Why doesnt Ebay or Amazon operate in Thailand?
  2. Must try I haven't had a decent pizza since I left Australia. My mouth is watering just at the thought of a deep pan crust with a vegemite base tipped with mushrooms, kalamata olives, capsicum, salami, cheddar cheese topped with banana mango and pineapple... Heaven!
  3. I would prefer that it was classified as a Thai only industry. At the moment thai wives or proxies are used as a front for foreigners to set up many of these drug businesses. There are enough dregs from around the world already here without another drug to attract even more dealers. I have no problem with stoners smoking dope as long as they keep it in the privacy of their own home.
  4. Quite a contrarian aren't you and like most negative people no constructive ideas only a negative unhelpful post. Why bother to post such a petty reply? I guess I will never understand people that post nothing of value just for the sake of posting. No doubt your parents have come to lament not availing themselves of contraception in earlier years.
  5. Very inventive idea. A good lateral thinker. Unlike a few others with negative comments but sadly one will always encounter the negative norms of the world Anyway thanks for all who posted a helpful comment. I will leave my baby with my son to look after. I haven't the heart to sell her.
  6. Does anyone have or no of any riders with a Yamaha V star? Doesnt matter what size. I have an 1100 in Oz and am seriously thinking of importing it. Yes fools rush in where angels fear to tread and yes I know it wont be cheap. I have been told that it might be possible to bring it in piece by piece and rebuild it here. If nothing else I will enjoy the rebuild as a hobby. Has anyone tried bringing in a motorcycle in parts or has anyone gone to the trouble of importing a whole bike. Yes I do realise It is going to be a lot of messing around but I do love my bike and can afford the most likely outrageous cost. It is 20 years old and in mint condition with low Ks, so I'm hoping that will help. I you're going to say don't do it, please dont waste your breath and save the .2 grams of carbon each response emits. If I were a sensible person who would take sensible advice I wouldn't be considering it, So feel free to walk away in disgust at my stupidity. I'm hoping there is someone else that does things against the odds a fraternal brother(or sister) in stupidity if you will. Or there is an importer that can do it for me.
  7. Yes that is correct but from what i understand from immigration, it is the hotels responsibility to fill out a TM30 but your responsibility to make sure they have done it. I know that doesn't make any sense but TIT.
  8. Im old and the TM30 has got me confused. If a hotel fills out a TM30 should i get a copy and do i keep it for 90 day reporting? I have only just got my retire visa and on going to immigration to register my address in Bangkok. (My visa was obtained in Pattaya) I was fined for not having a TM30 from the hotel in Pattaya. I was given the option of getting the TM30 from the hotel and coming back to Chaeng Wattana but it was easier just to pay the fine rather than go all the way back again and wasting another day and money. The return Taxi fare was more than the fine.
  9. I tend to use the train to phaya thai and then the BTS. At least I know what time I will arrive. I'd rather spend the price difference on a few drinks at the bar when i arrive.
  10. After exhausting most avenues regarding a visa, I think my only option now is a retirement visa. I am thinking of just going on a 45 day visa free and applying in Bangkok. I dont have a thai bank account and from some that has seemed to have proven a bit of a hassle. Is it better just to do it all through an agent and if so is there anywhere here on TV that has any reccommended agents? I have looked on line but there seems to be a great discrepency between agent fees and their reliability is unknown.
  11. Has anyone heard of Baan Thai immigration solutions in Bangkok?
  12. I dont know if this is the right place for this question but does anyone know how a Visa agent can open a bank account on your behalf and without even needing you to deposit the required800K/400K? I am asking if anyone really knows how the do it, not its just a scam etc.
