  1. america deserves donald, as Gore Vidal said, there is really just 1 party with 2 right wings ..
  2. ya mishandled chicken, can lead to serious salmonella illness, food poisoning. it looks a bit like an Algebra problem , (C+ZC) - ZM [or CM] = ZCM /ZC , hope you can solve and report
  3. for J section TR extension, my number came up on the digital board , the IO said it will only appear exactly at the appt time, never before. I got a cue ticket anyway, didn't know they now have the little counter by the booths, but my appt came up before the cue ticket. Previous years that 1st counter would check the docs, before giving the cue ticket, seems they now give the cue tickets, no matter the state of your docs prepped. Also, no one tells you its required to have the docs checked, mine were of an old form , had to fill out 3 new ones while at the IO desk
  4. so, I'm planning on getting non-imm O in the US pre-travel, so then 45 days in , go to CW and apply for the Extension, ok. but, then are you saying that sometimes, if may take 30 days till the actually extension is issued? and can I get a re-entry at the Same visit (applying 45 days in for the extension), and have That re-entry work for the time during the Extension? (e.g after the non-imm O expires , and the new Extension is in force (stamped ?) a) I am aware many expats get them at the same time, the re-entry , while applying for the extension annually, but just asking, as it seems confusing, if there is also a possibility for re-entry under the non-imm O And When would I do the 1st in-person 90 day , assuming the above , assuming it Can't also be done during the visit for the extension ? apologize if this is repetitive or a repeat, I'll get it more organized when back in the US soon
  5. at CW, this week, they want a copy of e-visa also, if one has one, and have them do the document check at the folding table, hardcopy of appointment they didn't look at. appt will come up exactly on time, no earlier.
  6. they thought , apparently, that the visa days should be greater than the full trip days, was my understanding. sure questioned, wasn't disallowed to board, but then like IO @ CW , sometimes, it might not matter what I think the rules are. Sometimes the rules change. they or may not take my assurances, that they are wrong, and there isn't always time to get it right at the airport.
  7. so the 1 year is tacked onto the end of the 90 days of the Non-Imm O ? like other extensions are ? if so, then maybe a minimum stay might be more like 100 days
  8. 4 months might be OK for the next trip ; hmm so per upnotover my 1st 90 day will be from the day acquire Extension, so the 1st 45 days would not count towards a 90 day report? Guess that then means 90+45 days minimum, to acquire a COR (though maybe there is a delay of possible few weeks to get the COR emailed to myself?) II- hence the "slip" at extension is not a 90 day and not useful for anything like a Cert of Residency? (I wanted to also use it to renew a Thai DL ) or I just let the DL go that expires 12/2024 till 2026 or so ... in which case maybe closer to 100 days to be able to remove doubt on the RE use ? And not have to bother with 90 days yet III-- DrJack thought I would need some monthly activity in my BBL "savings" account, in order to use it for the 2nd Extension, is why I was thinking of opening a Fixed account (not sure if this then means I may need/want to pay Thai taxes/file.??) maybe I could just use iBanking to make small transfers between my 2 BBL accounts montly, keeping the main fund > 800k ? IV- I assume if I go 40 days early to CW, I can get a re-entry at the same time, and use it during the 1 year after the original Non-IMM O expires ? Or maybe I should wait and go back to CW to get the re-entry after the dates of the Extension began.
  9. in my case, I've a Thai bank account, I prefer not to travel visa exempt, so lets say in 2025, I were to make the 800k THB deposits. I then apply for the Non-Imm O and enter Thailand with 90 day stamp, Must I then wait till the last 15 days of the 90 to go to Chang Wattana and apply for the Extension of Stay ? I assume my 1st 90 day report possibly could be done in person at the same time , if it were closer to the end of the 90 days, however, likely I would like to do my 1st Extension early. And get a re-entry. Maybe then get a certificate of residency to move the 800k to a new fixed account @ BBL , where it would remain while out of country.(and hence not require monthly activity? ) Not planning on remaining in Thailand, >4-5 months/year but planning on returning yearly to do Extensions So, all this might require 4 months total in Thailand ?
