I think something got lost in the translation but you're stuck with it now - rent a friend and get it done. They don't need any 'guarantees' whatsoever - I've taxed both my bikes every year for many years, done the annual safety check and owner transfer/new plates. Not once have I ever been asked for a guarantee. What would they be guaranteeing anyway?
Just out of interest, which DLT office are you talking about - I can probably sort it for you if you can use the Pak Chong office.
Thanks KhayoYai
was in the Nakhon Phanom office in Isaan. No losing in translation, got the same reply in english as my lady got in Thai
Guarantee? Exactly, but would not explain what that meant to me, and my lady just says "this is Thailand, we do for you"
I think next time i go on my own and see what happens. See if they still want Thai ID card, House book and Thai paperwork filled in
Do you have to fill any paperwork in, and is it in English for you to know what you sign for ?

Go with the flow ... the run-a-round is probably to teach you to be more careful and not loose the book again. Next year you should be OK.
And the reason for stating i need Thai for guarantee, to tax the bike ??
So to not allow a Farang to get book without Thai, is acceptable and true ? . At 35 baht its no bother, its just the bullsh+t and stupid paperwork needed to get a simple thing, that they already have on their so called computer
And the stupid looks and remarks i get when i DARE to ask questions as to why they need all these things, when its already on the computer
They even asked for my original passport, not my colour copies of main pages and visa page, did not like that i had got my visa in another province, and was going to refuse me due to that

No request for a police report on the lost book ?
Nope, no problems with that, just the fact that they state "Farang can no do , need Thai"

Just been down to the local Land office to get new green book for bike, that i lost a while ago. Took copies of house book, passport, visa, copy of green book, etc
Given lots of papers, about 6, all in Thai and told to fill in. When i asked why, was told give to your Thai lady to fill in , and need I D card, house book and she must fill in for you
When i said no Thai lady with me, he said you come back with Thai lady/friend who needs to fill in the paperwork for you to provide guarantee.
Went back with my lady, who filled in the papers, but did not know why, just kept saying "she guarantee
Then went to desk to apply for tax, told need more copies, more papers, need Thai guarantee
Another trip to provide these, and when asked why i, a farang, need a Thai to guarantee a simple thing like tax and green book, told, "Farang no can do, need Thai""
Anyone else had this problem getting a new book or tax on their own ?
Get some serious earache from my lady when i ask "WHY", when its my bike, my name. told, "this is Thailand, we need guarantees !
Seems its all on computers now, so why the need for all the paperwork and copies just for a simple thing ?

Obviously the message is drinkers are not trustworthy which is already a known fact. If this step leads to lack of virus control and a health issue I have no doubt they will shut it all down just as fast. So, I guess it's up to the drinkers to maintain virus awareness in public - trouble is 1 in 5 of you are already out of control so that becomes very problematic. So, if this experiment goes south and there's a covid spike, and if it gets all shut down again you can blame each other instead of the government.
but there no cases of Thai population, including Farangs, having the virus, only the incoming Thais, who should be checked and quarantined, so how can we have a spike ?

But, But, the government says there are no cases or deaths in people living here, only on incoming Thais, so why not open up everything. Then when they let in the Chinese and other people, we will see who is bringing the virus into the country, cos certainly not the existing population

"The media said that tourists were cooperating by wearing masks and social distancing, keeping one to two meters apart."
Do you get arrested for being 2.10 metres apart?
How can they be 2m apart on the boat crossing to there ?

I shall watch out for you making a comment about 'stupid Thai drivers' when the next speed related accident is reported on TVF.
aren't all motor accidents "speed related", with many of them due to slow drivers too ?
Driving to suit the road conditions is the correct way, which can be at a fast speed, but perfectly safe if roads quiet, not crawling along hogging the road, forming a rolling roadblock, which so many Thais seem to do

always carry a bag of small coins for when i get stopped for speeding. Tip them out on the table to pay the fine, Really pisses them off
Same as when stopped, .They say you speeding, i say no and close the window. Wait till he produces a photo, then take my time examining it before handing it back . If table for payment is across the road, always make him stand in the road, stop the traffic before i will cross, again, this seems to upset them a little
Points for speeding now ??? Since when and how ? Never had any, never seen any, never told by police about any.
All tickets through the post get filed under my desk, , "pending payment "

so what stops you filing the forms in, just like here at Makro, wrong phone number, mistake in name, hotel name instead of house address ?
They said the fine only applies to people who refuse to fill in the forms ?
Just like here, not enough people to follow up on this idea, and especially when they let so many in without any quarantine , make it kinda pointless

maybe they could grow their own food , given the size of land most temples have, instead of sitting on their lazy backsides, expecting the poor hardworking people to fund their lazy lifestyle. Better still, grow it, then give to the poor, like they used to do many years ago in the UK

