  1. If the insurance companies will do this to their fellow Thais, imagine what they'll do to foreigners with mandated insurance.
  2. Freedom is a right, not a reward. If it's a reward, then it's not freedom.
  3. You might want to tell that to immigration. https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/90days-report/
  4. Actually, they stand up to being cheated and make their demands known. Remember this from two years ago? I still get a kick out of it.
  5. To answer my own question: https://www.amchamthailand.com/2021/11/19/amcham-meeting-with-prime-minister-h-e-general-prayut-chan-o-cha/ So, care to explain yourself, Greg Wong?
  6. Clueless. Drugs are imported and repackaged in Thailand. An acquaintance of mine does this. The company he owns is worth over $2 billion. Drugs imported are then taxed and repackaged. That is how things work.
  7. Just remember that this is a military government. And what do you need when you want to enter or leave a military base? A pass. So, yes, the Thailand Pass is "fit for purpose," its purpose being turning the country into one giant military base.
  8. For all those celebrating this news, note that as foreigners in Thailand, if and when you get this drug, it will be imported, taxed, and charged to you at a price higher than what it would sell for in the West. All to make Pfizer's stock price go higher.
  9. Apparently has started looking to this guy for inspiration.
  10. At least it makes for a bit of difference. AN usually tries to work the UK into topics and headlines about Thailand news. The only difference is it usually headlines the UK as being #3 or #4 in whatever particular achievement. Fitting.
  11. I do believe you. I have Meniere's. You can go to vestibular.org which is for people with inner ear and other problems and find several threads about damage done through the vaccines, especially Pfizer and Moderna. One thread alone is around 700 pages long. I have had three Covid shots since June. The last one was Astra Zeneca. And it took me a month to get over the dizziness and nausea, for the most part. That was on 30 September for the AZ. Frankly, I'm still a little off on days. My physician says it is due to the vaccine. Damned if you do. Damned if you don't.
  12. The Mor Prom app that carries all your vaccination info, including your "Digital Health Pass."
  13. Not necessarily a requirement for an extension. But maybe a requirement in order to get into the immigration offices. No green check on the app means you can't enter immigration buildings.
  14. Two or three of those guys are still around Bangkok. Could only hope that today's pilots have 10 percent of the skill those guys had when flying.
  15. Of the ones who asked that I proof or read through their chapters and articles, I'd say they are cutting and pasting from Wiki. Not exaggerating. This is the absolute truth. I started trying to put some nonsense phrases I was seeing and googled them. Single sentences that come from two or three different Wiki entries.
  16. What's discouraging about this news is that Western embassies apparently apply no pressure whatsoever. Sure, I don't know the inner workings or secret relationships between the Thai government and, say, the US government. But I can see when China gets results for its citizens and when the US gets/does nothing. Thailand spat in the face of the US when it turned down Tammy Duckworth's 1 million Pfizer doses. US citizens had to crawl around and beg for Covid shots, while nationals only venues were set up for people from China and France. One person even reported that the initial 1.5 million Pfizer doses were parceled out to organization such as the Singapore Chamber of Commerce, which then did a separate vaccination for its citizens. China takes care of its citizens and its businesses. That is why the signs in Thailand are increasingly in Chinese. Looks to me like the West, and especially the US, can only beg and grovel, when it should be pounding on the table.
  17. Actually, you're right. The building and its design were nothing special. You could see hundreds if not thousands of these type cinemas puked out on parking lots in the US back in the late 60s and early 70s. Most were tore down years ago. The exterior design by the way was not Art Deco; it was late modernist box concrete and glass. The interior design tried to mimic Art Deco but came off looking like bad Christmas decorations. The movie palaces worth preserving were those in the US built in the 20s and 30s. Compare them with Scala and the truth really hurts.
  18. Very little top tier publishing by faculty, here. Most of what they do is published in Thai or regional journals that never get cites. No publishing, no cites = lower ranking.
