  1. In 2015 I went from shop to shop. The staff tried to register me with my passport number, then told me: "Cannot. Only Chinese ID number."
  2. Such large dictatorships have traditionally known only two answers; either brute force (if many Chinese were to question the regime) inward (Tiananmen Square 2.0?), or aggression outward (e.g. Taiwan invasion) to divert people's attention via nationalistic war 'games'...
  3. Down in price today too. Thai gold seems to have separate pricing from world markets...
  4. Seems they hired former TAT staff to come up with such numbers...
  5. That's my guess too. Imagine you transferred 65,000 baht monthly for your visa, but received only 55,250 baht in your bank account, and then you would have to prove with a, into Thai translated and by your embassy certified, document from back home, to overworked, barely English speaking Thai revenue bureaucrats that your money has already been taxed. Expect not to have use of your money for the next 2-3 years... You can as well write it off as a 'donation' for Thailand.
  6. Yes, as a foreigner I don't even get any interest on the balance of my KTB bank account.
  7. Wait for it; in China it's hard to get even a SIM card, as it needs to be registered by the shop, which can only be done online if the buyer has a Chinese ID card. I'm waiting for that to be introduced in Thailand...
  8. They can't even figure out our data that were dozens of times keyed into their database. And from own experience I know that they cannot even track 30-day reports...
  9. Many may not have to pay taxes, but may still be forced to pay for translations, and communicating with authorities in their home country. Plus, with all kinds of paper documents being reused in Thailand, expect everyone and their dog to be able to know your income and financial situation...
  10. Getting on a plane and travelling west, one can still live in the past or present...
  11. Now Thailand just has to establish a visa for the average (vs. rich, who can probably hire someone to use the laptop) digital nomad...
  12. I don't think they care. They will just get whatever they can lay their hands on, and the transfers that are not taxed due to their inadequate system will be spared. Taxation equality - unlikely...
  13. At the same time that the TAT celebrated a future massive influx of Chinese tourists, government and media warned of possible crime associated with it. But, as usual, greed kept the upper hand...
  14. I certainly will. But I'm wondering what will happen if it is declined; will I be fined if having to report in person after the due date, if the online report was declined?
  15. Thank you. Yes, I've already got the first email in my mailbox.
  16. No, I tried (then succeded) to do a report online. I couldn't close the 'agreement' window on my phone, but I later did it on a computer, and already got an 'acknowledgement' email.
  17. Okay, I did this on a computer. Clicked on 'Submit'? Redirected to a page that looks like the official form one would fill out by hand, with my printed name as signature, Reference Number on top left. What's next?
  18. Do you have the direct link? All I see is Surname, Given name, and Phone number...
  19. Also, would I need to show my apartment lease if I went for my second report in person to Chaengwattana?
  20. Yes, I registered with the website. The TM47 slip shows the date X+90, even though I reported about 2 weeks early.
  21. Tried to do my TM.47 report online for the first time (reported in person around 90 days earlier), but after typing in my name, phone number, and picking the date I was asked to report, I only get "No Data/Insufficient Data"... What am I doing wrong? Also, doing my earlier 90-day report about 2 weeks early, when do I actually have to report again; 1st date + 180d, or 2nd date + 90d?
  22. 3% is not bad, IF it could be achieved...
  23. So, you think all expats will have to send in a tax report from next year on, whether or not they have any income in Thailand or abroad?
  24. Yes. On the plus-side, she might have skin white like a wall now, which seems to be more important in this part of the world than getting a couple more scars...
