I've bought a couple of bikes from a local Yamaha dealer, including an Aerox.
On both occasions they wouldn't budge from the listed price but it was an 'on the road' price with the usual freebies :
Crash helmet (full face with Aerox) , rubbish rain jacket and maybe a rice cooker!

It took 45 days to get the book, plates and tax disc with Gov. insurance. All was dated from the day I took the bike so I was covered by the mandatory insurance.

i've visited a few dealers recently, firstly in Bangkok then in Pattaya

a dealer in BKK gave me a discount on a Yamaha Exciter 155....71,700.....others said 77k and the website says 74k!

OP that's a 'better' bike than a Xerox, same engine but it's a manual and it's cheaper......

1 dealer told me it's faster than the Xerox, maybe not off the line, cos it has 'proper big wheels'........depends if you can change gears or just wanna 'squirt and go' lulz

But this is Thailand, not the UK. The road tax and compulsory insurance (p.r.b) go with the vehicle, do yes, they "continue to live" till the expiration date.

sure thanks...yes I was being sarcastic and having a dig at the UK and taxes, my 2 fave bugbears.........q the nhs lovers, to tell us we need taxes to pay for our health, lmao.......nice day to you sir

You get a very basic 3rd party insurance when you tax a vehicle, but that does not cover damage to vehicles only people. Those test centers, also sell insurance, and will get the road tax for you, if you don't want to go to a busy Land transport office, they also test vehicles older than 7yrs.  what is a POA form?

Power of Attorney, apparently the seller doesn't need to go to the DLT office

they just sign the green book and fill in a POA and Transfer of Ownership forms....

so does the road tax continue to 'live' with the car? in the UK you need to buy it from scratch again, yeah taxes eh.....

My current PEA grid electric is 3.7bht/unit.

interesting, when I lived in frogland I got my usage down to circa 100kWh/month.....so that would cost me 370baht a month plus standing charge?

that's a big house with a big TV too lol.......soz I know you 'big players' are probs yawning but yeah, interesting ????

Should be good. Where is your nearest dealer?

Malaysia!! Another development lol contacted a guy on facebook who directed me to a telegram group, it appears a guy on there sells 'repossessed bikes'

    sooooo I'm now looking at a 2021 Yammy Y16ZR which has a 5.4 litre tank and like 17.7hp for 3000 Ringgits, that's only £535 at todays rate......no brainer!! ????

so the only question is, how do I tour Thailand on a Malay registered bike and who's best for cheapest insurance over here?

thanks for listening fellow riders ????

    Solar panels (340W) were 2,600bht in 2020, today 2023 they cost 3,600bht.

    So getting 35% more expensive.

still significantly cheaper than 5-20 years ago.....the reason inflation has gone crazy recently is they used convid as an excuse to print trillions, just look at the central bank balance sheets and those of the rich ????
