No Thanks, paid into NI for 36 years and   never had anything, now Ive left they wont help. If I cant pay I accept i will die.

Money is put aside for emergencies and I dont want the get out clauses many insurance companies  will trump up. Govt never takes care of you anyway so please govt dont tell me what to do, I accept the risk.

Easier to get people to sign a disclaimer on arrival saying  you accept you may die if you have no insurance.

European governments only care about you as long as you pay taxes so they have enough money to waste and fill their own big wallets.

    1) I always buy travel insurance when traveling, but I disagree that it should be mandatory. (2) So because the government does not enforce safety measures through fines, jails, or suspension of the operation of a business, I will be made to have travel insurance because the government doesn't provide a service that every government should provide - that being enforcement of safety rules and regulations. Also, if this ever comes to fruition, I bet the Chinese won't have to buy the insurance, they already get treated like royalty. The Chinese government is even beginning to print Thailand's money.

Creation and enforcement of safety rules and regulations on roads, boats, jet ski's, etc I think would be the best way to reduce any burden on Thai hospitals and any tourist compensation fund.

I guess, as usual with the creation of any emerging country, governmental departments don't work together to find a solution to the problem. I hope things can improve and the Thai people will figure this out, without giving any one race of people, like the Chinese, preference over others.

For every tour operator it is mandatory to conclude a TRAVEL BUSINESS INSURANCE.
So if the government/TAT doesn't check their operators if they follow the law...

"...The report looked at data from 2017, ranking countries on where the most insurance claims were made and Thailand came out on top. The report found that Thailand accounted for 23 percent of travel insurance claims made in 2017 – more than any other country..."

Forgive me and apologies to all my British friends, but I interpret this to mean that the dodgiest Brits visit Thailand, not that Thailand is the riskiest...

Applying common sense, and applying proper punishments for offenders would be a great start.

I don't really see the need to be looking to other country's methods, as the problems are mainly caused by the person behind the steering wheel, the majority of which here, have had no proper training in driving skills.

...and no sense for responsibility ?

Maybe around 10,000 per month like so many working in retail and service jobs. And they are still alive, have food everyday and lead a passable life. So please TV stop spreading myths and foreigners should stop moaning that you can't survive with or less than 25k per month. Of course if you drink everyday, only eat out and with western food, probably frequent some bars it can be difficult....
But other than that with a moderate lifestyle 25k is doable in BKK, more even in smaller cities or upcountry.

Thanks for your post, can only agree with you.
But those who need western food, cheese, regular beer, bar entertainment, aircon a.s.o. to be happy might have a problem to get around with 25K or less.
Looking forward to the "nice replies" of the pros ?
