Bangkok Bank ATM use/tutorial ?
khlongtoey replied to khlongtoey's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
if what I wrote above is true. Then, what is the business about a "sealed envelope" since Ian works for BBL? maybe, the sealed envelope thing is IF one creates a PIN to change the password *whilst inside an actual branch office? -
Bangkok Bank ATM use/tutorial ?
khlongtoey replied to khlongtoey's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
july 6 2024 phoned BBL CS which is open 24/7 , the woman, explained , if one is locked out of account and travelling, the process is to phone CS, and a new PIN will be created by phone, *then they will also send you a reminder by SMS to your registered phone, a reminder of what your "userID" is. ; presumably this will allow one to regain access, by using the PIN to create a new pw. if in country, one goes to the ATM to make the PIN or a branch, so, yes, the PIN is used to create the new ibanking password. (not something I've experienced here nor in the US, that I can recall). I asked about being able to wire money back to the US, if not in Thailand, apparently *this can only be done at a branch locally. I may remove one of my 2 accounts from ibanking (1 has no ATM access directly) , and use it for the required Non-O deposit ; for security, vs convenience of shifting back and forth, despite it now seeming like I will need a Thai ITN /TIN to ever make a new 3rd account, (FCD or otherwise) ? I wonder for Estate purposes, if an executor would be able to gain access to Thai deposits to transfer back to the US, oh well. -
so say one has $500k sitting in a US stock market fund at the end of 2023. In 2024 the fund earns 5% so at the end of 2024 the account is then $525k, if in 2025 one sells and remits $50k from the fund into .th. is all $50k taxable (yes, if one stays >180 days, calendar year) ? or is it only the capital gains after the end of 12/2023 that are taxable? what if I remits $25k and indicate it is on the original capital and NOT the gains ? if one transfer the $25k capital gains to a checking account and then uses wise to transfer it to BBL "savings account" ; is one going to have to show proof that there were realized capital gains traced to that particular remittance/transfer to the US checking account? can one then safely remit whatever ST or LT capital gains were realized from the previous US tax year?

Bangkok Bank ATM use/tutorial ?

thanks, soo ; one can not change a BBL website pw unless they go to an ATM or ? 2) in the case you explain there, one is locked out of the website, they then go to ATM and the ATM issues a PIN to write down and use to recover access to website? (seems to be what you wrote) or does it Just reset the system; *then one goes to the website, and create any new PIN ? then what is the "new" PIN used for, if anything ; (as afaik only PIN I currently have is for the ATM) and/or maybe this is not for password access recovery, but more about being allowed to change passwords , without* having to be in Thailand and hence something I *should set up now , before I leave thailand for 6 months?? I then imagine it is a security feature to NOT have a PIN , and considered safer to be forced to go to an ATM to reset website access passwords? assuming that there is some other method besides going forward then always have a PIN , once it is done once ? 🙂 -
CW , link seems to be for chiang mai thx for the reply I don't see any official lists from the posted AN URL there , just someone named Tyler's own personal list so far, my apartment, is not wanting to provide neither a chanote-deed, nor the owners ID copy, and am told over many years no one has ever asked for it. (this will be for my 1st extension of stay, so am trying not too fail) possibly all the retirees here use an agent, no idea.
-
just curious, is there an actual official list of documents requested, both for initial 1 year extension stay for retirement, and for subsequent extensions? or anything official anywhere ? or is it just by word of mouth/ here on AN ? I see this for Non-O https://www.immigration.go.th/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/9.FOR-RETIREMENT-PURPOSES-50-YEARS-OLD-NON-O.pdf but so far nothing for Extensions, maybe its quite similar ?

Bangkok Bank ATM use/tutorial ?
khlongtoey replied to khlongtoey's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
hmm, not sure what this refers to. (are you saying one does something at the ATM and then a password to login to App and/or Website, arrives with old fashioned Thai Post? however, its brings up another question, say I enter the wrong pw 3 times and my account gets "locked" and I am not in Thailand, *can it be changed/restored without being IN Thailand? or must one visit a branch or ATM? I'm still unclear what the screen on the ATM means about PINs and pw, yesterday, I tried to tell the bank girl, that PINs are 4-6 digits, passwords are passwords, and I've no idea what the screen is referring to re: PINs, I assume it has nothing to do with ATM PINs. -

yeah this isn't helpful. -
so, if one transfers 800k THB into Thailand, then allows it to sit for their Non-O / Extensions. will one typically need or want to file a Thai Tax return? or if one has a Fixed Deposit account with the 800k in it, does anyone actually file Thai Tax returns for recovering the withholding BBL does? Does one ever claim the Thai income , on their US 1040 tax forms? I know in the US even if one receives no 1099-INT, cause it's < $10, one is still supposed to add up and report the <$10 Interest... (lets say they *are or may spend > 180 days in country going forward) btw, I guess this begs the question how does a Farang get a TIN ? maybe this is where one hires "an agent" to sort both out

Hello, I'm wondering if there might any English youtube or otherwise , that slowly goes through and explains all the various screens on an BBL ATM screen. I went down to Asoke branch , they really couldn't even get by the 1st one where it talks about a PIN change. (is it the case, that one goes to an ATM and at the ATM creates a new PIN, then next time they try to logon to the website they must create a new pw, eg an ATM is required to be given the ability to change passwords? "You will be given a PIN (personal identification number) which must be changed when you first log on and then you can change your password whenever you like. No one, including our staff will be able to access it." https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Digital-Banking/Bualuang-iBanking/FAQ My plan is to go and take photos of each screen and try to understand what and what I am not aware of. A) on the web portal/page there is also many options that I am not clear about eg " add own account" "add own credit card" "add 3rd party account/ intl account/ BBL car" etc. Ideally I would like to go to a particular branch and have someone goes through everything in English clearly, possibly the Silom Branch might be worth visiting? 2) She also mentioned for my security getting a photo taken in the branch for a facial scan which would apparently prohibit "transfers > 50,000 THB" ; I recall reading something about this, on AN last year, is this something folks are doing? At the moment, I dont use the phone app, as I don't need it, and feel phone banking is not secure enough. 3) I have 2 accounts, one has no ATM , but seems trivial to just connect to the one the Does have ATM, then move money from the one that doesn't??! On the website I *do see something in My Settings that says "remove own accounts from ibanking" might that be it? so, how would I possibly separate the 2 accounts ? I know this is a question/s for "customer service", but thought I'd ask her 1st, and be prepared, for the Thai-glish and/or confusion of things complicated. will stop there

nope that is some ad for so called private equity , can find a million posts like this . often I hear things like this, "vanguard" is doing this or doing that, which is meaningless ; as all they do is create funds, they aren't the owners doing things -

what does this even mean "The risk of a credit bubble weighs heavily, Blackrock exited US markets completely as a result" what is going to happen, no one knows what factors will influence what happens? is pretty pointless questions , see above how to invest my money? your money? -- then you would need to sketch out your situation and plans ; but then you didn't ask that. I'm waiting for the crypto offer to pop up... -

khlongtoey replied to how241's topic in Health and Medicine
out of curiousity, what would it take or when have you gone to see doctors in the past? recurring fevers is not normal age-ing and its a big mistake to be your own doctor. especially high grade fevers, > 101 F ; the coldness is typically when fevers break ofc -
