Oh no. I hope the health crisis that is turning into an economic disaster doesn't turn into a security catastrophe.
But a lot of them right wing nationalist populists that are in power now, like Trump and Pompeo and Navarro might use this crisis to go after their long-term enemy. China. It's perfectly set up for them to start a fight.
Where are the cool heads and mainstream sensible people that can reign in the reckless ones with hatred in their hearts. The adults with good judgment. Boris? No. Prayut? No.

You can see what the driver did wrong. He did it again.
He closed the back door very softly and didn't check that the door was closed properly before running around to the front.
Maybe its going to happen again with him!

This whole alcohol mess is only happening in Thailand. And its caused by an extremist religionist low intelligence prime minister's attempts to eliminate alcohol because of his religious beliefs. And using COVID to push forward that agenda.
Nothing to with reducing the numbers of cases below R=1. It already close to zero. Nothing to do with re-starting the economy which he should be focused on.
It would be good for the Thai's to look at what is happening in neighbouring countries to see how their low brow leader has his boot on their necks.

Prayut.. the unpopular populist. What a moron. My guess is he is one of the world leaders that will lose out after COVID. He is creating social unrest with his moronic control freak crackdowns.
When he limits bottles people have to go back more often to stock up exposing themselves to more risk. He really is dumb as a brick.

That's what happens when you have an alcohol ban and a curfew. What does the government expect.
If Prayut had his way, he would be in charge of a country in which alcohol was banned permanently and the people were under permanent curfew from 10pm to 4am. And that is what you get when a low intelligence high anger person is in charge.

The government creates these ridiculous situations with its moronic decision making. Treat the people like children and they will behave like children.
Military and authoritarian governments are renowned for stupid decisions because no-one holds them to account.
Look at Myanmar. Buses with doors that open into the middle of the road. Banning motorbikes in Yangon. Miles of unused roads and unused buildings in Napidaw.
Prayut...show your people some respect. Treat the people like adults and they will behave like adults!!!!

Why is the Thai government doing these nonsensical, badly thought out, badly implemented, uncoordinated attempts to get in people's faces?
Get out of people's faces if you are not intelligent enough to do anything useful!

I wouldn't be surprised if the alcohol ban is the cause of social disturbances in future. It will be the root cause of Prayut's demise.

"Squadron Leader Soradej Namruangsri said in his capacity as the airline’s executive vice president for operations. Soradej is also acting executive vice president of THAI’s corporate strategy and sustainable development"
The government thinks that because this guy knows how to fly planes it qualifies him to be in charge of operations and strategy for a mult-million dollar business that happens to fly planes.
The military thinks that the core competency for running an airline company is being able to fly a plane. When really it is experience, skills and knowledge about business.
When the head of the air force is also the Minister of Economics, your country is going to turn into Myanmar.

"Taweesin also said Thailand should learn lessons from other countries which had eased lockdown restrictions too early and then experienced a second wave of contagion"
Those other countries had hundreds of cases per day. Many had hundreds of deaths per day. And they still opened up a bit. And they are still a bit open. They know that they have to keep the rate of community transmission lower than 1.0. not at 0.0.
Only Thailand thinks it has to get the rate of transmission to pretty much 0.0 before it opens the economy even a bit.
Only Thailand of all the countries in the world persists with an army-enforced curfew and an alcohol ban.
Only Thailand, with ultra low case transmission, virtually zero community transmission, persists with an army-enforced curfew and an alcohol ban.

Do they know that Prayut is a non-drinking, anti-social, religious extremist with anger management problems.
He is not a person who sees the benefits to human nature of socialising and even less of alcohol.
Pity the country he usurped power and people that he controls against their will.
I am so glad I didn't end up in that moronic country during prohibition days.

Ultra low transmission. And they have a curfew, hotel ban and alcohol ban. Thai logic. Are they trying to crash the economy on purpose?

You wouldn't want to be in a country where an army guy was in charge when there was a virus going around.
He would only know how to ban things, cancel things, crackdown on things, close places down, and stop people from doing things.
He wouldn't have any idea about how to help people or how to open things up. And he wouldn't even want to loosen any control over the people.

