  1. Probably more like necessary treatments that are not easily available in Myanmar or Cambodia. - Time for a new tourism campaign to lure thousands of Burmese and Cambodian billionaires to Thailand??
  2. Yes, sure. That's why there are 1.1m posts and thousands of pages about Thailand visas here... Because it is, (and will always stay) so simple.
  3. Yes, it's my guesstimate. I don't pretend that it is a real number. Could very well be less.
  4. Well, travelling to Thailand and extending my visas has to do with me, and such crooks and (possible) overblown new restrictions could affect me and other travellers and expats.
  5. Better to get more rich Chinese triad types...
  6. Or who ratted him out, his landlord, bank, or someone else who knew about his visa status.
  7. Well, in Thailand, 71 is definitely 'elderly'.
  8. Exactly. Chinese, rich, creating 'extra value' (not last for certain government employees)... Probably, 9 out of 10 Thais will still favour such 'tourists' over "those cheap Charlie backpackers".
  9. What I am, personally, more interested in, when and to what extend will the next immigration crackdown happen, following these news, on "foreigners who stay too long, or come too often to Thailand"...
  10. Is the teacher actually teaching this, or was it a 'teachers joke' in class?
  11. True. And the headline of the article is misleading: "Even as..." - A strong baht has never helped Thailand, as it relies on cheap exports and holiday destinations.
  12. Maybe it's tailored for those luxury tourists from South Korea... ????
  13. Does (Kan)Ye know what Hitler would have done to people like him, if he (Hitler) had won the war?
  14. Maybe young people = 30% of new infections.
  15. Pattaya - the place where foreign tourists travel to, to visit the temples...
  16. I wouldn't bother going to such a bar, but would have my beer at the hotel, watching girls online.
  17. Some better-educated Thais know English grammar well. They can explain it (in Thai), but still cannot string a conversational phrase together.
  18. Exactly. Not to mention that a majority of Thais study English from K1 to grade 12, i.e. 15 years (and more). Does the British curriculum offer similar (compulsory) Thai lessons?
  19. Never mind English. Thailand wants to attract Chinese, Indian, and Russian tourists. - What are Thais' language skills in Mandarin, Hindi, and Russian?
  20. Exactly! Tried years ago to buy a SIM card in China. Huge headache! Shop tried to register me like everyone else as required by law, but staff didn't manage, as foreign passports weren't accepted for SIM card registration. I worry, Thailand will go the same way, having to download a dozen apps that more or less work, and registration only with Thai ID.
  21. There are reasons why the U.S. and UK don't hand out extended visas for Thais easily, i.e. possible illegal work. (That's why, for example, as a female Thai tourist under 70, you can expect to be interviewed by immigration every single time you enter Hong Kong, even for short visits.) As for foreign tourists, have you ever seen Yanks and Brits working illegally in Thailand as dishwashers or masseuses?
  22. I was referring to going with 'a group of young men in a car' (to make some money). Not about being gay, but, IMHO an unwise decision.
