A sign of what is to come by grandfathering 90,000 T&G holidaymakers including those who will be arriving from current Omicron Hotspots. One couple tested negative after 24 hours then infecting family members allowed to roam and now potentially infect another 100+. Multiply that scenario a few times and another lockdown awaits.

WHO Recommends Canceling Holiday Activities Amid Omicron Spread
Kadilo replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
For someone who has been banging about kids playing in the park and people out walking in the fresh air with no face covering on for fear of spreading the virus, telling everyone how to stay safe and look after loved ones etc to now think it’s ok to travel to Covid hotspots and return under T&G because it suits you to change your tune, how convenient………..do me a favour, save your sermon for someone who wants to listen. Fair play to the previous poster for pointing it out. -
Dr. Yong: Omicron variant transmits and spreads quickly
Kadilo replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
They have in effect given up already by allowing another 90,000 people to enter under T&G knowing many will be coming in from Omicron hotspots. So just open up, stop playing lip service and give the Thai people their livelihoods back -
WHO Recommends Canceling Holiday Activities Amid Omicron Spread
Kadilo replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
There is a report that 34 out of 100 current Omicron cases identified at that time are from T&G. That number may now well be higher. I have no idea how they can be sure but that is what they are reporting. It may well have occurred at the Airports and/or during the flight and not picked up in the immediate 24hr test. According to other reports there is a good chance that infection can occur at airports and on the plane hence the WHO advice and why Thailand are switching to the 7 days period so these cases can be picked up in the future. Unfortunately there will be those who arrive and/or return from holiday hotspots who are still able to use the loophole and slip through the net and with the doubling every couple of days you dont need many for a large cluster to form and potentially cause another lockdown. -
WHO Recommends Canceling Holiday Activities Amid Omicron Spread
Kadilo replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Same reason that a number have already been detected after they left quarantine following a negative test under T&G. and have now managed to infect and spread it to others. 90,000 people who are still allowed to enter under T&G, including travelling from Hotspots such as UK and USA, and will be able to exploit the current loophole and leave the hotel after one night which has clearly been shown to result in missed cases being allowed to infect the community. They seem caught between a rock and a hard place. Pointless cancelling other events which will help bring revenue to Thai people if they are happy for holidaymakers to arrive under T&G which will spread it anyhow. Either open up or shut, half way serves no purpose. -
WHO Recommends Canceling Holiday Activities Amid Omicron Spread
Kadilo replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It’s good advice and common sense at this time but unfortunately Thailand has mistakenly left the door open for people to exploit and potentially infect the country with their grandfathering quarantine. Let’s hope the health services don’t get overwhelmed with the inevitable incoming of Omicron as a result and worse case another extended lockdown. -
Test and Go: Tourists who received QR code can still enter Thailand
Kadilo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes looks like out of the 100 or so Omicron cases detected so far 34 are from T&G so it’s clear if they continue to allow thousands more in under that scheme then it will indeed cause more spread and defeats the object of what they claim they are trying to achieve. Does feel like a Piers Morgan/Boris moment when you have people regularly reminding others to stay safe and look after others, concerned about people walking and kids playing in parks in the open air without face coverings on, but happy to participate in a scheme which is clearly going to bring in more Omicron. As you say it needs to be consistent and should be all or nothing at this stage especially as he is already hinting that it at it may only be short term. Just adds to more confusion. -

It’s doubtful he will be able to go that far as he’s being controlled by his own back benchers who won’t allow it. -
Thailand suspends ‘Thailand Pass’ and ‘Test & Go’
Kadilo replied to Jonathan Fairfield's topic in Thailand News
I believe he also said that there wasn’t a time limit to enter by January 10th as reported in Thai media, which has again been mentioned in the thread update, so be interesting to see if he got that right or not also. -

Thailand suspends ‘Thailand Pass’ and ‘Test & Go’

An unfortunate but somewhat inevitable situation with regards to the return of the quarantine just as bars/restaurants were starting to open up and tourists returning for Xmas/New Year. More importantly, unfortunate for the people of Thailand and the economy who desperately need tourists to return in numbers as it is them who will be the real victims again just as their optimism would have been increasing. Let’s hope the restrictions are minimised and lifted as soon as possible for their sake.- 398 replies

Thailand may cancel Test & Go due to Omicron: Anutin

You would hope there will be a changeover period and a defined date where the current rule changes to give people a clear indication of where they stand and what they need to change for their particular circumstances. Hopefully soon. -

If confirmed, an unfortunate but somewhat inevitable situation with regards to the return of the quarantine just as bars/restaurants were starting to open up and tourists returning for Xmas/New Year. Good to see videos of tourists areas busy again for the festive period however long it lasts. . More importantly, unfortunate for the people of Thailand and the economy who desperately need tourists to return in numbers as it is them who will be the real victims just as their optimism would have been increasing. SURVEY: Omicron--Dangerous, Worrisome or Overblown?
Kadilo replied to Scott's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
Today’s UK Covid update: New cases up around 1,700. New Deaths with Covid sharp fall to 44 along with a fall of 133 in hospital with Covid. Johnson called a cabinet meeting to discuss the situation. Summary of which from the BBC: As a result ministers have to "reserve the possibility of taking further action" to protect public health and the NHS - with a range of measures being considered and "nothing" ruled out The PM acknowledged the impact of recent behavioural changes by some people - such as booking cancellations - on businesses including the hospitality industry - saying the economic impacts would be kept "under constant review" He insisted a photo of a gathering in the Downing Street garden while the UK was under Covid restrictions last year, was of "people at work, talking about work" (lol) He also said “it could not get more urgent”…………….so for now we will do nothing, so clearly not that urgent I think it’s called Political Paralysis, his own party are holding him to ransom and today the “gathering” pics from last May where he held a “business” meeting with his wife, baby and others in the gardens of number 10 with wine, no social distancing and mixing of households…….despite a televised briefing by Hancock the same evening telling everyone not to. Another “do what I say not what I do” moment from the crippled, dysfunctional leaderless government
