  1. No, I tried (then succeded) to do a report online. I couldn't close the 'agreement' window on my phone, but I later did it on a computer, and already got an 'acknowledgement' email.
  2. Okay, I did this on a computer. Clicked on 'Submit'? Redirected to a page that looks like the official form one would fill out by hand, with my printed name as signature, Reference Number on top left. What's next?
  3. Do you have the direct link? All I see is Surname, Given name, and Phone number...
  4. Also, would I need to show my apartment lease if I went for my second report in person to Chaengwattana?
  5. Yes, I registered with the website. The TM47 slip shows the date X+90, even though I reported about 2 weeks early.
  6. Tried to do my TM.47 report online for the first time (reported in person around 90 days earlier), but after typing in my name, phone number, and picking the date I was asked to report, I only get "No Data/Insufficient Data"... What am I doing wrong? Also, doing my earlier 90-day report about 2 weeks early, when do I actually have to report again; 1st date + 180d, or 2nd date + 90d?
  7. 3% is not bad, IF it could be achieved...
  8. So, you think all expats will have to send in a tax report from next year on, whether or not they have any income in Thailand or abroad?
  9. Yes. On the plus-side, she might have skin white like a wall now, which seems to be more important in this part of the world than getting a couple more scars...
  10. The problem is that I don't live in that area anymore, meaning it's the other end of Bangkok. Tried to find one in the area where I'm living now, but saw only closed shops and/or lady salons... And not many foreigners live here, not to mention no prices on display. Maybe I will check for recommendations online, or, alternatively, wait till my next trip to Pattaya... LOL
  11. Yeah, via Google Maps I found the opening hours online. It's supposed to be open, but it's not.
  12. I found info online about one I've been going to since 2000. Supposedly open on Fridays, so either that info is wrong, I was unlucky, or they closed for good...
  13. LOL. No, actually, somehow, I found the opening ours of the shop I've been going to online. Usually 7 a.m. But either it is closed today, or closed for good; which would be the second barber shop within a couple of months. What is it with barber shops going out of business in 2022/23?
  14. What time do Bangkok barber shops open on a Friday?
  15. https://aseannow.com/topic/1307547-calls-for-clarification-of-new-tax-regime-which-appears-to-target-expat-foreign-income-sources/
  16. This is becoming quite common. Pay bills, or even into your own bank account - asked for passport...
  17. The prime minister was quoted as saying that 'foreigners in Thailand are the target due to some "inequalities". (A post on this news forum quoted a related newspaper article a few days ago.)
  18. We will only know for sure once a forum member transfers a larger sum to a Thailand bank in 2024...
  19. True. Poorly treated, underpaid, and hired only for the lowest jobs. If one goes to a bank here, where staff has no clue about anything, and also doesn't understand a word of English, but only the security guard from Myanmar does, who is also alert and knowledgeable, one has to ask why they don't swop jobs...
  20. Not likely. According to a recent BP article, there were (only) 156,596 expats in 2022. Exchange rates are mostly influenced by a strong/weak dollar, the crude oil price, or if Thailand's exports slump significantly.
  21. True. This is not about international double tax agreements, or 'already taxed or not', but about the actual implementation... Knowing that everything here (e.g. Immigration offices, visa issuance, different pricing for foreigners, etc., etc.) is in a 'grey area', how do expats know that they will be treated fairly and according to the letter of the law?
  22. When I got the usual interrogation I just lied about everything. Haven't been asked that question for a long time. Used to be one of the first by taxi drivers years ago. But it seems they don't know 'that much' English anymore.
  23. Thai-French, then French-English...
  24. I remember from years ago that there were also lots of Cambodians. But yes, calling Phuket 'overcrowded by tourists' based on the small number of locals is quite a stretch, as there is a large number of Thais from other parts of the country living there, who are not registered in the province. Same applies to Pattaya and, most probably, Krabi. Strange though that the three islands off Surat Thani are not on the list.
