marriage visa after leaving thailand
DrJack54 replied to Lolothai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
One of the married guys can advice you better. My understanding is that you are meant to be living together for marriage extensions. To the extent of home visit including pictures inside home and witnesses. Some of your posts indicate that this will be difficult for your wife. -

Which immigration office Perhaps folk that deal with your office can advise what is required for home visit. You need to be present. Also be aware that sometimes witness is needed. -

Is your immigration office likely to do home visit. Hopefully not. -
Don't quite follow your post. Normally you would apply for non O marriage that visa would give you a 90 day permission of stay.. You would then obtain your 12 month extension in the last 30 days of that permission of stay, the money having been in the bank for 2 months. You would be given an under consideration period. When you return for the final stamp you require your passport. Note the immigration office may want to see undated bankbook with the 400k in the account. After receiving final stamp you can use bank funds as required.

Visa Requirement
DrJack54 replied to Pompey Lad 1938's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Some will suggest ongoing non O retirement with extensions. Wife can piggy back on his extension based on retirement. This would require return to Thailand every year while extension still valid. Also require reentry permit. Given age, thinking tourist visa plus extension with one border run and extension gives flexibility to travel plans. You are permitted 2 visa exempt border entries per year. Bit depends on location they stay in Thailand. -
Visa Requirement
DrJack54 replied to Pompey Lad 1938's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Various options available to them. Over 50? METV is one option but requires an exit from Thailand and reenter is just one option. A SETV with extension and one border run reenter visa exempt with extension gives 60+30+30+30 5 months. Other option if older than 50 -
@JiminLA have a good read of this post from @skatewash IMO sums up your options very well. The only small thing I could add that if you decide to obtain a non O retirement inside of Thailand rather than the non O-A obtained in USA, then opening a Thai bank account is best done by use an agent if entering visa exempt or TV. You mention continue to live in USA, so what are is your plan? Obtain a new non O-A every 2 years in the states. How many months of each year do you plan to live in Thailand. As you can read in thread many suggest you obtain a non O retirement. That can be done in Thailand or home country..

Thailand Pass Turnaround Time?
DrJack54 replied to NoDisplayName's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Good that it was easy. Thinking you will find TP not required by July 11. Here is current thread from news forum. -
When you enter example June 5 you will receive a stamp with 90 day permission of stay. In the last 30 days of that permit you will obtain 12 month extension with 800k having been in the bank for 2 months. I assume you already have a Thai bank account. Regarding insurance buy the cheapest covid insurance with 10k cover for period of 30 days. Thinking there is a 650baht option.

Funny, I never have an issue. I certainly don't do "deals". The vendors have a tough gig. Just last weekend at Bang Saen beach. Lovely bloke where we sat for 3 days. 4 adults 2 kids so 300baht per day. Had couple of heavy rain/wind periods. Our hotel opposite had a closed down open air restaurant (covid victim). The vendor carried all out food over the road when storm hit. We booked the same set of chairs tables for the 3 days and he kept them for us as we left and returned. I have same set up in Pattaya and that family know us. We get treated great. There are customers and customers. Clip from last Saturday. https://photos.app.goo.gl/J7i3egArErXFUJZg7

marriage visa after leaving thailand
DrJack54 replied to Lolothai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You will need the money in the bank seasoned for 2 months on the day you apply for extension and remaining in the account for approx one month after application. Referred to as under consideration period. As for the money.... banks or loan sharks lend money.. You could rule out bank -
I had to read your OP couple of times... Seriously ...you speak excellent Thai? and with almost 16k posts would/should be very familiar with Thailand. However seems the opposite to me.

Arrival on visa exempt

I'm doing short trip back home later this year. Doubt TP will be required in couple of months, however the 650 baht throw away insurance is best option.. -

Most likely TP not required by the time of your travel. Some suggest may be gone by June 1. Thinking more like July 1. -

You are not the only one. Several posts asking advice re application for non O. Since you only need 21 days then visa exempt is obvious best choice. Select cheapest covid insurance cover for 30 days.
