  1. Thanks. Another cautious but encouraging and optimistic report.
  2. Backed up by this early report on SA Less need for oxygen with shorter stays in hospital. No spike in deaths seen even as cases increase. Still early doors to read too much for Omicron but early signs look promising and a good read for those interested in the early data. https://www.samrc.ac.za/news/tshwane-district-omicron-variant-patient-profile-early-features

  4. Optimistic maybe but reports all around the forums of visible increase in numbers of tourists arriving to resorts. Can’t see anyone worrying about the new variant as it’s not even here here, unless you are one of those with a particularly nervous disposition.
  5. True, but hard to believe going by the hysteria you can read. Can you imagine what it will be like if a person dies of it.
  6. Data backed up by this latest study Into the most recent data. Looks promising but still early days to jump to too many conclusions. https://www.samrc.ac.za/news/tshwane-district-omicron-variant-patient-profile-early-features

  8. Good news and still managing to keep the new variant out.
  9. Latest positive data another large fall in the number of deaths recorded over the past 7 days dropping another 26% along with a further reduction of 18% in the number of new infections according to the worldometer table. Still no reports of the new Omicron variant https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/weekly-trends/#weekly_table 89 Thailand 34,428 42,232 -18% 491 237 320 -26% 3 70,049,814
  10. Yes there is a general dismissal of any concerns about the type of paperwork one has when building homes. I’m guessing the reason they all want Chanotes is to sell on at a huge profit. A Thai lady I am aware of has just sold 10 rai of land around a lake, 6 of which has Chanote, for reportedly 7 million baht. The buyers are from Bangkok and are already digging out to build a large hotel. She, in the meantime, bought a non Chanote one rai plot for 300,000 from a family member. I say reportedly as we all know they can tell a porkie or two. It seems the same wealthy family and friends of, are looking to buy a lot more in what they see as prime land and investment opportunities and obviously see a market in the future for people retreating to Isaan. I think one result of Covid is that more people with money may be looking to get away from the big cities and either build second homes or move away from the areas that got the worst covid hits. Good luck to her, and her family.
  11. I think what you say in general is true but there are many people, Thais and foreigners who have built homes on such land and although in principle a risk, no one has heard of anyone who has been asked to knock it down as a result. In fact, in many of the villages are sois full of properties that do not have Chanotes and the new building still continues. Currently there seems to be some kind of program where people are able to upgrade their land to Chanote status and there have been queues of villagers turning up to meet the local chief or another official to submit their paperwork to progress to the next phase. Obviously this may not be the policy everywhere and may not come to fruition, but the locals seem optimistic.
  12. Nonsense indeed. The country’s priorities should be first and foremost to get all children back at school and to remain there. I can’t say I’ve experienced or heard of many similar cases to yourself in that respect. Clearly knee jerking and panicking which I’m afraid won’t go away while all the speculation and over reaction has already begun about a virus that they have neither not yet found in the country, or know the true extent of any data. This type of hysteria just feeds the narrative sadly so you can expect this type of knee jerking decision making to continue where it’s already present, and maybe get even worse if/when they finally find a case
  13. Perspective is a word that many do not like to use as it highlights the other real underlining issues that are happening such as cancer patients backlogs, suicides and mental health issues etc.
  14. Positive latest data from worldometer shows a further reduction in the number of deaths by 25% over the past 7 days., along with a 18% drop in new cases. Still no Omicron cases detected in Thailand as of yet. 89 Thailand 35,578 43,384 -18% 508 240 319 -25% 3 70,049,337 https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/weekly-trends/#weekly_table
  15. Ask Santa for a new calculator for Xmas. 4,704 + 964 = 5668 …………….not 6,008
  16. Amazing. Seems Flowers has gone from hero to zero in the space of a few weeks with his inside information. ????
  17. True. It’s only a YouTube announcement but it is from Flowers who is seen by some as the man who knows all in Pattaya nightlife so fingers crossed.
  18. Thanks for the confirmation. Massive milestone. Now to 70% by end of month!
  19. Lots of stuff on YouTube saying the same as recent as yesterday so let’s be hopeful for the many people who rely on these for Xmas/new year income. Plenty of people still seem to be having fun on the beaches in the evenings, large gatherings, music and booze. Looks pretty relaxed with minimal restrictions re masks wearing etc.
  20. Probably the same source as the info re Thailand.
  21. Thailand now passed 60% fully vaccinated. Another 10% required in December to reach the government target of having 70% fully vaccinated by the end of the year. Looking good. https://covidvax.live/en/location/tha
  22. Good news as Thailand continues to fall down the worldometer rankings as the number of deaths over the past week falls 31% to a new low of 3 deaths/ million of population and still no Omicron cases found so far. 92 Thailand 35,755 43,906 -19% 510 235 340 -31% 3 70,048,860 https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/weekly-trends/#weekly_table
