  1. I have a marriage extension on a Non O M visa. extended for 12 month.

If I go out from Thailand, and come back in, I can off course, as it is a M Visa, but the 12 month extension will be finished.

To keep my extension, I will have to get a re-entry permit before I go.

I was told that by the emigration, and it also clerly say so on the extension stamp.

With a  re-entry permit from emigration you can go out, and come back in may, and get a new extension in june in Thailand.

The lappie is a no brainer, buy in the US. Ensure it has a universal (100-250V) power supply (99% do) and that is has, or you can buy, a global warranty.

It you buy a mobile ensure it can do all the various bands and technologies in use in Thailand, there are various sites detailing these (Google is your friend). Even the same model sold in the US may have a different radio. Smartphones are cheap here if you stay off the big name stuff.

Also make sure that it will work OK at 60 HZ.

I know some has problems with US laptops in Denmark that has 60 HZ as in Thailand, The US labtops go on 50 HZ.

  3. I got a 12 md. Non Imp O  ME, on grounds of married to Thai, in Savannakhet 3 month ago. No problem, and without any financial info asked for.

Got 90 days stay stamped when returned to Mukdahan.

Asked later at the emigration in Mukdahan, whether I could get an extension on the 90 days.

Was told that I can NOT get any extension on the 90 days on that Visa. I would have to go out from Thailand, and come back in. ( To get another new 90 days)

Before the 90 days, I did however get a letter from the Danish embassy that I have a yearly income of more than 400.000 Bhat , and therefor I have now got my 90 days stay extended by 12 month at the emigration in Mukdahan.

One thing to note, is that if I want to go out of Thailand and in again for some reason, I will need  a re-entry permit.

My Visa will get me back into Thailand, as it is a ME Visa, But without a re-entry permit, I would only get a new 90 days stay at return, instead of the 12 month I have now.

It clearly states on the extension, that I need a re-entry permit, but I think that can be overlooked when one have e ME Visa.

  4. I got my multi-entry non-o based on marriage at savanakhe 2 month ago. No funds in account, and was not asked for it.

Got granted 90 days stay, when I returned to Mukdahan.

Went to the emigration in Mukdahan before the 90 days, and showed proof ( from the Danish embassy ) of hawing an income of over 400,000 TBH a year.

Got a phone call from the emigration 3 days ago, that they had received the papers back from head office, and I could come and get my passport stamped.

Got stamped the passport yesterday with: Permission to stay in Thailand till 14 Feb. 2018.

    800,000 baht in a Thai bank account or a monthly income of 65,000 baht for retirement (65,000 x 12 = 780,000)

Can be a combination of the two.

    400,000 baht in a Thai bank account, or a monthly income of 40,000 baht for marriage (40,000 x 12 = 480,000)

    No combination allowed.

I know that the Thai law say 40,000 baht monthly income , and that is 480,000

I therefore asked the Danish embassy to verify my monthly income.

The embassy wrote a back in the letter to the emigration, the amount I have pr. month in Danish Kr. and what that is equivalent to in baht.

The emigration would however not accept that, but did there own calculation.

They wanted to use my Danish monthly income x 12, and then use there currency exchange rate of the day to change it to baht.

The emigration then told me, that as my yearly income is more than 780,000 baht by there calculation I could get the 12-month extension either for retirement or as marred with Thai.

I picked up my extension, on grounds of marred with Thai yesterday.

I know the thai law say 40,000 pr. month, but if this emigration insist on using 400,000 Pr. year, I am not going to complain.

You should know that there is often differens from emigration to emigration in Thailand

  6. You can get a non-imp-O Visa in Savannakhet. (You cannot get it in Vientiane )

I got a multy entry, 12 month NonImp 0 there 3 month ago.  ( no finance needed. )

    Cost 5.000 Bht.

You will then get 90 days stay in Thailand when you return to Mukdahan Thailand.

Anytime within those 90 days you can get 12 month extension if you can show income of 800.000 Bht. pr. Year, or that you have had 800.000 bht. In a Thai bank for the last 2 month.

If you cannot show that, you cannot get an extension, but will have to go out of Thailand, and back in, to get  90 days again. ( Can do that in one day )

  7. Is there any one that can advise me, how we can get the surname of my wife’s kids changed to her married surname?

I am a Danish citizen, living in Thailand, and have been married to a Thai girl just over a year.

My wife has not been married before, but has two girls from a former relationship.

The girls are aged 10 and 13, and both have their father’s surname. My wife has sole custody over the girls.

We got married in Thailand, and my wife was then given my surname.

Her new name is on the marry certificate, in her house book, on her Id-card, and on her passport.

Both my wife and the girls ( and me ) want the surname of the girls to get changed to their mothers new surname.

We all 4 went to the ampor, and expected it to be fairly easy to get their names changed, but the ampor would not do that.

They told my wife that there would be no problem for her to change the names of the girls to her old family name, but that she could not change it to her new name.

They told my wife, that they could not change the names to her new name, as that name was not her name, but a name given to her by me, and the only way for them to get my name, is for me to adopt them.

I hope someone can suggest a way round this.

  8. Sorry 'Preacher'. I stand corrected. As far as I knew, the childs mother had to be Danish, as the child is born outside Denmark.

It look like you are right, that the child can get Danish nationality as the father is Danish, and married to the mother.

I now think it is then ewen more impotent that the child get registered with the Danish embassy.

The child will then be able to have both Danish and a Thai pasport.

  9. I am Danish. Married with a thai, and living in Thailand. I am NOT a lawyer.

It would not make any differens what the Danish husbond might think. He has to support his Family.

Hi can of cause file for a divorce in Denmark, but might still have to some extend have to support his wife, and will in any case have to support his child.

( The child is NOT Danish citizen, as stated by Preacher, bus otherwise his answer is also correct. )

She should contact the Danish embassy, in Bangkok, or direct using the link send above by Paul Catton.

As I have stated, I am not a lawyer or anything of the sort, but I can help you with any translation from Danish, regarding any forms.

As I see it, the only trouble can be, if the birth of the child is not registered in Denmark. But that can still be done, as the fathers name is on the birth certificate.

It might all take some paperwork, but it does mene a lot of money in all, from now until the child is 18 years old.
