  1. How does every thread about Thailand and others turn into a Trump hate thread? We are taking about Thailand and hookers/ bars/ scams in Thailand. What is the malfunction that every thread has to end up as a Trump hate thread? Can I make an observation to the AS Now editorial that these off topic posts and thread hijacks are deleted... it's nonsense.
  2. Deleted by me... no point.
  3. 12. The broke sugar daddy. 13. The jealous over a bar girl foreigner. 14. The foreigner with the perfect business plan but there's a fear of missing out timeline. 15. The "I've been here 20 years" foreigner that thinks he has moral authority on all subjects Thai. 16. The guy that doesn't realise he's actually become a cautionary tale without realising it. 17. Any foreigner that talks to you about crypto. 18. The foreigner that says he has influencial Thai friends that can sort everything. 19. Any foreigner you don't know well that asks you to help them and sign something. 20. The guy that needs to borrow large amounts of money for investment or whatever, regardless of how well you think you know them. 21. People/foreigners that want you to go somewhere irregular in the evening that you have no clue about. I could go on, but that's enough for today.
  4. No... use it as a cushion against sanctions etc. if they invade Taiwan or there is a sudden world market shock, and trade with others outside the western system old style before Nixon got rid of the gold standard/Bretten Woods agreement. Russia does the same with all its operations in Africa trying to squeeze it for gold, silver, diamonds, copper, lithium, China does the jade from Burma MO as well, and all sorts... then it doesn't need to trade in fiat money. Look at places like Burkino Faso/Mali/DR of Congo etc. and you'll see Russia and China racing for the resources in exchange for security for the regime or major corruption bucks for the rulers. Why do you think mercenary groups like Wager are in Africa? It's to funnel stuff to Moscow.
  5. You also have China and Russia buying up as much gold as possible too which is affecting prices. For example, look how much is going from Thailand to Cambodia at the moment, which then finds its way to China.
  6. "Unravelling the motive"... how about a far-lefty that rejected his traditional upbringing and got his mind poisoned by social media, then believed his opinions were superior to others and dismissed debate or logic and started banging a trans dude... bought a gun and then decided those with opinions that didn't align with his were ineligible to the right to life. There, sums it up pretty good and this is all to common now, just that many haven't popped yet.
  7. All he is doing is to enact as much populist policies as possible before the next election, so he can increase his vote share/power... nothing to do with the betterment of Thailand.
  8. You didn't read the post properly, try again... they do this periodicly. When they are ready to repatriate their money the baht suddenly loses value. Do try to keep up.
  9. Anutin is whistling in the wind and he knows it. A strong baht benefits the elite and their oversees investment/returns, and they see no reason why that should change whilst they are buying up stuff abroad... and that included everyone one of them from he right at the top to the other rich elites. Long gone has the time of helping the SMEs or normal folks, just about the rich now... it may go the other way when the rich want to bring money back to Thailand, but other than that, then unlikely. It's about control... and it's getting worse all the time, along with them signing up for the WEF rules and requirements. Going to get harder all the time for all... from locals to expats to tourists.
  10. Temper your expections and entitlement and you'll be fine, as those who don't end up disappointed, or worse. A good quote from a song is "Don't waste your time on jealously as sometimes you're ahead and sometimes you're behind... but the race is long and only with yourself." Life goes through ups and downs... so it varies from a 5-10 depending on what stage of your life you are in. But if ultimately you get to an 8 or more in later life, then okay, sweet.
  11. This 22 year-old kid was a far-lefty mental mess banging a trans dude and listening to far too much social media thinking he can sort it, FFS. How much more screwed-up and moronic can you get? He may have been raised up in a traditional setting, but clearly through his social choices and situation plus politics, rejected it all.... just kept quiet about it until he popped. You can't start shooting people just because of their opinion... you have to win the argument with reason and logic, which most young people don't have, or even want to engage in things like debate because they are too emotionally fagile and unintelligent to even tread water on a topic. A new era of authoritarian socialism is springing up... that sort of Soviet Union and NKVD stuff, just more subtle. In the 20th century we had to be saved from the far-right, but in the 21st century we will have to be saved from the far-left. History (and other subjects like psychology etc.) will judge the early 21st century in a very dim light... assuming that will all still be allowed and that AI hasn't enslaved or destroyed us all.
  12. Thai gold to Cambodia then goes to China... China is stock-piling gold.
  13. You are not under any obligation to ineract with anyone... should have just firmly given the moron the middle finger and told them to F off, unles you are a wimp.
  14. Your mistake was even talking/engaging with the sketchy person in the first place... should have just smiled and jogged on, don't even say anything.
  15. He is not my president... I'm not from the US. So many make assumptions that make them look silly.
  16. There is freedom of speech in the US and these lefty nutjobs trying to kill people they don't agree with is a bad sign. Most lefties would rather live in Stalin's Soviet Union than somewhere that people can say what they like... probably also thinking that bringing back the NKVD would be a good idea. Unfortunately, authoritarian socialism is appearing in all sorts of places it shouldn't, as the ideology has been completely debunked as useless and fail... look at Cuba/Venezuela/USSR etc., and in the not so distant future to be countries in Europe like the UK, Spain, Sweden and others unless people wake up and stop being distracted and spending the whole day staring into their smart phones.
