To make a sort of update on the issue it seems that this visa is subject to prior formalités with the thai BOI and if approved, one can only then file for the LTR. Second, it seems that this visa says 10 years but that seems actually a 5 year visa that is granted and once expired, it can be extended for 5 more years, hence the 10 year mention. So technically speaking the LTR seems actually an extendable 5 yr visa ? Please correct me as I am surely missing out a lot here.

Good move as with all the expats who do not have proper insurance that will fly them back in a special plane in cas of illness/accident. Health insurance may be fine, but above all insurance to be repatriated is more important.

No place can be the cheapest or most costly place by the standards of others. It's what you make it that counts and what you can afford. If you are reckless and naive with the hookers, booze or shopping you can end up broke anywhere not matter how much you arrived in your pockets. If you are responsable and firmly know how to say "No" and either walk away or negociate the rates. then you can survive anywhere without nedding to have your deep pockets full.

Makes no sense as most European nations and cruise stops have banned the cruise ships or put drastic quotas as the inconveniences generated with cruise ships, were far higher the the benefits generated.

Western nations are fare more easy going to hand out their Schengen, Swiss, UK etc... passports to Thais, then the other way around.

Why do such please fund me requests only surge with the Brits ? The other nations have an equivalent quota of recless teens. Thai authorities and the UK Govt. need to take the matter in hands urgently and make sure any Brit leaving the pubs of Manchester or Liverpool. has appropriate insurance at least to be shipped back home in case of any issue. Such situations are giving a bad image against all westerners and are making full time visa issues more a hassle for people with appropriate insurance and repatriation insurance.

No need to get the western ego's aroused. Mainly a matter of politeness and etiquette. A thai lady in the service industry, when faced with a couple, will only engage with the female in the couple. Instead of getting all those ego's aroused, I would tend to observe the girls reaction when faced with an all thai couple.

Very often I am having issues on the width with the Adidas sneakers. Lenght turns out ok though needs longer then usual size. But the width seems a bit narrow lately on Adidas. Hope they correct the flaw....