  10. how old was the TM30 you tried to use? if my landlord hands me a TM30 this week, am I to assume it is "the new system" , the one she gave me doesn't necessarily look like the one that Tod Daniels posted above. I'm just going for a TR extension this week.
  11. isn't it true though, that you can't file too late ? and/or if you do file late, you will still be fined, so there is No point in filing, if you are filing late? OP, I believe you said you were using your recent entry towards the end of your O-A validation, to obtain the new 1 year stamped into Thailand, so your original O-A is expiring and you *will never a re-entry permits ( for exit-entering Thailand after the original O-A has expired) ? btw, Jack, can one do an extension of stay , after an O-A has expired but one is *Still stamped into Thailand for 1 year ?
  12. sorry to ask this, if it it is in many posts and repeat. can one enter on Tourist Visas or other visas, and convert to extension of stays ? and/or why do folks enter visa exempt, then do Non-Imm O's, the do the extensions vs just entering on regular tourist visas?
  13. might be nice to know, though I guess, its too late to file now, so you don't need to file any more ? Or maybe next 90 day you'll be at a place that can give out the TM30 proof ? Will you be filing an extension of stay or just getting another O-A after, the re-entry allowed year expires? Will they give you a re-entry permit if you didn't file the 90 day?
  14. hmm, so the "state pension" isn't required if one shows the adequate savings deposit in a US bank? 2- last couple long stays I'm just doing TR60 with 30 day extensions. Does one get stamped in for 90 days on the Non-O ? is it more difficult to obtain than a TR60 say from the Los Angelas Consulate (my designated consulate). 3- if it is 90 days, maximum, from outside Thailand, how long is it from inside Thailand, if one is doing this in preparation for a 1 year extension of stay? how long is the permission to stay if one converts to a Non-Imm O at Chang Wattana?
  15. actually Jack, in 2023 from a US port, boarding ANA Airlines, I had a 80 day RT ticket, and a TR60 visa, they questioned whether I should be allowed to board. Maybe that was unusual , just my experience
  16. hmm, I thought the Non Imm O, wasn't something that can be done outside the country, as I hear many stories of arriving visa-exempt and converting to Non-imm O ?
  17. so , does one have to provide proof that the 800k THB came "from outside the country" each and every year, they go to do the Extension of Stay? II - can the 800k just season year round, in a separate account , from one's regular account? Or must there be activity , monthly activity in the account where only the 800k stays untouched year round? III- if arriving on a 60 or 30day TR, does the 800k not have to season before going for the Non O ? or maybe its only for the Extension the 800k?
  18. some airlines, may not allow you to board without a visa covering your stay. Or at least they may say that. Unless things have changed, though, I know that may be uncommon. Might try to be prepared.
  19. sorry I mean TM47 90 day
  20. if my 5 year DL expires in December, but I then obtain a TM7 on a retirement visa , say in April 2025, can I then still renew the DL ? or what is the deadline after expiry to still renew a DL?
  21. when people say "retirement visa", is that meaning EOS, "extension of stay" ? I'm in my late 50s, and considering another O-A if the insurance premiums are available , especially at a lower rate. During the process of obtaining an O-A , what is the timing and place to purchase the required insurance? Is it possible to purchase /advisable health insurance that would cover all trips to Thailand and maintain that insurance. As at an older age, it might not be available at all. Is there a purchase that would cover both ?
  22. Can anyone decypher WTH this probably means? " This reduction will be effective for long-stay applicants from September to December, according to Mr Chai. " Does that mean, the new rule for this starts somewhere between Sept through Dec? or : I guess it MUST mean that?
  23. US EMB so I guess out of luck,
  24. I need one to extend a 5 year drivers license at Bang Jak land office, On nut. However, I currently am on a TR60 visa, so not 90 reporting receipt, I can get a TM30 from my apartment owner. Is there any chance of getting a COR at CW , based on the above ? What if I return with a O-A visa and have no 90 day report? Later this year?
  25. hmm unvaccinated, haven't tested. ; thaivisa repliers what a sad lot .
