  1. If they are women? No, if they're women they shouldn't be banned. Why, do you think they should?
  2. I'm offended that they allowed trans women to compete in women's sport in the first place, and I expect those women who were beaten by trans women having dedicated their lives to the sport would feel absolutely livid. The governing body came to the right decision this week, but they should have reached this conclusion BEFORE any trans athletes were allowed to ruin the careers of female athletes.
  3. A (passionately woke) female friend of mine was raging on FB about this news last night. She asked why they haven't also banned FTM (female to male) trans people from competing in men's sport. That's because women who transition to men don't suddenly start winning all the medals and breaking men's world records. Which in fact highlights the unfairness of trans women competing in women's sport even more.
  4. Median wealth per country: UK $141,000 US $93,000 Switzerland $168,000 Germany $60,000 France $139,000 Thailand $8,000 I see it as helping their own citizens while trying to stay profitable, rather than penalising foreigners. As long as the price is reasonable for me that's fine, and 300 baht is a bargain! Why get so hung up on these things?
  5. I tried that same climb 3 years ago (was 50 yrs old then). I gave up half way because it was too much and I actually thought it could kill me. I later regretted giving up - but reading this story I no longer regret that decision. I'm reasonably fit, but there's something about stairs that just saps everything out of me. I had a similar issue at the Great Wall, but managed to conquer that one. I don't think my ticker is designed to cope with steps. RIP sir - you lived life!
  6. Great news. This is a sure sign that an independent Britain can still be a major player on the world stage, despite what the brexit doomsayers like to tell us. It will create more jobs in Barrow and Derby as well as give a long term economic boost. These benefits are in addition to shoring up defences in the Pacific region and letting China know they're not going to have it easy. Ok the French are not happy, but c'est la vie...
  7. Explain please - how has Brexit made it easier for a boat to get from France to the UK? Has it made the waves smaller? The record number of Channel crossings is more likely due to the people trafficking industry expanding - because they make millions from it.
  8. But it can't be solved while the UK remains soft on those arriving on boats. Whenever the UK government announces an idea to deter the people traffickers, the lefties are up in arms and do everything to stop it. There is no nice way to stop the traffickers. What's your proposal? Let me guess....work with the French...yawwwn
  9. The people smuggling gangs have grown in number and sophistication. They are making millions from these operations, and they're not going to let up while getting rich from putting people in small boats to make dangerous crossings. The UK is promoted by these gangs as being a soft touch, i.e. once you get to the UK it's highly unlikely you'll be sent back. You and others like to conflate this crisis with Tory government and/or Brexit. You fail to see that the people traffickers have just massively upped their game, and it's going to take radical measures to stop them putting more lives at risk. Radical measures are almost impossible to implement in the UK, because there are too many bleeding heart liberals waiting to stop them (and as a result keeping the people traffickers in business).
  10. Ok, maybe I worded it poorly. What I meant was striving to be accepted for what they are by all of society. Wanting to be treated with respect and with equality. I don't think the fetish stuff helps them achieve this. I doubt the average gay man on the street feels represented by a bloke wearing leather chaps with his bum cheeks on display. Maybe I'm wrong ????‍♂️
  11. So Pride marches are mainly about sex and fetishes then? I thought they were supposed to be about the LGBT community striving to fit in with society. If we're comparing Pride to penis festivals and naked bike rides, I think they're going about it in the wrong way.
  12. "disowning his son for marrying a black woman" "this racist piece of detritus" If you think all decisions are based on skin colour, maybe you're the one with race issues.
  13. I think it's about having a clear head on those days. The Buddhist days so they can think clearly about their religious commitments and what a special day it is, and election days so they actually show up to vote and make a more informed choice. In both cases they don't want people comatose all day (and not tinking too mut). I don't agree with the bans, but I believe that's the 'logic' behind them.
  14. Do you actually know what 'extreme right wing' means? Does JRM have a hidden swastika tattoo I was unaware of? Try not to exaggerate - it devalues your comment
  15. Which parts of what he said were actually racist in the true definition of the word? And explain why you think racist is the correct definition. Some people over use the words racist and racism.
  16. I can't talk for the US, but in the UK I think more discord is being spread by the constant barrage of race talk in the mainstream media and by certain black celebs. I think racial discrimination was fading away nicely over the last several decades. But I feel the current narrative is divisive. People even calling for reparations for things that happened multiple generations ago. How does that make a young black kid feel about his white peers? This stuff just keeps the hate alive IMO.
  17. The phrase "Black lives matter" also originates from an extreme group with violent tendancies.
  18. I'm sorry OP, but this was no accident. If your wife saw the dog lying in the road then drove up slowly until she couldn't see it anymore, the dog hasn't walked off so it's obviously still lying there. She'd have seen the dog if it had walked off. You have my sympathy. Nobody should have to put up with the torture you're going through with those dogs. But let's not pretend it wasn't a hit job...
  19. A drag performance is not a normal of society though is it. Men dressing up in extravagant women's clothing and makeup, making exaggerated (usually over sexualised) female gestures. Is that a good portrayal of women in society - a good message for kids? Drag shows are entertainment for some adults (although I've never understood the appeal), not educational shows for children. If you want to push for educational Trans speakers going into schools to fight for their cause, fill yer boots. But arguing for drag performances? I think you lefties are taking the LGBT argument too far and doing more damage than good for equality in the process.
  20. They didn't perform in schools or libraries for kids though. Not sure why this is necessary now.
  21. Freedom of Movement was one element of the Brexit vote, but not the sole reason. People on the Remain side keep using this argument; "you voted leave to take control of your borders, now look at all the immigrants coming in!" That's a false argument. FOM was stopped after Brexit, so the Leave campaign promise was met. What we have now is thousands coming over on boats illegally. That would have happened anyway, leave or remain. Yes the UK government's handling of illegal immigration is a shambles and a disgrace. But don't link this to Brexit.
