Hummin replied to george's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion

My view on him, he have an abusive rude and disrespectful way of expressing himself. Not a person I would thrive to be around, And I could not care less about his half truths mixed with his personality. I doubt he got jailed for being disliked. Thats a far fetched conspiracy!- 91 replies

You can minimize the risk by not driving on holidays, and other crowded days or popular trafficked roads. I never drive after dark if I can avoid it. To many cars with bad quality tinted windows, to many trucks, and to many intoxicated drivers as well overworked and tired from a long day working. -
Mold you should be able to smell, and many resorts I have visited smells moldy, especially after lock down and covid.

From Phuket you can do Island hopping with boat to Koh Lipe and back! Better kayaking and dive sites as well fishing. -
I am aiming for moving when I get older, still young enough to enjoy it with daily work, exercises, and hobbies. As well part of interests motorbike touring on and off road where I have perfect tracks close to my home. There is a time for everything. If I had a kid, I would move back to Europe, and still time to retire when the kid started university. I was the one who said we moving back to your village when COVID started, and the best decision I ever made, she did not ask for it or mention it at all, because if she did, she knew I would say no. So if anything forced me to Isaan, it was potential complete lock down in a city, locked inside a condo complex when we already had a remote bungalow with open landscape, and potentially more freedom from what was obviously coming for months maybe years if we looked at the history of Spanish flue. Seems I did the right thing getting out in time, and now thrive there. I do not need to live there, andI think that must be awful, being stuck somewhere and have no other option.

Everything is better on the west coast, except beer and food prices! Looking for best value holiday, and not worried about spending 1500,- 3000,- usd more on a 3 week holiday, you go to the west coast and not necessary Phuket! Looking for cheapest holiday Pattaya, but the beaches and water is not even fear im comparison. Beaches on Koh Lan is ok. -
Where did In trash talking the bike? I was speaking my experience and impression on the bike, and I prefer sports tourer and adventure bikes, and HD do not have any of those qualities Im looking for. And truth is, same as for many brands in Thailand, they lack the good service line and support.
-
Always helping with what we have and can, and thais are great to offer transport and often do not want any money, it is not about helping or not, it is about reliability of the brand, especially here In Thailand, and before also in Europe. Not sure how it is these days if they brought up their service line to as good as any Japanese or europe brand.

Enough comedy for today mr Kawa! Have a good new year, and we pick up the bickering next year!

Im well aware of the road quality here in Thailand and elsewhere, also in some parts of Uk. I was merely talking about safety and accident statistics. The good thing about Thailand, is to get used to expect anything around the next corner coming at you whatever it is. Or anything anywhare.
-
You should check your statistics before claiming it safer then UK
-
And when we are on a group tour, guess what brand we have to wait for because of <deleted> happens? Always a HD, and a few Ducatis I experienced.

Harley is Cruiser and Cafe riders, not many buy a Harley for sports touring or adventure riding, at least how I see the terms of it.

How can you say Im wrong when you obviously did not understand what I wrote! Have a good day sir ????

Do you remember the exchange rate back then? Thai baht was higher back then right?

HD is a lifestyle or an image of who you want to be! HD is not practical to have or buy unless you are close to a dealership with proper service and parts within hours or a few days away. Therefor as an European and now living in Thailand, there is better options and also more economic options. I believe many still have the Image of Easy Rider or some other biker movies in their head when choosing HD. The always being a young free spirit, and a bit outlaw on the edge. Quite easy to tell when you see uniformed expat riders here in Thailand, living their "dream" or the image of it. At least they trying! Some come with a unhealthy group mentality, others just look mean and bad, but actually great people, just have fun and share interest riding HD, a dream they carried for their whole life. Others see the more negative aspect of what HD have represented and still do!

For safety, downhill cycling banned in Doi Inthanon National Park
Hummin replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
Im not sure for Doi Inthanon, but many places around the world offer downhills experiences where you being transported up, and use proper rented gear and bikes. Could be something like this they want to prevent in the future. -
