Why the hell would you want to ride a pushbike in Thailand ? do you have a death wish ? And as for riding a pushbike in any part of Pattaya, well, I think you need your head testing.

I don't know how old you are but if you wanna get older leave the bike at home and walk or Baht bus your way around town. :whistling:

Anyone who calls a bicycle a "pushbike" probably shouldn't be riding one of the many modern MTBs, road bike etc. in a modern city like Pattaya. Leave that to the qualified people!

Although I've input on this topic a few times...

It breaks down this easily for me.....I've had parties in my home (Thailand) that have had well over 30 filipinos....I've been to parties with over 100 of them here....I've spoken with business owners living here from the Philippines....

I'm connected to a family in the priviledged class of the PI = (90+ hotels, strings of 7/11's, catering companies, restaurants).....

After either multiple/extended visits - or the ones based here for whatever circumstances = not one, not a single one wants to return to the PI from TH.....

These are people with deep connections and invested lives in/from all areas of the Philippines - and not a one wants to leave Thailand & go back.....

    Not one.....

They blend in well and are largely unnoticed and happily living here.......

There are many more than a few here....

always laugh at these people that claim to be so connected....at least the house party is alive and well!

    Ok “lamo” here ya go….

Put a non-smoker in a room for 1 hour with 100 smokers and everyone walks out alive.  Put 100 non-smokers in a room for 1 hour with an idling automobile and no one walks out alive.

My great-grandfather smoked his entire adult life and lived to be 100 years old.  He rolled his own tobacco cigarettes and I knew him as a child.  Manufactured cigarettes contain dozens, if not more, additives and chemicals designed to increase the shelf life, burn rate, etc. etc. and some even spiked with nicotine to increase the possibility of addiction and thus help to insure a long term customer base.

I will never understand why some TVF members only seem capable of posting comments designed to antagonize others.  Maybe you should try smoking.  It might help you calm down a bit.  Recalling many of your other posts you definitely need something.

Forget your life & death strawman argument, what about people who are allergic and get headaches from the stench or do not want to sit beside a disgusting smelling person on a bus subway etc.  I like the idea about locking the smokers away in some room though!

Just to be clear, the International Driving License is not valid in Thailand, the International Driving Permit is  They are separate documents so don't get them mixed up.

Actually, according to this website, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Driving_Permit#The_1968_convention_(original)

Thailand ratified the 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic. But not that of 1968.

Many people are carrying the 1968 document, and heard of one girl who's driver's license was refused because she had the wrong one!

  5. Not buying the explanation by OP.

Why would JT go to China via Cameron Highlands? Also, this passage below is inconsistent

"Thompson was put under surveillance while the CPM checked his background. They learned that the American had been an intelligence officer during World War II. He was suspected of being a spy.

At the time, communication was difficult for the CPM. They lacked radios and relied on couriers to carry messages among disparate groups around Malaysia and their border headquarters in Betong, Thailand. Each CPM cell was pretty much on its own and handled security issues themselves."

This was pre-internet and by their own admission it would have taken weeks or months to do a background check on JT by which time he would have been long gone.  I think the guys doing this have spent too much time watching Discovery Channel!

You misunderstood me. There are different styles of pizza in Italy. Some pizza places internationally try hard and sometimes succeed in well replicating those styles, often using imported ingredients, in my opinion. Other than that there are many many global regional styles of pizza that can also be wonderful eating, that aren't trying to be authentic Italian style pizzas. For example, the famous Chicago style pizza places quite openly aren't trying to be an Italian pizza. They do something very different and they do what they do do very well. That said, the root origin of their style I think is Sicilian style pizzas, but they aren't Sicilian, they're CHICAGO.

Stop making stuff up...the wiki entry on Chicago pizza makes no mention of Sicily.

Underground services, anywhere,  are notoriously poorly  documented, even with the advent of 3D CAD which hasn't b3n around a long time in comparison to how long stuff has been buried.  I have had to use cable finding equipment many times prior to excavation in factories 30 years old or less.  These were well documented facilities..... Not the usual local government run installations.

Nothing new in this report.  Happens everywhere but good for a Thai bash I expect.

    It's all about 4D now.....

  8. The Dr back in Australia's advice reminded me of that old Henny Youngman joke

Patient: "Doctor, Doctor, it hurts when I do this."

    Doctor:  "Then don't do that!"

