Come to that.....
If airlines allowed boarding 100% on understanding that an extension at Thai immigration was going to be given and airlines not responsible in unlikely event of being refused entry for up to 60 day stay ....and here's the reason.....because Thai immigration allowed anyone they decided not to admit due to no flight out within 30 days to book at throwaway flight at Thai immigration. All that needs to happen is to be able to book this throwaway flight IF it's demanded by Thai immigration AT Thai immigration. Hence no issues left for airline to deny boarding at Heathrow.
This silly anomaly just takes the parties involved to have a 20 minute chat and agree a simple workaround.
Having tourists required to risk not being allowed to board OR needing to buy a pointless flight isn't a satisfactory situation to remain in place.
-
I see.
I suppose knowing you may just need a cheap throwaway ticket then one may as well book a flight and return for within 60 days without bothering with a throwaway flight. Then only if at Heathrow they stop you from boarding do you buy a throwaway flight online. That way you either avoid the throwaway flight completely or just have to buy it at Heathrow if boarding stopped at check-in.

Majortom
Why didn't he just buy a cheap throwaway ticket online as is being recommended. That would have given him a departure within airline required timeframe
-
Exactly drjack54
Then there's no rationale for airline to refuse my travel with an up to 60 day flight duration ticket because Thai immigration will let me in and then it's my risk etc
-
I see.
I'd be tempted to book a ticket with return date within 60 days and if asked at Heathrow tell them I will be extending my stay at Thai immigration.
Do people do this?
If Heathrow did stop me flying this way then what's to stop me booking a throwaway ticket online on the spot in that situation to comply? Why would I deliberately want to buy a pointless ticket before I finds out if I even need it?
If the issue was that I might be refused entry at Thai Immigration then I see the rationale for not being allowed to fly but afaik that's not the case as Thai immigration would admit me. Surely then Heathrow should be able to assume I am law abiding and if I was not the risk is mine as is any penalty within Thailand.

Thanks
What do most people do?
If they buy a throwaway ticket, I don't get why. Rules slow you can extend in country to 60 days so at airport you should be able to tell them to check the rules as you will extend in country so why any need for a throwaway ticket?
-
Thanks guys
So as I'm uk citizen I get visa exempt on arrival if I just turn up.
In normal times assuming it goes back to 30 days, Can I book a flight for a stay of 60 days? Because I would aim to extend for 30 days at immigration.

What is visa exempt?
Sorry, I know voa and other visa for tourist etc, but what is visa exempt?

Really a laughable action from Putin.
Caught out and shamed but in true style of the liar-in-czar it's double down time yet again. When caught out just increase the lies and pressure. Lmao
Criminal thug Putin should be charged for war crimes against his own citizens and in foreign countries using banned chemical (nerve agent) weapons with impunity. There's surely enough evidence world wide to obtain a conviction. Reprehensible!!

Any proof lmao
Either the whole world has it wrong or Putin's Russia killed litvenyenko, poisoned Scripals and now navalney. Plus many others no doubt and uses very dangerous toxic methods Novichoke in a haphazard way endangering the general public. Russian agents caught by dutch when scripal samples sent for independent tests. The lists and evidence is now overwhelming and undeniable. Of course the Russian playbook is deny everything and lie. Then seek to discredit and confuse, no matter how far fetched. Bare faced lying and denying straight out of the blocks time and again!
I don't see any other player using internationally banned nerve agents in public places in peacetime. Salisbury was a disgrace and only nut jobs now excuse Putin's Russia. Navalney has a confession and explanation from tricking the agent sent to clear up the evidence.
Objective appraisal is Putin is a criminal and liar. How could it be otherwise. Even his own comments about how spies and traitors should be dealt with support his own actions unless of course they are hero's like Blake lol
Q. How do you tell if Putin is lying?
A. If he opens his mouth

Russia is a rogue nation led by a dictator and thug.
When they are caught they lie with gusto and otherwise revert to it wasn't us because you have not conclusively shown proof. I believe it was Russia and hiding behind their only defence of "prove it" or we are innocent. Whilst russia never ever give evidence or join in investigations - just look at their lack of engagement with german request to respond on navalney questions. Non engagement when it suits and howls of criticism and fairy tale stories when caught.
Thoroughly barbaric leadership from a dictator who clings to power. One day the opposition who have not been poisoned or otherwise killed or subjugated will win out.
Just so many examples and being caught red handed on occasions like the Scandinavian lab checking the uk novichok test finding that anything the russians say we know is just lies. Russia needs to be renamed bare faced liar land!

