    Well, travelling to Thailand and extending my visas has to do with me, and such crooks and (possible) overblown new restrictions could affect me and other travellers and expats.

    Exactly. Chinese, rich, creating 'extra value' (not last for certain government employees)... Probably, 9 out of 10 Thais will still favour such 'tourists' over "those cheap Charlie backpackers".

    What I am, personally, more interested in, when and to what extend will the next immigration crackdown happen, following these news, on "foreigners who stay too long, or come too often to Thailand"...

    True. And the headline of the article is misleading: "Even as..." - A strong baht has never helped Thailand, as it relies on cheap exports and holiday destinations.

    Some better-educated Thais know English grammar well. They can explain it (in Thai), but still cannot string a conversational phrase together.

    Exactly. Not to mention that a majority of Thais study English from K1 to grade 12, i.e. 15 years (and more). Does the British curriculum offer similar (compulsory) Thai lessons?
