  1. Trying to encourage Chinese tourists to come here by arresting a Chinese influencer is probably going to backfire. There's a reason they're called influencers. https://edition.cnn.com/2023/12/13/travel/chinese-influencer-tourist-thailand-tiktok-video-intl-hnk/index.html
  2. Just lower pork prices and the smuggling won't be worth it.
  3. That journalists are always in peril from people they investigate. I hope the poor guy recovers but it looks like he may have lost an eye.
  4. Not sure the Democrat Party ever represented democracy. This may be one of the reasons no one voted for them. They were what I would call the status quo (not the rock group).
  5. Very unusual for a private hospital to refuse a "rich foreigner" . Usually, they would dispense paracetamol at the least. Maybe there is more to the story.
  6. Wondering what will happen when Thaksin is eventually released. Could he be the center of political storms or accepted as a kingmaker?
  7. If the economy relies so heavily on tourism, shouldn’t the government diversify? Where is the AI development here? The Thai designed EVs? The high tech industries? Could it be the lack of investment into education?
  8. I may be wrong but don’t developed countries have a provision for house arrest and electronic ankle bracelets? Oh, you mean for anyone except Thaksin?
  9. I understand, but having worked in Thai companies for 30 years, I am often left with choosing the Thai candidate who did a masters in the USA or U.K. I do admit that Chula Arts graduates are a preference when only a bachelor degree and good communication skills are required. I am sure there are good graduates, but have you ever wondered why Thailand is still a developing economy? If not poor education, then what?
  10. Thailand makes promises at every COP meeting and then fails to meet their stated aims. Not that they are alone in this.
  11. Graduates of any Thai educational institution would be suspect .
  12. It's a hairy situation I guess. Raise it substantially and expect layoffs or price rises to compensate. Again, education is so bad, people are only suitable for shops and labor. If any prime minister days he will raise education levels in one term, he is lying or foolish
  13. So happy to be proven wrong and that George Floyd and the dozens of unarmed black guys killed by cops were guilty of living in the wrong area and it had nothing to do with discrimination. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_unarmed_African_Americans_killed_by_law_enforcement_officers_in_the_United_States Also, happy to be able to access facts like the rate of Hispanics killed by law enforcement officers jumped nearly 45% in the last decade. Must have been because they committed 45% more crimes. https://www.axios.com/2023/05/30/police-brutality-latino-george-floyd But I could be wrong I guess. Oh, these aren't my facts.
  14. Oh... he had a knife not an AR15.? Still, dangerous stabby stabby potential averted.
  15. It is a huge mistake to agree to a police re-enactment. Always refuse to cooperate and get a lawyer in asap.
  16. I guess white cops in the US never discriminate against blacks and Latinos but I could be wrong. If you are wearing a helmet, then having a license is the next thing to check. Lots of tourists hire bikes without a valid license.
  17. I wonder how many Thais speak Russian? Maybe the poor English scores have been outbalanced by the ability to speak other languages.
  18. The United Nations (UN) was established after the Second World War with the purpose of preventing the recurrence of the wars of the first half of the twentieth century, which brought great grief to mankind, and to safeguard international peace and security. They had one job and failed.
  19. Maybe the question should also include "how often do you test for HIV?"
  20. What happens if the British spouse is retired and the pension is below £38,700?
