Hi there , wondering if someone can give me some advice
Have an iPad air2m around 4 years old and until a week ago, perfect.
But its suddenly decided to lose its power, so quickly, can watch it count down till it shuts down. Get less than 45 minutes on full charge.
Can i just get a new battery fitted ? I'm in Nakhon Phanom, so definitely no access to Apple shops,
Was thinking of trying some of the local Phone stands in the shopping centers,. If battery replacement is not possible, then would need new iPad
Is Lazada any good to buy from ? and still be able to register it? Around 13.000 baht
Or do i pay much more and go direct to Apple store for delivery, but would take much longer, around 18,000 baht
Am happy with the Air2, plus have bought expensive case for it only 3 months ago,
thanks

Well, for at least 10 years people have been talking about the big crack down coming on agents.
It is never ever going to happen it is way too much money being spread throughout the entire system.
Now way, no how.
And, actually the agent facilitated applications are down now. So, less scrutiny will probably be used by IO's to get the applications through, not more.
The 25,000 b someone mentioned is not terrible as I know guys in Bangkok paying almost twice that now.
To add, not everyone who uses an agent is some non qualifier. In fact, the several I know in BKK are actually wealthy and do not want to hassle with waiting at immigration and the process, so they pay.
Paid 12,900 for visa in Pattaya 3 months ago

I mentions a week or so ago that the Mrs said that most Thais want to borders shut. Humm. TVer's scoffed. Yet, here we are.
Go figure, 'eh? Shoot the messenger.Doe's she also say this includes the dirty Thais who bring the virus back with them ? According to the goverment, we have no cases from the existing people in Thailand, which included Farangs
Why the worry with the virus, the scared Thais, who often either go without masks, or fail to wear them properly, yet will accept the death of thousand of their children on the roads ?

Some whites might, and some previously privileged blacks perhaps. But all on all no black wants to go back to a time where they would get murdered and whites would get off without a trial. People ended up disapearing never to be heard from again.
Was this happening when the so called Great Nelson Mandela was running the country ? The hundreds of blacks who were murdered and disapeared, The blacks who were promised good housing, fresh water and sanitation, jobs, etc. And how did that work out ? How about the blacks who murdered and stole the farms from the whites, the same white who managed to make that part the bread basket, with jobs for thousands of people, how are they doing now that they have the land back ?

op it seems to be that the common denominator with your problems with the DLT and car repair shop is you.
attitude is very important when dealing with people in offices etc, from a position of authority, i used to say when dealing with people, give me attitude get more of the same back.
sorry mate, far too old to start kissing someones <deleted> !
Attitude, so asking why, when told to do something by a pen pusher is Attitude ? All they have to do is explain why things are needed, not just stand there and so "you do" or :no can do"
But as usual here, people think a pen pusher is authority and will never question what they say, even when they know what they are being told is incorrect.
So the repair shop works for me ?? his contract is to the insurance company, not me, so why the need for all the paperwork from me, paperwork that their client, the insurance company has many times over. Is it wrong to be told Go away, no can do, because i dont have the paperwork that they forgot to tell me i needed ? Is it wrong for me to ask why they need it from me ?
or do i just say yes sir, no sir, and do another 95 k round trip and another morning wasted, just because he won't ask his client for the paperwork , instead of me
Do i have an attitude ? maybe, . I treat most people as i would like to be treated, with the respect they deserve, which in some cases here, can be very little.

Sounds like a new boss flexing his muscles, done mine for years car and bike no problem. I can see something like a loan but tax please you get 500 or 600 bhat every year. But Thais get also needing extra paper work.
Yup, but not new boss, i think
I agree on things like loans or HP, but a simple road tax?
What do they do with all this paperwork ?
do they even look at it ?
cos i get so piddled off i just scribble my name on it and either scribble my signature or just put an X, and nobody ever questions it

on another simialar vein regarding paperwork and WHY?
had a bump in the car, new back bumper, new back light
Takes it to garage as per insurance, told to come back with paperwork ??
Need passport, Visa, house book and her ID card before they can even look at the car
Also need to bring the BIG back bumper to the garage for them to look at
Cut it in two so i could get it in car, then they complain that i should have kept it whole, even though it won't fit in the car and is obviously badly damaged
Went back yesterday to see when its getting repaired, told i needed another copy of passort, insurance paper. first. Again i get crazy man look when i ask why i need these when their contract is with the insurance company, not me, Now find they want a week to refit a new bumper and back light ? I say 2 day, they say not possible !!
Love this place, but sometimes feel like banging heads to get sensible answers from them

Not sure which is the worst thing when doing this sort of thing in Thailand
All the bullsh"t and paperwork that im sure just gets dumped somewhere, never to be seen again, or
the look you get when you dare to question them on why they want these things , when they have computers ?

Nice one.
Is there any restrictions on where you can renew your annual visa ??
They finally accepted it after consultation with others, but i visa issued by an official immigration office , not matter which one, is surely not a reason to refuse to issue a new green book, or to renew the tax disc ?

