Edit: Having said that - you have chosen what is traditionally the busiest day for International travel (Boxing Day).

And they have the nerve to call themselves a budget airline?

Sorry. I was going to say try the consulate in Sathorn (but you've already done that).
-
I bought a bottle of cheap wine and slept in the park opposite the towers. Not bad, but room service was slow!

R U joking? Jetstar are more expensive than some national carriers

The whole thing is absolutely pathetic. It's not funny anymore.

ค ง ช ซ ฌ ญ ณ ท ธ น พ ฟ ภ ม ย ลร วฬฮ are the low class letters
ก จ ฎ ฏ ด ต บ ป อ are the middle class letters
ข ฉ ถ ฐ ผ ศ ษ ส ห are the high class letters
Am I correct in assuming that I should learn
* the above first
* then learn the tone markers (may ake, may tho etc)
* and finally learn the short vowels, long vowels, stopped final sounds and unstopped final sounds to
detemine the tone?

I can read Thai quite well, but haven't a clue about the tones!!

Sorry
I actually meant the SAMPA alphabet.

So, I'd like to know if I can get a dictionary SAMPA (Thai) to standard English.

Hi
I am learning Thai at Bangkok Grace Polytechnic and am making good progress. However, in the lower levels, they teach new vocabulary in Phonetics (instead of Thai script or standard Roman script)
All vowels are in the phonetic script (like the schwa [upside-down e] and 'back-to-front' C) and the only consonant in phonetics is ('ŋ' for ng). Everything else is in standard Roman script.
Does anyone know where I can buy a Phonetic script (Thai words) - standard English (Roman) script dictionary?
Thanx in advance

Dropped in on a newly opened sports bar on Sukhumvit Soi 23 a couple of weeks ago....four 'waitresses' working there at the time.....approx. one o'clock in the afternoon....no eye contact or conversation with me when I ordered a beer and when I checked the bill. Nothing. What were they doing there? And 95 baht for a Singha beer!
All in all a very unfriendly place - at least for me -
Moved onto Texas Lone Star bar - Washington Square - prety much the same - couldn't be bothered to even say anything to me - despite how friendly and accomodating I might have been at the time.
Rip off Sukhumvit Road!
It's a rip off because they don't talk to you? A Sukhumvit bar where no-one pesters you sounds good to me!!

Yeah. You'll get it and all!!

If it's that valuable and big, book a 1st class cabin all to yourself and you can sleep well. Cheaper than flying and 100% safe.

"I just wondered if there was anywhere in Thailand where oxcarts are in still in regular use"
Hang around the airport long enough and I'm sure a tout will offer you a ride in one!!

Taken directly from RTC Hull's website.....
'APPLICANT CANNOT BE IN THAILAND AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION'
I'd try Penang, KL or Singapore (or even visa friendly Perth or Brisbane) first before posting it to Hull

Any time my aged mother came here to visit me, she insisted on wheelchair service from Belfast right through to BKK (using B. Midland & B. Airways). She has never had any problems, and the guy pushing her out to the arrivals area seemed cheery enough. My mum insisted on giving him a tip for his troubles.
So, I suppose, arrange a chair service from your airline, smile a lot, chit-chat to the pusher (wheelchair, that is!!) and arrange to meet your Jomtien driver at either international arrival gate B or C as that is where you'll exit.
