  1. Seems like he can’t handle his drink. Perhaps go back to milk in future.
  2. Well, ok. Got your point. Porn had existed since before Roman times, e.g. Pompeii, which was an R&R center, had porn on the city walls. The Greeks liked young boys etc. Showering with classmates after rugby in my youth was accepted and there was no shame in seeing naked bodies. However, whereas pedophilia was more accepted in history, society has moved away from it. People associate children watching porn with nascent moral corruption. I don't agree, as you, that it has a huge effect but I haven't seen any research on it yet
  3. Not so much about female dominance as they still suffer from inequality in many EU countries. More to do with The Children(TM) who cannot control their curiosity.
  4. Excellent, that is exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks.
  5. Thanks for that. I am interested mainly in what is the ultimate decision-making body for insurrection by a president rather than immunity (though that is related). I assumed there would be a SCOTUS decision eventually. Yes, the Nixon pardon implied he wasn't immune.
  6. Maybe set up a joint company to invest in drilling and share the results 50-50?
  7. So you're saying that SCOTUS could find him innocent but the Colorado decision would stand?
  8. The dissenting judge may have had a point. Trump has yet to be tried and found guilty of insurrection (everyone says he did it in the court of public opinion), the due process he mentioned. Wouldn't it be better to have a federal court trial and found guilty than these state trials? If for instance the supreme court of the US finds that he didn't create an insurrection, where would Colorado be then? Just wondering.
  9. This change seems to be aimed at losing alcohol sales as no one sees it as an advantage to buy in town. Lowering prices domestically would be one way of encouraging shopping but I don't think anyone's considered it as the government would lose tax revenue.
  10. I feel sorry for the mother. She is being punished by her son's actions too.
  11. I don't think the court is that sympathetic to the yellow shirts. They caused a huge economic loss to the country. I do think the wheels of justice grind slowly here so I would expect these bozos to get some prison time eventually. Just my opinion.
  12. Nice if Thailand adds more variety of manufacturing here, especially modern tech. However, the abysmal state of public education here won't get the population ready for a generation or two. I am sure most politicians think they can upgrade students in a few months.
  13. I guess the Thai people already believe money can buy happiness.
  14. I registered my passport in the past to use the automatic gates in and out. I have PR. And a new passport. Do we still have to register to go in and out of the country or not?
  15. How many wars did not have civilian deaths? No one likes to see this. Remember Arthur 'Bomber' Harris? No one likes what he did. Was he wrong Firebombing civilians? Hiroshima and Nagasaki killed thousands of civilians. Was that wrong? I wish Israel would cut the heads off Hamas leadership instead of bomb civilians. Their top three leaders supposedly live in luxury in Qatar with $11billion in wealth. What about them?
  16. I wonder what evidence they have, besides their testimony? I think the couple can now expect a tougher sentence for embarrassing the police.
  17. There is always channel switching, or turning off the TV and listening to Elgar for bringing back that manly feeling
  18. The best thing about getting old is realizing that nothing else matters. Much better.
  19. When I was given the option to retire, I asked to be allowed to continue as the office allows me to meet people (and the work is fun). A social life is the key to longevity, so bowls would be fine (if they had it in Bangkok) as it allows you to meet and interact. Holding a party at my place tomorrow with young colleagues as it is part of the social life we oldies need. Regarding music, I once had a chat with the music critic of the Bangkok Post (he only seemed to discuss endless classical music "cover" versions) and asked why he thought people switched their musical taste to Beethoven immediately upon reaching 60, after growing up with Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones, AC/DC etc. Just a smile, then he walked away.
  20. Yes, that is the sensible thing to do. A pity the Thai partner and nephews make it so difficult not to care.
  21. The SRT has been talking about double track railroads for decades. A bullet rain was promised for 2023. More railroads would lower the carbon footprint, especially if electrified. I remember talk of reintroducing electric trams years ago. I can’t understand who made them think roads were the way to go.
  22. I believe she has not fulfilled the requirement of the length of time in the party. Wasn’t this mentioned in a previous article?
  23. Once had a chat with a permanent secretary of the ministry of education. He was excited after returning from Sweden. Swedes speak excellent English and tv there shows the BBC without translation. i suggested he implement English TV entertainment channels here. He became serious. We are Thai, he said. We are proud of our language and have no need for English tv here. A few minutes later he mentioned that his son had got into a US university and would I help him practice English before leaving. Yes, the elite don’t want the kids of ordinary people to achieve high standards in order to ensure their own kids are a rung above. There is no way to change this. Rich parents want their children to inherit Thailand.
