  1. Stop being pedantic. Of course he would need to obtain a work permit. The point is he cannot obtain a work permit with an extension based on retirement. He can with extension based on marriage
  2. Not required. Very detailed list in this link. Refer to #5. https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/onlineservice-and-publicguide/ Still better just hand your pp to photocopy joint next to immigration and they will copy required pages of pp required. Even more better obtain reentry permit at airport and have them do everything including TM8 and photo. 200b
  3. Single reentry permit 1000b Multiple reentry permit 3800b
  4. If he "starts over" he is in same boat as the other folk without income letter. To use income method he would need to show 12 monthly transfers. For that reason you see those starting over or just obtaining Non O retirement for first time ....use money in bank method. Will be useless in start over process Edit: one caveat.... immigration may cut some slack. Perhaps only requiring 6 month of transfers for next extension. Thinking something like this occurred back in 2018/19 when letters were dropped for UK,USA, AU citizens
  5. I mentioned in my first post . That only applies to extensions from a Non O-A. If extension based on retirement insurance required. If based on marriage no insurance required.
  6. Yes the under consideration period can sometimes be longer than a month. That's an issue for eg Roster workers such as oil/gas etc. Some folk don't mind the home visit. For me it's a deal breaker. A minor consideration and perhaps more for others..... If you divorce then with marriage extension then that extension ends.
  7. True. For some reason I have always found that strange. But them the rules.
  8. You can apply anytime. The form has a departure date field. Put any date you like Edit: assume you are on extensions from a Non O-A and not actual valid Non O-A visa Here is TM8 form https://www.diald.nu.ac.th/download/International Service/Overseas Staff/05 Re-Entry Permit/Form TM.8.pdf The form is double sided. You print it that way. Meaning end up with one sheet form. Assume that you are aware that reentry permit is also available at airport on departure
  9. You stated along with other "stuff" ...."Lying an affidavit in the US is a prosecutable offence" Who cares. The Canadian embassy will no longer provide "income letter" for immigration. BTW: Nor does USA embassy in Thailand
  10. Your point? In future Canadian embassy in Thailand will not be providing "income letter"
  11. Based on retirement. 1. No home visit 2. Far less paperwork 3. No under consideration period 4. Wife does not need to attend immigration with you. 5. etc Based on marriage. 1. Extremely easy financials 2. You can work 3. No insurance requirement for extensions from a Non O-A 4. etc https://aseannow.com/topic/1313160-which-is-preferable-a-marriage-visa-or-a-retirement-visa/ https://aseannow.com/topic/1311246-retirement-visa-versus-marriage-visa-which-is-best/
  12. Clearly you have not read the thread in detail to understand the reasons why all this has occurred.
  13. The only difference is what you need to show for financial requirements. For first extension only need to show 800k in Thai bank account seasoned for 2 months. Immigration should accept your bankbook photocopies. Other requirements are the same as ongoing extension reports. Edit: after you obtain the extension please report your experience. In particular what was required for proof of address. My first ever extension I had a lease. Not TM30. Guessing you plan on providing TM30 minimum
  14. @Toolong the post above from Upnotover explains it exactly.
  15. Not sure if you are serious. You have been given sound advice. You will be able to obtain reentry permit at airport. I have over a dozen. Max time it ever took was 30min (once) . Other times approx 5-10 mins. Also as I posted earlier. Why have threads asking about border bounce and now reentry permits!
  16. Yes and yes. Thai bank account first You wait till 800k has been in Thai bank account for two months. Can apply up to 30 prior to expiry up to expiry date No
  17. Thai authorities back in ~ 2018 asked embassies to VERIFY what was stated in the affidavit/statutory declarations. That cannot be done. In any event all irrelevant. Canadian embassy will join embassies that have stopped issuing what we refer to as "income letter" To use income method in future will need to show year of monthly transfers
  18. OP has a Non O category. He will receive a 5 yr TDL upon renewal
  19. @Nowaythatsreal your other threads eg one attached indicate you wish to exit Thailand and reenter visa exempt. Why now asking for reentry permit.
  20. https://www.diald.nu.ac.th/download/International Service/Overseas Staff/05 Re-Entry Permit/Form TM.8.pdf The form is double sided. You print it that way. Meaning end up with one sheet form.
  21. Bottom line is you have your permission of stay for next 12 months + . Small note for next extension. If you change from based on marriage to Retirement the 12 month extension will start from date of application and not date of current expiry.
  22. Pick above is BKK. Located Zone 2. After security check and PRIOR to passport control. The desk in pic is to left side of immigration lines Note at DMK the reentry permit desk is just PAST immigration passport control.
  23. That won't happen. If the desk was ever "unmanned" you would draw staff to the fact and an immigration officer will attend. It's bullet proof. They even provide a 200b option to fill in form + photo. Single reentry 1000b Multiple reentry 3800b Plus OPTIONAL service fee 200b
  24. No appointment for transferring stamps etc. You will be directed to L32-35 desks