My many experiences at thai hospitals has taught me to fly home to get trestment.
It's a mixed bag in thailand and at best it will be good. I've had too many times where it wasn't. In both private and public hospitals including Bangkok Pattaya; bumrungrad, queen sirikit, etc.
There's no accountability for problems if they occur.

I don't have a Thai partner and rent a house. I am in UK. I have retirement visa based on non imm O. I dont really mind if i stop living in thailand for my usual 6+ months a year.
If by the time I can go back I have lost my retirement visa I will NOT reapply. Screw them! I will no longer help support the thai economy by spending my money and renting a house. Instead I will visit on VOA when able and send my funds back to UK and travel to closer warm climates in winter.
If under covid circumstances there is no allowance made for those of us who would need to start the process all over again then I am very content to end my relationship with Thailand. Ending has some benefits and this would be the push to make my decision after 20 years quite an easy one. I can take Thailand or leave it and have no thais hee hee

Absolutely Robbieoff.
Tomazbodner,
I am okay to return each year for period of uk winter+ but not if i have to jump thtough hoops to re-establish. Im fine spending winters in thailand or stopping and trying pastures new and nearer. So, I'm letting the situation decide. I slightly think a change would be good but if I have retirement visa I will continue. If not then I will decamp to UK. It's not that difficult to understand surely. If I was keen to stay I would renew from scratch. I am not keen but will accept if it's not made difficult I.e. if I don't have to renew from scratch due to covid issues whilst abroad. If its not made easy in these circumstances then im not helping support the thai local economy any longer and easy for me to do as I can take Thailand or leave it these days.

I would continue if allowed to renew after expiry in the covid circumstances but have to admit I ever so slightly prefer to stop. Hence that means not renting a house and returning all assets and funds. I will let immigration choose and fully expect it will be my slight preference.

It's not tooooooo hard but having decided I am broadly fed up with Thailand then it's way tooooo hard.
If immigration let us renew after expiry if shown in passport we had been out of country when subsequently not allowed to return - without significant impediments . Then I would be okay to continue as is. However it's a close run thing and so needing to go through the whole process from scratch would be a deal breaker for me. I simply can't be bothered as not enough benefit and would relocate to UK and exploring other nearer winter options. I will let the visa issue determine my actions. I am no longer in love with Thailand.

I'm out of Thailand with my retirement visa due to expire in a couple of months.
Coming back when allowed, only to start all over again! If under the circumstances where I have not been allowed to return, I need to start all over again then I will relocate permanently back to UK and stop my support of Thai economy with funds moved back to UK.
I'm not jumping through all the immigration hoops when I can go elsewhere for the winter and live in UK which I prefer in the summer anyway.
People who can't enter Thailand should be allowed to renew any expired visa based stays when we are allowed back in normal times.

In general terms for info
They quote 2 figures and often the first one is the total amount maximum you can get. Not what you will get. Be careful to use the figure you will actually get and not the higher one that is the maximum amount with full qualifying years.
Also you can pay for back years but if you pay for years prior to 2016/17 they will not count towards your pension. I.e. they will not increase your pension but your payment will be gratefully received and count for nothing. Be careful.

Clearly more lies and deceit from putin and co. Putin is just a criminal thug who revels in poisoning and lying as a core pillar of foreign and internal government policy. Russian denial is now just a comedy show where we know the denial is a tissue of lies.

I'm in uk and re entry permit expires in January. If no provision made I will not jump through the hoops to reapply. I will go to Thailand on voa and tidy up my affairs. Bring my money home and live in uk.
It's much better here anyway in many ways. Just want somewhere warm to spend winter and plenty of closer choices.