In fact it will be more difficult to contain the cases in the southern provinces among the muslims there as they practice praying and eating together. As we come to Ramadan, they will be increasingly pressured by their religious leaders to ignore social distancing and told that God will protect them. As with religious leaders in the USA and other places who feel their power and control over the minds and pockets of their followers is being threatened. Religious gatherings are one of the most serious threats society faces in dealing with this crisis.

“This outbreak has had and will have an effect on people’s daily lives. If, for example, it is found later that the virus can be transmitted in the space of four metres, then people will have to maintain a distance of at least four metres from each other"
What an idiot. It's not as simple as that. The risk just decreases a bit every metre further away you get. Particles from sneezes were found up to 9 metres away according to a study they showed last week. And particles can stay on hard surfaces like walls and floors and doors even where no covid paitients have been. In one experiment they swabbed the floor of a hospital pharmacy and found it covered with viruses in areas that patients aren't allowed. It was carried on the shoes of people who had been walking around the wards.
The politicians can say ignorant and dumb things. But this guy is a doctor. I think he is the one that said people should wear facemasks at home and stay more than 2m away from family members.

There are 2 things Prayut doesn't understand from what the cabinet minutes reveal.
1. Most countries are trying to get the transmission rate (R) below 1.0. That means an infected person infects less than 1 other person and COVID will die out on its own. When R is less than 1, counties can open up slowly trying to keep the R below 1 all the time. In Thailand R is way below 1 already. However Prayut doesn't get this. He wants R to be zero. Whenever he sees a single case he thinks there is too much transmission and social freedom and wants to keep controls and restrictions in place.
2. The lockdown means that people spread coronavirus between family members and people in the same household mainly. This is how it is supposed to be. It can't be avoided. That is the smallest unit of transmission. The text says that the new cases are from people in the same house and close contacts. This cannot be avoided even under reasonably tight lockdown. When Prayut sees any new cases at all he he thinks the cases are from community spread - people outside socialising too much and such. They are not. They are mainly unavoidable and from within households. Longer and more restrictions will not affect this.
The social distancing measures are working very well and more than enough for COVID to be contained and for the health service to cope. But Prayut sees lack of control and social disorder in every new case. It will be a long road out of this for the poor Thai people. And a very damaged economy if he carries on with these over the top curfews and alcohol bans. He needs to start to lift the restrictions now, and in a managed way.

Is it illegal to film yourself having sex. Do the police in Thailand have the right to enter your bedroom to make sure you are not filming yourself?

Years ago I had an incompetent boss. If we were working on a project that the fastest possible timing was to finish it in three months he might say out of the blue...you have to finish that project in 1 month.
He thought it was leadership. We would walk out of the room thinking this guy knows nothing. How did he get his job. And carry on as normal.
How does a moron like Anutin keep his job?

Sound like sensible regulations and if regs like this helps the government decide to open up the economy a bit then good.

Those sad clips where Johnson was visiting a Covid ward and shaking hand with patients in March. And then coming on tv to tell how he had been shaking hands with everyone. With a girlfriend, a kid on the way and a country to run. And then he nearly died. What an idiot. An incompetent at the head of government. Even if you agree with his politics and like his comedy. He is a bumbling incompetent at any job that requires organisation and planning. Always has been.

I'm pretty sure a lot of farang will want to go and live in a grown up country after this is over. One where the government is logical and doesn't treat its citizens like infants. Somewhere better like Cambodia or Vietnam or ... in fact anywhere other than Thailand.
I also bet that in Thailand and around the world in those countries where the authorities heavy-handedness went to far, the citizens will not look kindly on their governments.

Where are the Singha beer company and Chang beer company in all this? Not to mention Blend 285 fake whiskey company. Why aren't they lobbying the government? Every single (non islamic) country in the world is allowing people to drink. This Thai army government just knows how to ban things and crackdown on things. Nothing else. What a bunch of morons.

Eighty year old Frenchman arrested on Pattaya beach - wife goes to her MP, police chief says he's busy

Are the police allowed to take passports from people suspected of a crime? I mean under Thai law or even international law?
Or is the suspect allowed to say no you can't have it, it is my property, or the property of the French government?