  13. It does seem strange. He is 25, his daughter is 2 his wife is 2 years younger so she became pregnant at 20 and he was 22. He came here pre covid so 2019 at the latest which mean he was around 22. So the time line suggests he must've come slightly earlier say 2018 which means he was 21. If that is the case, he left school at 17, came to Thailand 4 years later, met a thai woman married her/got her pregnant by age 23. He accrued 350,000 USD before he arrived because he wouldn't get a loan in Thailand in that space of time and would need cash to buy the house in his wifes name. So in 4 or 5 years he saved at least $350K USD from age 17 which means $70K USD saved per year. In that time he has come to understand all facets of thai women and thai culture which suggests along the way he must've learnt to speak read and write Thai at the very least. In four years or in Thailand he understands why most foreign males are in Thailand even those that have been here before he was born. First time I've heard of someone who was sigmund freud warren buffet and brad pitt all in one... I believe it. I wonder perchance if he is related to Borat.
  14. I think the point missed is a government that itself is illegitimate has no right to judge a democratically elected government. As far as the courts go how many government politicians have been removed from office? Is it mere coincidence they were all opposition politicians? Then there is a certain Thai minister that was convicted of drug offences in relation to importing 3.2 kilograms of heroine in Australia, something that would attract the death sentence in his own country. He served 4 years in jail after pleading guilty and assisting police. When questioned over his conviction in Thailand he stated he spent time in state sponsored accommodation while acting as a "witness." Yet he serves as deputy minister while they pursue Yingluck. BTW where is red bulls son these days? https://www.smh.com.au/national/embattled-thai-minister-admits-to-court-sentence-in-australia-20190916-p52rxe.html
  15. That philosophy applies everywhere. Just more so in Thailand. I prefer to take the train when travelling in Thailand. Generally the middle carriage, on the assumption that sufficient energy should be absorbed by the locomotive and front carriages when they inevitably hit a truck or car whose driver decided to race the train over the crossing and lost. Why not the back carriage then you ask? One must acknowledge there is the odd time when another train driver plows into the back of a stationary train (which I could be on) while taking a comfort break through the side window, at the same time contemplating his last visit to a house of ill repute thereby failing to see the stop signal and the stationary train ahead. In this case caused by break failure yet again. Or at least the failure to apply them, which in Thai is the same thing.
  16. The only safe vehicle in Thailand is a Tank. I'd rather drive from Mariupol to Kherson with a sign saying Russians soldiers are all Gay, than on Thailand highways.
  17. That price seems to be quite typical. I have checked with 3 agents in pattaya and bangkok and they are all around 38K to 45K. Seems a rip off to me. I'm sure there must be some reasonable agents out there that charge a fair price but I have not seen one as yet.
  18. I have thought of using dependant thai child visa when I retire next year. What is the opinion of you visa gurus out there? Is it easier to obtain than the marriage or "retirement" visa in regards to paperwork, requirements etc? Paperwork was never my strong point. The deposit criteria is not a problem. Also is it worth using an agent? They seem to charge around 40K baht to do it. Some have said that they can set up a bank account and I dont even need to deposit the 400K or 800K into the account. How can that work as it suggests something dodgy to me. Are any of these agents licensed by the government or just all freelancers? The bank account issue has always confused me (Im getting old) as it seems very catch 22. You need to open an account to get the visa but you need the visa to open the account. Am I missing something here? Is it a problem with my logic or just a product of the slow deterioration of my ageing brain cells? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  19. The problem as stated before seems to be opening a bank account before you have the visa especially if you arrive on a voa.
  20. I remember stories of American serviceman in WW2 and the intense dislike of them by many Australian men. The americans had more money and fraternised heavily with Australian women when on R&R who were attracted by their big spending that Australian soldiers just could not compete with. It led to violence on many occasions. Is it any wonder that Thai men see many farang as a threat that they cannot compete with in regard to what they can offer local women, especially financially and this causes jealousy and anger. I have met many expats who have little to no interaction with Thais and are seen as unfriendly and act as if superior by the local community. Fortunately not all but In the end we are all guests here and should at least extend some effort to be a little more sensitive and interactive with the local population.
  21. OK. I didnt realise you were talking about a large commercial system. As you'd be aware A/C screws start somewhere around 75 K/W nominal.
  22. Thank you, but working in the refrigeration and airconditioning industry as firstly a tech and later as an Engineer for 50 years probably helped.
  23. Bent is also used in Australia. Similar meaning as in "A bent copper" although it was also an old term for Gay. Dont know if that is universal but it was used in Melbourne.
