  1. The shop you are talking about give you a very basic eye test, I don’t believe they employ Optometrists, 2 in Pattaya do, Euro Optics and Pattaya Optical, there is another called Better Vision not sure if they employ an Optometrist.

What's wrong with you guys that you end up arguing about the most simple task in this country.

    I

The arguments are normally started by posters who have a distinct ‘hatred’ of people who use agents.

did you actually read what I said my drs (a GP, urologist and radiation specialist) told me, or like so many on here selectively nit pick so you can post a criticism and make yourself look like you know better than the drs who treated me.

Not meant as a criticism or nit picking just confirming the difference which other posters might find informative.

I won't disagree with you, however the GP, urologist and radiation specialist that treated me in Sydney ALL referred to chemo as radiation treatment AND it was explained to me as being an alternative prostate cancer treatment if I did not want to have the radical prostatectomy. At that point brachytherapy was not an option as my PSA level was too high. However they also stressed that if I had the chemo and the cancer later returned I would NOT be able to have any other form of radiation treatment because with prostate cancer the body and immune system can only tolerate one form of radiation treatment, hence my choice of surgery, which in the end turned out to be the correct choice as my cancer did spread in the time between diagnosis and treatment, which meant that brachytherapy, not chemo, became the treatment of choice.

No, chemotherapy is not the same as radiation therapy. Chemotherapy targets cancer cells throughout the body usually by using cytotoxic medications given intravenously. Radiation therapy uses high-energy beams (like x-rays or proton therapy) to target and kill cancer cells at a specific tumor site

    Sheryl,

Could you recommend a hospital and doctor that specializes in Brachytherapy?

I’m up in the north in Chiang Mai but could easily come down to Bangkok…

Not to get too far off the subject but could you speak to what the current focal therapies that are available in Thailand, the only one I’ve seen is a doctor doing HIFU at Siriraj…. any options for cryo or tulsa?

What reason are looking for this treatment , I asked if I could have it in the U.K.as it said the side effects could be less, was told I wasn’t suitable for it.

The type of treatment you will receive depends on the size of your prostate, the stage of your cancer, your Gleason score and PSA level. Not everyone is suitable to have brachytherapy. Brachytherapy can be given in isolation or with external beam radiotherapy. Your doctor will let you know if you can have brachytherapy and if so which type would be more suitable for your type of cancer.

They get the TM30 formular confirmation by the landlord once a Year with my retirement extension. Or after a re-entry (after more than 30 Days abroad).

    Confusing for shure.

You didn’t mention your landlord had done a TM30

CORRECTION TM 47 Formuar not TM 30

So no TM30, do you own or rent your property, it’s confusing, how do Immigration check you live at the address you wrote on the TM47 with no documentation to support it ?

    Was there early today.

TM30 Formular, copy first page passport, copy last entry, copy Visa. Waited 20 minutes. No big deal.

No details of your address required then ?

I think its rare that you get a 'condo buyer' who appreciates opportunity cost. Maybe they are just a simple bunch who think bank interest is the lost opportunity.

Expected growth on my funds should be 7%. This is enough to cover rent. At least 1% is what i would call a portability premium - i get to leave when the condo annoys me or it gets old and shabby.

I was a homeowner in the west and i don't miss much about it.

I couldn’t have put it better, even my Thai wife wouldn’t want me to buy a condo which eventually would be left to her. I had one in the U.K. which I managed to sell recently, I lost at least 5% of the initial purchase price, not a great investment after owning it for 10 years.

Typical, hit the keyboard then read the articles later, there is not going to be three weeks of water throwing as seven posts (and an hour) before yours confirmed.

I read the article, there is no indication what the celebrations will be,

Chai said that the Ministry of Culture will organising the activities in coordination with relevant private and public sector agencies in Bangkok’s 50 districts and the other 76 provinces

  11. It depends on how long you want to live in Pattaya, condos are difficult to move on as they become older and more so ones at the lower end of the market, there is a glut of them in Pattaya, certainly not an investment you would make money on if you tried to sell it at a later date.

Put your money into a high interest savings account and use part/interest/interest  to pay rent with the option of moving on if you want to.

Jomtien....10 years of self renewals, I am 10 minutes away by bike and I have plenty of time on my hands, plus I,m 100% legal and can show my bank book at anytime that I comply with the rules....not to mention the savings I have made over the years....

Not everyone lives 10 minutes away and has a bike, if they stopped people using agents they would have to triple the size of the office and employ many more staff not to mention the increase in waiting time.

Many reports of it taking longer lately, takes longer than 10 minutes to get there..... and they insist on Tm30 receipt. Leaving it with an agent, leaving it with immigration.... probably both a risk.

Anybody with sense should do it on-line.

Matter of choice, online, agent, do it yourself what ever is the most convenient,

Dont use an agent...my renewal costs me 1900 baht + 200 baht for the bank letter

Everyone to their own, renewal is nearly a day out of my life on the diminishing days I have left on the planet,if I can make life easier and stress free I don’t  mind paying for it.

Well, your PSA is called slightly abnormal. In general we would start a treatment when it's going to 1.0. Monitoring is an option combined with some food as I wrote before.

Slightly abnormal I don’t know where you are getting your info from, Google ? my PSA level is fine, my prostate cells produce little or no PSA due to the radiotherapy which killed most of the cells which produce PSA hence the low levels of PSA in my blood tests.

You mentioned your cancer. What stage is it precisely? Do you know the Gleeson score?

I had 5 sessions of radiotherapy over 6 years ago, I don’t have a Gleason score, my PSA is around 0.015 now.