I think something got lost in the translation but you're stuck with it now - rent a friend and get it done. They don't need any 'guarantees' whatsoever - I've taxed both my bikes every year for many years, done the annual safety check and owner transfer/new plates. Not once have I ever been asked for a guarantee. What would they be guaranteeing anyway?
Just out of interest, which DLT office are you talking about - I can probably sort it for you if you can use the Pak Chong office.
Thanks KhayoYai
was in the Nakhon Phanom office in Isaan. No losing in translation, got the same reply in english as my lady got in Thai
Guarantee? Exactly, but would not explain what that meant to me, and my lady just says "this is Thailand, we do for you"
I think next time i go on my own and see what happens. See if they still want Thai ID card, House book and Thai paperwork filled in
Do you have to fill any paperwork in, and is it in English for you to know what you sign for ?

Go with the flow ... the run-a-round is probably to teach you to be more careful and not loose the book again. Next year you should be OK.
And the reason for stating i need Thai for guarantee, to tax the bike ??
So to not allow a Farang to get book without Thai, is acceptable and true ? . At 35 baht its no bother, its just the bullsh+t and stupid paperwork needed to get a simple thing, that they already have on their so called computer
And the stupid looks and remarks i get when i DARE to ask questions as to why they need all these things, when its already on the computer
They even asked for my original passport, not my colour copies of main pages and visa page, did not like that i had got my visa in another province, and was going to refuse me due to that

No request for a police report on the lost book ?
Nope, no problems with that, just the fact that they state "Farang can no do , need Thai"

Just been down to the local Land office to get new green book for bike, that i lost a while ago. Took copies of house book, passport, visa, copy of green book, etc
Given lots of papers, about 6, all in Thai and told to fill in. When i asked why, was told give to your Thai lady to fill in , and need I D card, house book and she must fill in for you
When i said no Thai lady with me, he said you come back with Thai lady/friend who needs to fill in the paperwork for you to provide guarantee.
Went back with my lady, who filled in the papers, but did not know why, just kept saying "she guarantee
Then went to desk to apply for tax, told need more copies, more papers, need Thai guarantee
Another trip to provide these, and when asked why i, a farang, need a Thai to guarantee a simple thing like tax and green book, told, "Farang no can do, need Thai""
Anyone else had this problem getting a new book or tax on their own ?
Get some serious earache from my lady when i ask "WHY", when its my bike, my name. told, "this is Thailand, we need guarantees !
Seems its all on computers now, so why the need for all the paperwork and copies just for a simple thing ?

Obviously the message is drinkers are not trustworthy which is already a known fact. If this step leads to lack of virus control and a health issue I have no doubt they will shut it all down just as fast. So, I guess it's up to the drinkers to maintain virus awareness in public - trouble is 1 in 5 of you are already out of control so that becomes very problematic. So, if this experiment goes south and there's a covid spike, and if it gets all shut down again you can blame each other instead of the government.
but there no cases of Thai population, including Farangs, having the virus, only the incoming Thais, who should be checked and quarantined, so how can we have a spike ?

1 hour ago, smedly said:they should have allowed bars to open when they are allowing restaurants to sell alcohol - discos and nightclubs are by nature completely different and attract big numbers in a confined space making social distancing impossible
But, But, the government says there are no cases or deaths in people living here, only on incoming Thais, so why not open up everything. Then when they let in the Chinese and other people, we will see who is bringing the virus into the country, cos certainly not the existing population

Do you get arrested for being 2.10 metres apart?
How can they be 2m apart on the boat crossing to there ?

I shall watch out for you making a comment about 'stupid Thai drivers' when the next speed related accident is reported on TVF.
aren't all motor accidents "speed related", with many of them due to slow drivers too ?
Driving to suit the road conditions is the correct way, which can be at a fast speed, but perfectly safe if roads quiet, not crawling along hogging the road, forming a rolling roadblock, which so many Thais seem to do

always carry a bag of small coins for when i get stopped for speeding. Tip them out on the table to pay the fine, Really pisses them off
Same as when stopped, .They say you speeding, i say no and close the window. Wait till he produces a photo, then take my time examining it before handing it back . If table for payment is across the road, always make him stand in the road, stop the traffic before i will cross, again, this seems to upset them a little
Points for speeding now ??? Since when and how ? Never had any, never seen any, never told by police about any.
All tickets through the post get filed under my desk, , "pending payment "

cannot tax bike without Thai guarantee ?
in Motorcycles in Thailand
Posted
Thanks for your late reply, but perhaps you should know, ( hint not English ) ,all this was carried out in Thai, not English, so no mistake in translation in the statement, Need Thai guarantee !! Need ID card, Need house book, - No mistakes !
So a Thai, working in a position dealing with non Thais, is unable to speak English ? So not very good customer service is it ?
Yup, probably a lot more runarounds, and a whole lot more of losing face for them too,
