.

On the MAINLAND
Koh Tao not known for its beaches.
The question is entirely subjective. I would say no. In fact, I would state that any island less than about 40 km off the coast probably has less than exceptional beaches
Having said that, I am personally only satisfied and visit or stay on beaches that are at least four or five star. World class because why would a person go anywhere else when they have that opportunity? This is one of the best things that is on offer in Thailand. By and large free
Khao Tao is on the mainland. I live outside huahin and go often.

Yes, I can prove him wrong.
I know for a fact that "people are brainwashed from birth" is not true.
Had the poster said "some" or "some groups", probably not.
There are many history books that show Buddism is not all "hocus pocus".
Sorry.
Saying you "know for a fact" is not proof.
History books? Like the bible?

End of.

I wonder, can you prove that comment?
The " brainwashed" bit and the fact Buddism and it's teachings are "hocus pocus".
It will be an interesting read. Thanks.
Can you prove him wrong?
Didn't think so.
Religion: people get it or they don't.
More and more of the civilized world is getting it though as secularism rises.

I suggest going with probabilities.
Anything can happen. Black swans can happen.
The Russia-Iran-NK- China axis could melt down the international banking system tomorrow.
Especially your last one seems uncomfortably likely in the next few years.
I go with probabilities too and have been stacking metals for decades.
Just don't keep it all in one place.

I simply don't sweat small charges like that. Not worth the calories burned thinking about it.

If the magas take power, I don't expect any immediate impact on current SS recipients. But they would raise retirement age maybe even reduce benefits for younger people. IF SS isn't reformed, benefits will need to be cut about 25 percent even for current recipients in about 10 years.
I read that too but don't take anything for granted.
Hope for the best but plan for the worst.
I don't depend on my SS at all and instead keep assets in several countries, banks vaults, etc. I definitely don't keep most of it in America or USD.

The biggest concern being in my 50'is, can we expect the world goes on as we know it the next 30 + years? Will we get our pentions as promised? Can we still live Asia or in the west as I asume we all come from with bebefits as we do today? Im sure, it will be a different world just in 10 years.
Spending it all for nothing?
Two excellent questions.
Through most of my adult life I assumed that I would never collect any social security benefits at all.
At 74 I have been drawing it for 7 years, and living here I seldom spend even half of it each month.
On the other hand, if the government in America turns Orange this year I thinks all bets on continued SS payments are off. Same for Medicare and Democracy.
As far as being able to stay here long term it's a daily crap shoot.
The world being the same as we know it over the next 30 years? :
Not a snowball's chance in hell of that.

Nah, just set up automatic deduction from your bank account.
PEA leaves your bill in the box outside, then pulls the charge from your authorized account.
Did that two years ago.
Best alternative for those with permanent addresses.

Interesting
He has a good point.
The IRS should stop collecting taxes because so many people cheat on them.
Thailand is way ahead of the curve on all this as they have many many laws on the books that they never attempt to enforce.

You have unusual proclivities. Those who 'enjoy' the suffering of others are usually quite unhappy themselves.