Are they going to close down, Tesco, Big C, Makro, because i have never sen social distancing in any of these, but see lots of pretty tapes and stickers all over the place, which everyone, including me, ignores
But getting really piddled off with this logging in/signing in lark
What is the point of it ??
I tell them "No internet" then scribble donald duck on the paperwork, and ignore the signing out

I would like to know what the OP uses a grinder for ,we have a small holding rearing a few cattle and my Makita grinder has had a lot of heavy use mainly grinding steel ,have done a few blocks ,cut then with no problem ,must be 6-7 years old now.
Try another Makita, we have a local guy who repairs grinders drill etc , and not expensive ,see if you have a guy locally'
As stated before, used to cut the cheap hollow concrete blocks , usually not more than 8 or 10 blocks at a time, then might be many hours before using again
Also grinding small welds on 1" and 2" box sections, Maybe grind 20 welds then again, not use for many hours
Don't put heavy pressure on the machines, easier to let the blade/disc do the work, but find they get hot quickly, although it has been 40c just lately and have been working in the sun too

I found one time a mini circular saw for concrete. It came with a water hose and a nozzle for cooling the blade.
Maybe have a separate tool for different jobs would prolong their life?
As for angle grinder. I believe finding one with easily replaceable brushes would be good. Ie exposed plastic screw in plugs which hold the brushes.
My last grinder had these plastic screws to access the brushes, one popped out and give me a nice belt when i made contact with the spring. Looks like i might have to try the De Walt one, and ignore the , so called, 3 year guarantee.
Have a Sthil saw in the UK, always used this for cutting any concrete/brick, still going strong after 20+ years
Seems an awful lot of things here soon fail, and try to get a repair or replacement is a joke, kettles, irons, lights, even the office chairs

What are you doing with them for them, all good brands to die so soon?
Are you using and storing them correctly?
Not trying to be a smart @#s, but looks like you're killing them.
use them for cutting the cheap concrete blocks , some light steel cutting, and grinding off welds, nothing heavy, just steady use
In construction since leaving school, so know how to use power tools., and when all the tools are paid for by yourself, you soon learn to look after them.
Have tools in the Uk that's been used, and sometimes abused, still going strong after many years, so not sure why these overheat and conk out so easily. Stored under the workbench in the work shed, warm and dry when not in use

Dewalt hands down. I work in industry and they are used worldwide and considered very reliable.
I also have the cordless Dewalt angle grinder sitting on my desk right now, very good.Ihave used De Walt for many years, but bought in the UK, and always lasted. Told that De walt here are chinese made copies ?. And around 1,700 baht ??

Hi there.
And stop laughing at my post, cos thats what i really want. Any recommendations for a decent, long lasting 100mm angle grinder here in the land of <deleted> and copies ?
My last grinder decided to go Phuttt today, the 5th one in just over 3 years. Have tried Bosch, Makita, both packed up quickly, then went to buying 2 cheap ones at a time, managed around 6 months if lucky
Went to Mega Home today, had a muppet on the shop floor telling me how good the guarantee was on a De Walt. # years he said, but on the box said, "Limited Guarantee" and could not/would tell me what this meant, Any advice would be welcome, but can't help thinking the prices of 45 uk pounds + for what would be a 10 pound unit in the Uk , and with a decent guarantee !

Maybe a silly question
But, what would happen if you reuse to ride in the back of the pick up, ?
Not only against the Law, but dangerous too, but the police seem to pick and choose which laws the like to enforce, usually the one with the most money at the end

Needed to get back early from Uk before lock down, so had to purchase new single flights for me and my lady
E mailed Qatar Airways with proof, 2 weeks later received vouchers for 200 us dollars
2 weeks after that, received 27,000 baht back into my credit card.
Always prefer Qatar, and refuse to fly BA due to bad service, old planes and mostly higher fares

If nothing has changed, entering the province is prohibited.
My eldest daughter is a doctor at That Phanom hospital and we cannot go to visit her while we live in the province of Sakon Nakhon .The two provinces have a long common border
google maps are your friend for getting around. Lots of ways to and from the 2 provinces that do not involve checkpoints, Just ask the locals if not sure

our immigration office states 3 months, even when shown the official paperwork showing 2 months
Office is Nakhon Phanom
cannot tax bike without Thai guarantee ?
