As it's harder now to get multiple entries or tourist visas back to back the western backpacking cleaners are missing.
They clean beaches in Vietnam and Bali now... ????-

I'm 50/50 on this.
I have insurance for here ( accident ) but even if we travel to other countries we always buy some kind of insurance.
I really don't understand those that come here from UK USA for example, on holiday who don't buy any insurance in any way.
Or buy it and don't read it re' falling off a rented bike etc when they don't even have a bike licence at home. Been a few stories on that on TV.
Met a backpacking girlie on a rental scooter last week in a checkpoint in Chiang Mai.
She was amused about the low fine of 1000b for a missing motorbike license.
She:"Now I can ride around for 3 days without any problems"
I: Where did you get your informations from?
She: "Backpacker forum"
I: No insurance will cover you.
She: "I don't care, I know how to ride."
That's how it works now...
Wonder if she cares about ANY insurance. (No, she wasn't Chinese) -
Use the long queues at the immigration checkpoints for a further question.
Do you have a travel insurance ?
YES - Note the home country
NO - Note the home country
Check your lists and start thinking ...-

So they recognised it's a bad idea that's good but their reasoning for shelving it isn't so good.
But will they reintroduce it once tourism picks up again?
Never

"Cambodia and other nearby countries allow establishments to make their own decisions as to opening hours. Why is Thailand such a basket case?"
Let money for profit establishments make their own decisions on public safety and well-being. Get real!! So a money for profit establishment opens a bar at the end of your street and decides to stay open late to serve all the loud drunks. Its okay because he is making a profit? If this was to happen you would be running to Thai Visa with your tail behind your back complaining.
How old is the average TV poster and when does he jump in his pyjama ? ???? 8pm? ????

Nice girlfriend too, he didn't know what ringing the bell meant, and she didn't tell him.
Why was he overcharged 40T?
Just don't touch things if you don't know what they are for. ???? (and if you are the only one getting soft drinks for your money) -

I guess 7-11 employees are cheaper than bank tellers. If I were a bank employee I would be very wary of job security. In the next 10 years I would imagine many bank employees will be made redundant. It used to be one of those "jobs for life". Also I would imagine 7-11 don't provide pensions.
Fired bank employees can apply for jobs at 7/11 then. They are "High qualified" for doing bank transactions, but 7/11 customers will have to get a queue number for not to stress these spoilt new employees...

Makes the production of the packages cheaper > more profit for the producers > easy to produce fakes.

Fines for tourists seem to be much to low.
2 days ago in a Chiang Mai checkpoint a backpacker girlie was fined 1000THB for a missing international licence.
She was laughing about the low fine and said that this is the cheapest and easiest way to get permission to drive for 3 days.
She got the tipp about this on a backpacker forum... -

From Wiki
" French and English are official languages, a heritage of Cameroon's colonial past as a colony of both France and the United Kingdom from 1916 to 1960. ... The nation strives toward bilingualism, but in reality very few Cameroonians speak both French and English, and many speak neither. "
And why is this important for this story?
