  1. before arriving i took out covid insurance with FW-) or whatever its called for 650 baht for 1 month, as i believe many did. The phone number quoted for covid claims shows as 02 650 1223 which gives a recorded message that the number does not exist!!???

  2. I arrived on visa exempt and am renting condo and owner says need to report my stay to Immigration with tm6. I am assuming it is same system as before. I was given tm6 on plane and completed it and given to airport immigration with passport so I did get one. Either wasn't given departure slip back or I lost it.

  3. I arrived today (6\7) at Suvumbharmi airport and after arriving in Pattaya I cannot find my TM 6 departure slip anywhere, so I will be off to Immigration Soi  5 early tomorrow (7/7) to sort it out.

What is procedure and any cost please?

  4. And getting a booster when protection drops low between 4 and 6 months. So imv a booster around every 6 months. Hence 2 a year is prudent worked around any new variant issues.

Btw, vaccines don't stop you catching Covid. Their real worth is effective at reducing hospitalization and death plus reduction in long covid risk. That's kinda worth it!!!

  5. Yes, existing vaccines are not tailored to new sub variant, but it's not true, as they DO still provide a general immune protection response even so and should allow for a hospital and death free experience. Bottom line, that's all I'm really concerned about and its well protected even by current vaccines if up to booster stage and certainly for my 4 mixed shots. I'm not concerned at variant as vaccine will still be effective even if reduced and mixing is good.....2 Astrazenica. 1 Pfizer. 1 Moderna. Best I can do. Thanks UK NHS. ????

Heck, it's even the core content of this news article....

A senior Thai doctor has warned people not to underestimate the threat posed by the COVID-19 Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 sub-variants and has recommended additional booster shots, claiming that they can help ease serious consequences of infection by the mutated virus.

  6. I will travel to Thailand in June for 28 days and know I need at least $10,000 Covid cover.

I asked in uk travel agent today and their annual policy for trips of no more than 31 days sounded good value and can use for other trips as valid for a year. I asked about Covid cover and was told Medical cover is up to £10 million and this includes covid cover. On asking if the covid cover was for at least $10,000 equiv. the reply was its included in Medical cover and so is up to the £10 million....certainly more than enough but does this sound right as most (all) travel insurance has a very high Medical cover and if that includes covid then surely the standard travel policy so long as covid is included are ALL fine as a matter of course! I'd assumed with all the drama on this topic that covid insurance was an add on and certainly wasn't part of the bog standard travel insurance Medical Cover element that, so long as includes Covid cover, goes way beyond the minimum $10k requirement? I.e £10 mill!!

So, if I check that the Medical Cover on my travel insurance includes covid cover then as limit will be multiples of $10k equiv. (£10M) thats job done for the Thai Pass from 1/5/22 as do ALL travel insurance policies that include Covid in Medical Cover??

  7. Many thanks all.

Yes I am double vaccinated and by departure will also have had booster.

Do you have link to apply for online Thailand Pass?

So I just need Thailand pass, covid test result within 72 hours UK departure, flight tickets - date/details fitting as stated above and passport, if nothing changes meantime?

  8. Thanks for info.

Yes, I am a brit. So on arrival I can just roll up at BKK Airport Thai immigration with passport and no visa at all and be granted 30 days stay courtesy of being Visa Empt and then able to extend my stay for another 30 days at immigration. Great!

How long before 1st 30 days expire should I go to Thai immigration to extend for another 30 days?

Can I book my return flight back to UK for 60 days after UK departure date, knowing I will extend after 1st 30 days, for a further 30 days at local Thai immigration?

  9. I'm in uk and plan to come to Thailand without arranging any visa. I assume I can stay for 30 days on a VOA entry?

Can this be extended for a week or more at Immigration?

Or what's best option to extend a VOA for a further period when approaching its expiry?

General question irrespective of covid, although helpful to also include any related ramifications/covid changes and looking to depart uk in late January 2022

  10. I've had numerous occasions Thai hospitals have either mis-diagnosed or failed to treat an issue.

    Almost too many to count.

Telling me I had bolus and giving me anxiety pills when I had barratts, identified later in uk.

Not treating an infected wound after 15 courses of antibiotics telling me to go back my country.

Treating me for prosatitis and then telling me I didn't have it.

Prescribing antibiotics until I found out should not take if had tendon issues. I had Achilles tendon couple months before. Told doctor who blamed me for not telling him-as if I would know! He didn't ask me or advise me until I happened to Google and see.

Ear problem. Completely misdiagnosed after hearing tests. Given pills and steroid spray up nose that did nothing. Months later it improved by itself as it was a physical change after failed implant where bone moved when chewing and caused air pressure type symptoms that doctor had not a clue. Now have diagnosed in uk.

    Many more......

Not to mention the priority of Thai hospitals of doing tests and procedures to get money! And hospital pharmacies to over charge whilst doctors often guess and over prescribe. My experiences are many and varied but just about all have been poor to terrible.

I run a mile or return to UK whenever I need to see a hospital unless I must go out of urgency or necessity. Thai hospitals in general are incompetent places of guesswork and over prescribing, usually by a supposed expert who is unaccountable.
