  1. Hi all

Although I have been in LoS for 10 years now, this will actually be my 1st border run on a new Non Imm 'O' multiple visa next week.

I have read many threads that the situation in Victoria Point is that....

    * the Burmese entry visa is still US$5(not risen to $10?)

    * they only accept crisp, new US notes/bills

    * if they think that you have bought the $5 from a bank (and not from a tout or some scam merchant), they will not accept it.

Can anyone verify the above as in recent events?

    (Baboon, are you reading this?)

    Rgds

    Big A

  2. another option is to get an education visa which would give you up to 15 months for a multi entry Non Imm Ed type visa....

Actually, a single Non Imm 'ED' can be extended for 12 months for B1,900. So you can stay in LoS for 1 year for........

*the price of a return train ticket to Penang (B2,000 or so 2nd class sleeper)

    *Penang Hotel 2 nights (B1,000)

*a single entry Non Imm 'ED' (not sure how much)

    * B1,900 for the year's extension

    * and, of course, your language course price (the biggest factor!!)

It actually may be cheaper to return to the UK (with a cheapie gulf airline) and let Hull do their business!!

    Just a thought.

  3. I wonder if the airport authorities know when wintermute is travelling, and tease him deliberately.

Look out. Here he comes. Quick, close down those immigration desks, waken up the taxi touts ...oh! and get that crooked customs guy here on the double, and for God's sake get that luggage carousel to break down!! :o

  4. I will fly to BURMA just to check out this Cd's problem and investigate the stall owner!! :o

and to punch someone's nose for sure!! :D

While you're at it, why not contact the Burmese Office of Fair Trading in Rangoon and ask to speak to 'a general'? Their phone number is ......

  5. if your buying cds in burma mai sai dont buy them from stall on the main drag on the left for 8 for 100bht as they dont work

I wouldn't buy 8 CDs for B100 ANYWHERE!! You were well stung. :o

  6. ..........the Crime Suppression Division will get tough—by handing out pink ‘‘Hello Kitty’’ armbands to undisciplined police investigators.

Good God. The Police force can't get any worse. Have they ever heard of suspension without pay, dismissal or prosecution for errant officers? :o

  7. no a-hole, i realize that you have only been in thailand for a short while and think that the only way to get to penang is by air. -i will do it the old asian hand way, take the train. its actually really fun - but then again.... im have time, im not running back scared that i will find my thai wife/girlfriend shagging the likes of me.

10 years, mate. Came here well before the crash and loved the chaos!!

PS Have never flown to Penang in my life.

  8. i checked some past threads but many were dated. just looking for latest info -

Been awhile since i diy'd this...think i have to do a runner due to weekend.

does anyone know when PARVEZ stops taking apps for next day return?

penang stops accepting applications at 1200 correct?

how much is the cost for a single tourist (which must be paid in myr correct?)?

how much is a cab from jalan chulia, a current thread stated rm10 but also r/t myr from airport which seems much better value! im thinking that ride out should be about rm7??

Ah-ha, so you DO use airports on visa runs.

Quote: 'sum nam nah for flying out of the country for 'holiday/visa run"

    Big A-hole!

  9. I beg to differ, last year my Thai wife was with me in UK, we flew to Dublin and the immigration man asked her where her visa was, and I stepped in and also said I did not think she needed one, but she DID. Luckily we had return plane tickets to London for the Sunday night of that weekend so he gave her a stamp that said allowed in but don't even think about trying it again!

Just like the friendly boys (and girls) in brown at Suwannabhumi, innit?!! :o

  10. Were the emergency/fire doors locked this time?!! (remember the toy factory in Pattaya a few years back?) D1ckheadsand scumbags the whole ###### lot of them.

I hope there were no fatalities.

Once again, the rich and influential send the uneducated poor to their graves for a few baht's savings.

TIME TO GET A UNION AND STAND UP FOR YOURSELVES.

  11. When you enter the embassy, the guard at the security hut will give you a visa app form. Immediately join the back of the queue outside and fill in your form (crouching down if necessary) while waiting.

When the doors open, another guard will give you a queue ticket number. Wait for your number. It's all pretty civilised!!
