Best visa to arrive on before non-O?
DrJack54 replied to ozimoron's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
At a guess you will fly Adelaide to Melb then to either Bangkok or Phuket. Jetstar Will require on onward flight within 30 days, to issue you with boarding pass. You can buy cheapest onward flight eg BKK to Phnom Penh as a throw away flight or Google "onward flight". There you will find companies that provide a confirmed flight that covers airline requirements for boarding pass. Very cheap. -
Best visa to arrive on before non-O?
DrJack54 replied to ozimoron's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
To obtain non O you only require the 800k in bank on day you apply. The non O gives a 90 day permission of stay. During that time you can season the funds for 2 months then apply for extension. As for bank account ...if yours is closed be aware that an agent can assist with new account and then do the rest yourself. -
Best visa to arrive on before non-O?
DrJack54 replied to ozimoron's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No problem to use visa exempt entry. You can obtain 30 day extension. You need to decide if your going to place 800k in bank or not. Your posts jump around a bit. Seems you will go the agent path. Plenty good ones in Pattaya. -
New 90 Day Report Proceedure
DrJack54 replied to connda's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I prefer to be referred to by correct term : Extra-Terrestrial. Fact that has lots of R,s is a bonus. -
Stop. Many examples of someone making slip up for example money in bank. Then require agent. Provided they then cover next 12 months then next extension won't be an issue.

I have refrained from this thread. In part because the OP has no idea. Along with many posts the same. After using an agent there is clear path back to doing extension by yourself. It requires one year forward planning. Finding this thread very poor advice.

Non O/A VIsa- Insurance from UK?
DrJack54 replied to funkykyle's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That's not common these days. Clearly no plans to retire in thailand. Non O retirement would be your best option. BTW you can obtain non O in UK or in Thailand. Note insurance requirements for non O-A change Sept 1. -

The OP has provided little detail regarding what type of extension and which immigration office. He would obtain more accurate info if he did. -

Good visa agency in Bangkok?
DrJack54 replied to TPDH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The que for reentry permit would be small. To be honest in 10 years here and obtaining reentry permit every year pre covid, I have never even bothered obtaining reentry permit at CW. I go each year and the norm is to after annual extension granted go and get another que # for reenter permit desk. Have never done it! Why, because it's so damn easy at the airport. If you wish to use an agent then do so. -

Banked retirement funds?
DrJack54 replied to bobyogi's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You are starting over and obtaining a new non O marriage so you will require 400k in bank on day of application for non O marriage. Then for the extension you require the 400k in bank for 2 months That's it. If the dates had been different you could have obtained a reentry permit and changed from extension based on retirement to based on marriage. -
Good visa agency in Bangkok?
DrJack54 replied to TPDH's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You don't need an agent. If your flying out from BKK they provide a 200baht service to fill in form. Or do it yourself at airport at departure. Need form and photo and 3800baht. When applying for a re-entry permit you will need to submit the following: A completed TM-8 form. The correct fee. Colored photo (4cm x 6cm) Photocopy of passport (main page and latest entry stamp -
If you tick car and bike box they provide 2 certificates. Then as @skatewash suggests also tick register car they will provide total of 3 = 600baht. Aside point: Anyone wanting to obtain car and bike license on same visit to transport office only select Car Licence. You can photocopy in order to cover the bike. otherwise they will charge 400baht.
