any tips? Did you place under gift? Without writing them the price tag?

No gift, just use normal tracked post, Thai post is really good (last time they even fixed my box because they received it broken and it contained 10000 baht of food). You are required to write the list of items so maybe don't write "BRAND NEW PS5 THAT YOU CANT BUY IN THAILAND". write "electronic game for kids" or "gaming console" just in case. Anyway if they ask you to pay something it will be less than 40000, I guess!

Hello, has anybody here tried shipping stuff from Singapore to Thailand. I have ordered tons of stuff in Aliexpress and i always choose their shipping with local shipping which is from Vpost (Singapore National Post).  Hasn't hit by any tax from Custom yet.

My question here is if i were to purchase a Sony Ps5 from singpaore and ship by Vpost as a gift without declaring the price. Sending to my wife thai name. Will i hit heavy tax rate?

Announced price for the digital edition is 599SGD which equals to 13600THB.

The same version in Thailand should retail at 12900THB. So why do that?

I've told you i have backed off this.   I am thinking in a few weeks she will realize this isn't so fun.  If not then she is more amazing than I thought.   If she lost job I can easily support her and me for the rest of our lives.  Sorry some of you are so short on funds.   Her getting fired doesn't cause any fear or worry for me.

Then buy a house in her name and support her end of the story. Doesn't sound too much of an abuse walking one kilometer a day for 3000 baht/month, at least she won't become a fat ass. There's people who walk 5km everyday, every morning and for free???? geez..

  4. In my own experience I see a lot more Thais coughing with open mouth compared to Falangs.

You know that useless dry cough that seems more a nervous tic than a real throat condition.

Maybe now they do it less but before covid it was rampant. The best was when the 7/11 lady did that repeatedly while preparing your drink or food. Good times.

No, there is a fixed fee of around US$30 per transfer. That is all fees charged by both banks.

I bank with Barclays UK and they charge like a wounded bull.

Use TransferWise, half fees, better exchange rate.

You just need to wire from Barclays to your TW account (no fees) and then from your TW to your Thai Bank. The total process will take less than 2 working days. I was skeptical but I would never go back to wiring without TransferWise.

Central Floresta IS on the outskirts of Phuket Town, 4 km from the centre, pretty much in the middle of nowhere, except for a bunch of other shopping centers in the vicinity.

It's not in the middle of nowhere. 10 minutes from patong. 20 min from Kata/Nai Harn. Can shop everyday at Tops Market, have a Starbucks or a real sushi, eat at Central Buffet which is excellent. Stuff you cannot have everywhere in Phuket except in Laguna.

Just giving options, I know everybody has their own needs.

Kamala is probably your best choice on Phuket if you want a good beach, plenty of food/pub options, and everything within walking distance.

Its also a short hop to Patong should you feel the need to go to the mall or whatever.

It's all up to one's tastes. For example for me Kamala is terrible, terrible town, terrible beach.

I suggest the OP to come down visit all places and then make a decision.

For what matters this is my opinion:

    - if you are a beach/scooter person, Nai Harn is a no brainer.

    - if you are looking for more upscale supermarkets/restaurants and city live, stay near Central Floresta.(no that's not Phuket Town)

    - Laguna area is a mix between upscale places and good beach life. High prices. Cheaper is Cherngtalay, still close to Laguna, lower prices.

    - if you like everyday the happy Thai girls with silicon valleys on the chest go to Patong.

All other areas are in the middle of these three categories. Avoid Phuket Town. Mai Khao is relaxed but very remote from everything. Surin beach ok if you have a 150000 THB/month villa and you hate people. Kamala is cr*ap (555). Just kidding, I know many Australian/British people love Kamala. Maybe because they have the pub culture.

  8. It's not because you are farang, they are just incompetent to the max level...They work at Supersport but they behave like they are working at the fish market. Seen that myself as well. Especially hate when they follow you like you were there to steal stuff. It just makes me want to walk off...(in addition to the utterly ridiculous prices..shoes in Supersport 6000thb, bought on under armour official online shop at 2800..)

  9. I like how many people is envious of Phuket probably because they cannot afford living here ???? As I see Phuket is living normally, and shopping malls are full, BMW mercedes running all around, sometimes spotted Lamborghini , Aston Martin, Rolls Royce...people eating and spending at Central Festival. Yea hotels are in trouble, but most of them are big companies so who cares! Many workers already changed type of employment or moved elsewhere! Phuket is a great place for those who can afford it, don't be so angry guys! ????