Ok on a roll here...another one from Henny

A doctor says to a man "You want to improve your love life? You need to get some exercise. Run ten miles a day." Two weeks later, the man called the doctor. The doctor says "How is your love life since you have been running?" "I don't know, I'm 140 miles away!"

And let's finish off with a lawyer classic,

A man calls a lawyer's office. The phone is answered, "Schwartz, Schwartz, Schwartz and Schwartz." The man says, "Let me talk to Mr. Schwartz." "I'm sorry, he's on vacation." "Then let me talk to Mr. Schwartz." "He's on a big case, not available for a week." "Then let me talk to Mr. Schwartz." "He's playing golf today." "Okay, then, let me talk to Mr. Schwartz." "Speaking."

  10. His best bet might be a reality TV show based in LA skid row, kind of a  cross between Survivor and Im a Celebrity get me out of here.   His amazing survival skills after 20 years could also be sought after in the corporate world, so maybe he could act as a consultant or motivational speaker?

I don't think they're all the same ownership or menus.

In any case, I'm not a big fan of that place on 3rd road but the one near the mall on Klang is quite good.

Some great google reviews for the 3rd road place...

You just like to play silly games.

    It's so tedious.

Egg rolls / spring rolls ORIGINATED as an authentic Chinese dim sum item.

You can find them at many authentic Chinese dim sum restaurants.

Not saying they are the best example of Chinese dim sum (personally I don't order them at Chinese dim sum restaurants). Just saying they are originally Chinese dim sum.

As I already said, different nations have developed their own versions (and traditions of serving) of that original Chinese dim sum item.

    Thailand and the USA included.

Not going to comment more about MK.

I already explained I was talking about the Thai style "dim sum" typically served at shop houses and typically very poor examples of dim sum.

They're kind of the equivalent of Thai street 10 baht sushi compared to sushi in a decent Japanese restaurant.

If you're saying you prefer that style of crapola Thai style shop house dim sum to dim sum at a decent actual Chinese dim sum house, you are welcome to your tastes, but I would find that both bizarre and unbelievable.

Never mentioned anything about shophouses, so not sure what you are on about?

Honestly, the staff doesn't have much incentive to care. It's a business policy so unless there is a hard nosed manager on duty, I suppose you could order a whole pizza, place the entire thing in your own bag, and ask for the bill. You technically sat down and ordered it there. That would obviously be a skirting of their policy, but a staff member would have to care enough to make a scene about it to stop you. It's not something I would ever try but you may just have found a possible loophole. Enjoy.

On the other hand, such a game could easily backfire. You do that and then they would be within their rights to present you with a bill for the full regular price of that pizza. Then you'd have a scene. Do you pay it or take the pizza out of your bag and start eating it, demanding a correct bill.

OK then, what about bringing some of your own ingredients and adding them on top....would this get around the policy?

The point is, dude, that the promotion price is for eating in only. If you want to take it out, or get it delivered, you will get charged the NORMAL menu price which is much higher, as are all the other pizzas on their menu, even eating in. Duh. This ain't rocket science.

Apparently for you it is!  What if you eat a piece in house and then decide to take the rest away in a doggie bag.....are they gonna tackle you at the door!

  16. some pretty strict certification standards

    https://www.thespruce.com/what-is-neapolitan-pizza-2708762

    Official Certification

The Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (VPN) was founded in 1984 in Naples, Italy to certify pizzerias that use the proper ancient artisan traditions of authentic Neapolitan pizza. They have several requirements (see below) that must be met to gain certification, which must be applied for by a restaurant. They now also have an American branch and there are currently a few hundred restaurants in Italy and around the world that are VPN certified.

    Authentic Neapolitan Pizza Requirements

An authentic Neapolitan pizza has a crust made from a dough that is made with highly refined Italian type 0 or 00 wheat flour (read more about flour types), Neapolitan or fresh brewer’s yeast (not dry yeast), water and salt. The dough must be kneaded by hand or with a low-speed mixer and formed by hand, without the help of a rolling pin. The dough is topped with raw, pureed San Marzano tomatoes from Italy, fior di latte, which is mozzarella cheese made from cow’s milk, or mozzarella di Bufala, which is mozzarella cheese made from the milk of water buffalos, usually raised in the Campania and Lazio marshlands in Italy. It's topped off with fresh basil and extra-virgin olive oil. The ingredients must be all-natural and fresh.

The pizza is baked for 60-90 seconds (baking time cannot exceed 90 seconds) in a minimum 800 F stone oven with a wood fire.
