  1. So, they're saying that 'Thailand is a haven for criminals'? - Good to know. So, to make sure that people in other countries don't think bad of me, I'll tell them that, yes, I live in Asia, but, no, I'd never travel to Thailand, cause it has such a bad reputation of being a hiding place for international criminals and all...
  2. Here we go again... Tourists = potential criminals who come here to 'hide'. - There's two easy solutions, with a similar outcome, i.e. 'no tourism income': 1. Seal the border. 2. Ask every tourist for a police report.
  3. Outrageous, Thais paying 'falang prices' and surcharges! ???? Thais scamming Thais, nothing new here, as Thailand is the 'hub of equal opportunity scams'...
  4. 'Disappears' for days or weeks, without giving an explanation, and not answering the phone.
  5. Do you really think authorities make the effort to deduct those from the total number of arrivals?
  6. Probably tourists who read online 'Thailand: No Covid-19 restrictions'.
  7. I lived in China before. (Mainland) Chinese, men and women alike, really spit wherever they are and a lot! The men also pee anywhere at street corners, and they will even take a dump if no-one's looking... That's why Chinese tourists (among numerous other reasons) are not popular in most countries, incl. Hong Kong...
  8. So he cannot figure out a date without looking at a passport stamp? - I always know when I arrived, and, using a calendar, it is not hard to do the count by adding 89 days.
  9. I wonder how many expats are hidden in the UK number of 193,003 , and how many trips in (and out) this year?
  10. Yes, I very much doubt that 1 out of 33 Laotians (218,000 vs. 7.27 million) travelled to Thailand this year for pleasure. I've been told that Laotians are struggling, due to low wages, their currency's devaluation, not to mention the general inflation. https://www.nationthailand.com/international/ann/40012058
  11. So, it doesn't need to be presented anymore when extending a visa? And what would one write on the application form for an extension where it asks for the TM6 number?
  12. That's right. It's always good to put a country's eggs into just one basket, like relying on exports of durian and other agricultural products to China. What could possibly go wrong? Just send all the Thai city slickers, office workers, hotel staff, tourist guides, and all people relying on tourism to the durian plantations upcountry. They will be pleased! Worked well in Cambodia in the late 1970s...
  13. Just to be told by Immigration, the next time you arrive here: "You stay too long in Thailand..."
  14. Don't know about Pattaya, but I still don't see that many tourists in Bangkok. Except, of course, they're all at 'the temple', or just partying in their hotel rooms...
  15. I recently browsed 'Corascunt', 'Mustafar', 'Alderaan', and 'Tatooine'... Still looking for a travel agent for a booking.
  16. "BANGKOK (NNT) - International tourists’ activity has picked up ..." Well, one could argue that "international tourists' activity" could include 'just browsing the internet for destinations'... ????
  17. Yes, this, and the army being inept in this matter anyway.
  18. It's not about Malaysia. Malaysia doesn't want these Thai provinces, and many separatists don't want to be part of Malaysia. It's about respect for the people's different culture, lifestyle, safety, and not being treated like s**t and 'brown Siamese with a funny language' by the country's majority. Can Buddhists and Muslims live together in Malaysia? - Yes, they can. It's a multicultural society. -- Can 'Buddhists' and Muslims live together in (the south of) Thailand? - It's much more complicated, and some Muslims may say 'no'...
  19. I guess, Thailand is 'popular' with the Thais. Who would have thought...
  20. So, despite of so much interest from tourists, 2022 is practically written off now?
  21. Must be virtual tourists. Only because people look at destinations doesn't necessarily mean that they will actually travel there. I'm sure, if I googled 'Yala' or 'Pattani' to find the locations of recent news items, a "Booking.com" booking site would pop up (as so often), even though I have no intention to spend a holiday there.
  22. Certainly not where it used to be prevalent, i.e. West- and Central Africa. And yes, the WHO warned three weeks ago that it could spread to a wider demographic.