  17. Was, and many think Scargill was an idiot too... and Kinnock was also a fail too. Socialism is destined to fail and has never worked. Name me on socialist country that has/is a success? No, didn't think so. The problem with socialism is that it is tempting and works on a family or friends small level... but once you try to scale it up it comes undone, as it doesn't account for indifference and greed plus other human qualities. That's why it always fails. You have two types od socialism... authoritarian socialism like Cuba/Venezuela/USSR etc. and you have democratic socialism like Sweden etc. Both have/are failing because you end up with disconnent and nonsense, plus being broke and running out of other peoples' money, and having hight taxes etc. Capitalism isn't perfect and has it's flaws, but it works if people try and strive to succeed... better so than other systems. c
  18. I said elementary school is average, and that is hardly a ringing endorsement when we are talking about the general levels here. As with all things, it depends on what school/uni you are talking about... some are okay, some average, and some useless. I was attempting to make a neutral general statement... however, if your kids school is like that, then so be it and I guess that's true for that school.
  19. Most budding expats make the same mistakes and the average stay expectancy for new expats looking for retirement in paradise is 1-2 years at most, often similar experiences with plenty of horror stories... have a watch of some of the YouTude channels with people sharing stories. However, there are some that get it right and manage decades. The story always starts the same, guy is disillusioned with Europe/US etc. and the deadend job and often mid 30s, 50s or retirement guy over 60 etc... wants change, messy divorce, has some good savings and wants to be a digital nomad et al. plus reads too many ads/blogs/Youtube travel influencers nonsense etc. Lands in Bangkok, has a great first few weeks/months, goes to Pattaya/Phuket/Samui etc. with no idea what he thinks he's going to be doing, accepts 25-30k a month condo as "reasonable" etc, eats street food and spends more time on the toilet than enjoying himself, drinks too much... then it all goes wrong when he meets Noi/Neng/Mai/Nok or whatever in a bar/somewhere, and she's "different" with a smile that stopped my heart, could speak English enough and was super slim and so hot. We all know the story... falls in love, or what he thinks is love, she then, after months, starts chipping away at him for bits of money for this, that or the other. What the guy doesn't realise is that these girls you meet in bars are not like the ones from whence you came, they are pros with high body counts mostly (not all, but most, and there are some success stories, buth they are the exception rather than the rule). Eventually the lies and fakeness leads to disaster. What you should do, is not to go to the tourist hotspots initially and go other places to get to understand Thailand properly and where thes girls you meet in tourist places come from (good perspective to have)... hotspots are generally for holidays and visits, not for long-term living (some manage it okay but most don't), although I understand those who smartly live just outside, so they can take it or leave it when they want to, as otherwise these places drive you nuts after a while of contstantly being in the vortex. You also need to think about what you are going to do, you need purpose... as the chances of becoming an alcoholic or cautionary tale are high (especially if you come here with a $100k or more), many have wandered this path and ended up back in their home country with nothing. The key to longevity here is not to go crazy for the party scene and choose well regarding which woman you shack up with or marry... don't flash your cash, just makes you a target as scammers everywhere now. Pretend to not have much is a better plan and you are more likely to meet genuine women. This post could last a few pages, but I won't bore you all as many guys here who have been here for a decade or two will know what I'm talking about. Amen.
  20. Back to the 70s... slow clap Labour. After all these years in opposition, you have no clear plan on what to do, other than be authoritarian socialists and let the modern-day Arthur Scargills get their way... facepalm. Your tenure in power will be short... Venezuela here we come.
  21. It's getting shakey on many fronts regarding visas... so many hoops to jump through now unless a two-week, or month or so, wonder tourist. I bet it will end up with only three options to stay here long term... and those will be rich, working with a WP, or properly and officially married to a Thai national. Everything else will slowly be weeded out, I reckon. I obviously don't have a crystal ball, but it's beginning to look like that will be the end game.
  22. This rain-making thing is all very well and has good optics for the public etc... but, problem is, you need clouds in the first place to seed, and without them, it's a moot point.
  23. The problem here in Thailand is high school because it's a distaster of mind-washing nonsense. Elementary school is average and the universities are okay... not their fault generally. It's high school where the problem is, and by the time they get to university they have been moronified (if there is such a word). There is no critical thinking taught, no soft skills taught, and if you look at your average Mathyom 3 teacher, they themselves are a mind-washed imbecile in charge of like 40 teenagers. Once they get to university it's too late as the formative years are gone... they either sink or swin, and even the imbeciles often graduate, hence the perpetuating of the incompetence into the system. The reform needs to happen in secondary education... that's where the problems is. Sadly, I don't think the Thailand elites want critical thinkers and super-capable graduates as it's a threat to their doninance... a subservient large % of the population as obeying drones that can't better their lives, regardless of what they do, is better for them.
  24. This is not a hard one to work out why: Firstly, Thailand's nationist agenda has basically turned many people off, both tourists and expats, from everywhere. Secondly, the baht is far too over-valued and people aren't getting their bang-for-their-buck anymore... but you are in other ASEAN countries. Thirdly, the immigration nonsense and all the hoops that everyone now has to do just makes it a hassle to travel to here. Fourthly, there's still a huge scam, safety, and over-pricing problem here. Fifth, the friendly vibe and welcoming locals feeling has waned... everyone is simply focused on money, but I suppose that could be said of everywhere now. Sixth, many tourists from most countries don't want to be in a milling mass of Indians and Russians. It's not that people aren't traveling, it's that they are voting with their feet and pockets. Thailand has done this to itself, and one of the main drivers of this economic loss is the government of the last two years and the xenophobic nationalist politicians and conservatives. You reap what you sow, I'm afraid.
  25. I hope Thaksin is so gone, but I also hope Anutin is gone soon too... as he is unhelpful to the future of Thailand.
