Thaksin should be given the stark choice of going into exile or a long jail sentence and no more involvement in politics... too toxic.

If they do dissolve parlianment and have new elections in a few months, then okay. However, things often don't work out how these types say so. I'm glad Thaksin is gone, but Anutin is someone I think isn't good for Thailand, or anyone else, in general. I hope the PP gets their election soon and wins and something new can happen here

In my opinion, this whey protein drink shake thing is shakey advice... I would increase natural protein intake to higher amounts. There are lots of reports to the good or bad of whey protein. It is commonly accepted that eating things high in purines and fructose are common causes of elevated uric acid levels... can include alcohol, seafood, and game meat in that too. Gout is often called "The rich man's disease", but that's not always true these days, but a while back it was. Other things like medication can raise levels too, so it's a whole bunch of stuff that can do it. However, no point living like a monk, and you should concentrate on things that can lower it. So, drink lots of water and increase vit C intake, limit seafood and fringe meats, rich foods and booze etc.

Increase your vitamin C intake as that helps your body get rid of uric acid.

They should just dissolve the House and have another election to get everything as straight and legit as possible. Problem is, if whoever PP supports as PM but won't take part in the cabinet etc., then you have the biggest political party incharge of things but also acting as the opposition... which isn't really a good situation, even if they are demanding a dissolution within 4 months (which is a long time in politics). This situation will be noticed and just makes a messy situation worse. Also, having A-nut-in charge of the covernment briefly doesn't help with anything either. Get rid of PT party and Thasksin too, clear the deck with a new election, and try to move on... however unlikely that will be, but it give PP a chance to win outright and that would be the best outcome.

I said "some", not all... plenty of foreigners have these under the table visa approvals that they pay for with cash to grease the wheels... not saying you are one of them, but if you think this situation doesn't exist and no-one does it, then you are either deluded or very noob to Thailand.

The dating apps are full of vampires and scammers looking for fresh meat. Best thing you can do is do it the old fashioned way, meet someone in real life in your travels... doesn't guarrantee success though, but the site apps and bars are just full of pros with high body counts. Many newly arrived guys make this blunder... although, there will be a small % of dudes that found success on dating sites/bars, but they are the exception and the opposite tends to be the case. Be careful and suspicious of situations that seem too good to be true, as they probably are.

I have no problem with any bank and have accounts with multiple banks, as on a WP and submit a tax filing each year... because legit, so go through the official legal process each time. Some have these dodgy long-term visas that they pay IOs/agents for, maybe 20k, and it gets approved... but that's at the discretion of the office. I prefer to be legit for peace of mind... although the work-around probably isn't going away anytime soon as it's such a huge earner for the officials, but it makes you slightly vulnerable. Not for me.

If you are legit and on a long-term visa plus go through their security hoops, then Bangkok Bank is fine... it's those on improper visas, those playing the system, and scammers/criminals that are being shook down.

There should be age limits on presidents, congressional reps and sentators plus term limits (not a big problem in the rest of the West, maybe a bit in the UK/other in the House of Frauds or their equivelant, just mainly the US)... they have a minimum age for president of 35. Why not a max age as these dinosaurs are not in touch with the modern world. We don't need grandpa/grandma wanting to turn the clock back to sometime 40 years ago in charge... we need people in their 50s or 60s, not older. Getting to the point where the only way to stay here hassle free is to be super organised and have things like pink ID card and yellow house book etc., a work permit, or be rich. There's that popular saying "You can take a girl out of a bar but you can't take the bar out of the girl". It's obviously true in many cases but the real obstacle to a successfull long-term relationship or marriage is the fact that the worlds that most bar girls and westerners come from are so far apart (i.e. the farm girl from the village in Nakhon Nowhere and the guy from a western city like London/New York etc. but meet in the environment the foreigner recogizes and feels comfortable in), in reality, they might as well be on different planets... and have different rules/expectations/accepted norms/differing perceptions of human values/survival behaviours to all sorts of stuff. I'm not saying they are insurmountable differences, but many westerners do not give it proper consideration/critical thinking and inevitably take a gung-ho running jump into the abyss with a "devil may care" approach and the inherent issues that go along with it. Choices have consequences, I'm afraid. The woman you decide you be with long term here is one of the most crucial decisions you make in Thailand... and a pragmatic and realistic approach is recommended, even if you are only honest with yourself.
