Electric Vehicles in Thailand

Yes, there are reasons not to use that max regen, and that is comfort: At max regen level, at the moment of disengaging cruise control, everybody's head bobs quite violently. because the regen comes on instantly at max deceleration. BTW - this is the same with the MG, except on that model I can give 2 quick pulls on the paddles before disengaging. The Seal does the same instant max decel when lifting, but that can be compensated by lifting the foot from the accelerator gradually. However, with different cars in a household with different decl behavior, the boss of the house made me change the regen to standard, her driving style is not conducive to constantly change to different cars, she just wants it smooth. Since the Seal has brake blending, the amount of regenerated energy should be the same in both settings. -

For me, the whole point of ceramic coating is the paint preparation by a qualified detailer, i.e. polishing to max the shine and sparkle. Ceramic coating just seals in the shine, protects from bird droppings (or the tokay gecko who is always aiming for one of our cars) tree sap, nail polish etc. -

I am debating of getting a ceramic coating, I love shiny things ???? - the wrap just looks dull after a while. -

Thanks. Indeed - I noticed M/C drivers in particular are gawking, the model is definitely very new and unique, and the color fits this car very well. -

Hey - I have not been old all my life......as for ugly, well, wear extra dark glasses, solves that problem. And as far as your sleuthing is concerned, yes, I am on file with the FBI, but not for the reasons you suspect, and here is part of the answer to the riddle of my handle....... gawd, do I miss those days of wind and water! ???? -

Since I am old and ugly, I try to stay away from posing.........lol so wifey was victimized for the obligatory handover pictures. It's a performance version, did some runabout around town, battery is still at over 80%. For those of you using the MG wallbox - as expected, it works, pumping electrons at 7kW. What I find annoying is that lots of the infotainment functions, including navigation, and the BYD app, are not working for the first 7 days. I wonder whether this is a Thai thing (more than one company has to mesh) or whether this is so all over the world? -

Just picked up the car - dealer will install the dash cam for THB 4000. Since I am neither Scottish nor Dutch, that is what I will have done......... ???? -

My recommendation - don't skimp on the window tint film, go with a high quality ceramic version, they are worth every penny additional cost. The best films reflect the light, not absorb it - in the latter case, it totally negates the intended purpose as the light will be converted into heat, and because most films are a very dark color, they get very hot - think black floor vs. white floor tiles. That freebee film might just not be that good of a deal after all......... I decided to get 40 on the windshield, front doors 60, and 80 for all the rest, incl. roof........ compromise based on wifey's desire to go 40 all around. -

I have to admit I find very little that that bloke says of value - he is trying to make a living on YT so he has to get clicks.......... and of course he is closet Teslafanboy, his denials notwithstanding! -

Definitely NOT one pedal driving, one of the points criticized about the Seal. Its just a different driving philosophy, more akin to a standard car. It does have brake blending, i.e. it does regen when braking. -

There are ever so many subtle differences between the EU spec Seal and what is sold in Thailand - e.g. we get 2 GB per month free Internet (10 GB for EU) the interior is in black only, the center console is downgraded, the rear view mirror is standard (frame-less in EU) the V2L is 2.2 KW here, 3 KW in the EU, the on board AC charger is 7 KW here, 11 KW in the EU, etc......... still an exceptional value. Signed up for the Performance version, delivery middle of next week from Phetchaburi dealer, 15 minutes from where we live. -

It appears the Chinese manufacturers are loath to get challenged for dumping products as the French car companies have their panties in a tangle........ with vehicle prices like this in Europe, the EU anti-dumping probe will be another demonstration how to screw their own people -

Our sales girl hinted at this range, but I discounted it as unrealistic. If this is in fact the price range, it will put insane pressure on the Tesla M3. -

Just test drove the BYD Seal performance (3.8S) - done deal if they pay enough for my MB trade in ???? My biggest gripe is the black interior (no other color option). They also replaced the piano-black middle console cover with a drab plastic cover - why on earth this was decided on is beyond me, looks so much cheaper. Compared to the Tesla Model 3 LR, the ride is close, acceleration is on par, everything inside is more high quality, it has a real instrument cluster in the dash, the heads up display is very nice, build quality is excellent...... and it looks a lot better. The 'space grey' color is drop dead gorgeous. -
Are you thinking of buying a BYD EV?

Interesting idea - apparently the plan is to sell BEV below the price pint of C-segment ICE vehicles, chiefly because they plan on using the tax incentives offered by the Thai government for this purpose........giving it to the customers, instead of pocketing it as additional profit? -

I didn't know that von der Leyen is trying to meddle in the electric vehicle business in Thailand - is she? Even after 103 pages, the topic is still 'Electric Vehicles in Thailand' - why do some fanatics constantly try to bring in their narrow minded political blabber? Sometimes I cant help but think they must be paid for doing it.
