Its because they are sticking to the curfew, but foreigners dont seem to be doing it.

So they are saying if the authorities wont take care of it , they will.

Which is right, the rules have been put there for a reason.

I can understand why they are a little <deleted> off.

and how will they carry out these threats to Farangs, unless they are out breaking the curfew too. But i:m sure they will apply this rigorously to Thais on bikes too - wont they ?

You have to go to the DLT, not the land office.

Go to the police first and report the green book as lost. Take the paper they give you and go to the DLT to request a new book. Bring passport and bike. Not sure if you need a certificate of residence or not, requirements vary a bit from office to office. Some also don't need the police report but better get one.

Recommended to have someone who can speak Thai with you to make things easier.

    oops my bad, meant DLT.

Thanks for the information, yes, will take the missus with me when i go, plus lots of papers too

I assume the DLT  is still working ?

I guess i have to wait for new book before i can tax it too?

Is there a fine for late taxing ?

    Thanks Again

Yeah as always good to keep a copy of the green bike book which you should have anyway with other stuff on the bike, then the problem can be solved without panic.

Thanks, I thought i had, but seems not

Have all others but somehow the green book and copies have disappeared

    Thanks again

Now would be a good time to drain and clean the canals of all of the gunk and the junk that gets thrown in them.  That is what happens in Paris every few years and they find all kinds of things including safes (metal ones not the other kind), guns, bicycles, old bottles (usually empty but maybe returnable), among other things.

    'nuf sed.

I mentioned this earlier. While everywhere is shut down, with so many out of work, why not get them out on the streets, the canals, the drains, etc and have a damm good clean and repair. Was in both Bangkok and Pattaya a few weeks ago, first time for a long time. Really showed how dirty and decrepid the places were with no people about

A covid19 carrier walks past you and sneezes in your face unexpectedly - would you have wanted an N95 facemask on ?

do these masks cover your eyes too? If someone sneezes in your face, only a face visor will protect you. If someone sneezes in my face, its a baseball bat i would want, or a shotgun !!

Shame on you - don't go there! You are trying to argue an absolute (ALL people not coughing and sneezing are incapable of spreading the virus).

There are asymptomatic people around the world who are spreading the virus. IF these asymptomatic people (of which you might be one) wear a mask, they (you!) minimize the spread. Ferchrissake, is it really that hard to wear a mask when in public?

what about gloves, not all virus is spread by air , its also a contact virus, Yes/No ?

On Soi Buakhow within spitting distance of Sutus Court is a small pharmacy with plenty of masks (as of two days ago).

It's a known scam. Create a technical breach of anti-terrorism laws, then threaten to prosecute and if the victim doesn't cough up some dosh, go ahead and prosecute, the courts don't care about what's right and what isn't, they can't function without the police so there's quite a lot of back-scratching goes on. Justice is not on their mind, lists of crimes and fines is. I have a small personal experience of paid and unpaid back-scratching by the Thai judiciary

Someone needs to take the BiB round to the woodshed and explain why scamming the people you rely on for tourism dollars isn't the smartest thing in the world to do; the money goes up the tree anyway so nothing official will ever happen, check out the Red Bull incident for a demonstration of how Thai law enforcement works, and he killed a copper for Gawd's sake..

Bur then so far as I'm aware, nobody ever accused a Thai of being unusually smart, a low animal cunning is usually the best they can do. Preying on tourists or immigrants who expected better is their stock-in-trade. Unsuspecting victims.

Having said that, not all coppers and judiciary are corrupt, but all do accept that others of their ilk are.

Not all coppers are corrupt ??? wow, so how do they get their jobs and how do they pay for the "extras" that their bosses require ?

Good post.  Believe me, I hear you.

Ok, so the travel insurance is a future issue, but in my opinion, it will be in issue for Thailand in the future.  I think it is on topic, but I agree, it's for the future.

Vietnam didn't mess about.  They will be through this a lot quicker than many countries, and way quicker than Thailand. Their tourism industry increased 28.9% in one year.  There might just be a changing of the guard when all this is finished.

At the moment, and I repeat, at the moment, there are not make shift hospitals and morgues being built and dead everywhere.  However, as you said, that "might" happen.  A lot of tourists that may have Corona have left Thailand.  They are now back in their home country, either healthy, sick, or dead.  They will not appear on Thailand's statistics.

The recent shut downs saw thousands of predominately younger Thai's, working in tourism, and hospitality, and also the sex trade, return home to mama, papa, and grand mama, and grand papa.  In my opinion, a crazy move, but also a smart move.  They can control what information comes out of Issan more easily, plus, it will create the illusion that Pattaya did not have the virus so bad.

So, I think you will see a rising death toll in Issan shortly, and that will make global news.

well so far no sign of anyone coming back to our village or the villages either side of us with the virus, but still a few on lock down, like me So giving the amount of people returning, from many different towns and cities, plus places like Korea, i dont see any evidence of mass infections or deaths so far.

Since when?  Last trip out about 6 months ago wife completed the cards, departure card was taken when we left and arrival card half was collected on arrival.  Been this way for many years.  So when did it change or are you perhaps mis-informed.

No arrival or departure card needed for my Thai lady , but needed completed app on phone for arrival in March

  12. 5 hours ago, PETERTHEEATER said:

The PP holder's address at application may be encoded in the ID page but their intended destination after entry is not declared.

well when we arrived back at swamp ,21st March,  both I and my Thai lady had to fill in the app on arrival, which asked for seat numbers and addresses we will be going to, which included Bangkok and our village address, so would be simple to trace a Thai after arrival

  13. Same in Nackon Phanom villages

Just returned from the UK with the missus, had to make first stop to nearest clinic and report in, then to tell her sister, who was looking after the house, to move out to parents while we go into lockdown mode for 14 days

Seems to be a few people returning from Bangkok and places doing the same , with the rest of the villages keeping a beady eye on us to make sure we stay put

Just been trying to sort out someone to go shopping for us , sorting out my Firestick and wondering if i will still be talking to her indoors after so long together !

Is it acceptable to go for ride on my bike, if not stopping anywhere. Would be by myself, so not sure what harm it could do

Stay safe out there, long way to go

Ha ha ha. All these twits who complain about the risk to their health from being in an immigration queue would be happy to cram into the "Red Lion Bar" as soon as it opens. And I see that these same people cannot even maintain a safe distance between each other. Fine the lot of them for irresponsible queuing while you are fining them for overstaying.

Watched the people in Jomtien immigrationshouting at the long Long queues of Farangs , “ to move up, move up”

long queues of people forced to stand almost touching each other

yet in the bank,Farang gets told off for standing too close to desk !
