  1. What factual arguments should I have to refute BYD means Buy You Die? I suppose I could ask for supporting evidence? A link perhaps? Or autopsy reports of deaths due to buying? Perhaps you have ideas Jakey boy?
  2. Ho,Ho,Ho Yawn…
  3. It’s already happening, Gruber Motors in the US are already repairing batteries and Power Electronic Modules. Tesla did NOT do it right, they say their battery packs are unrepairable, hence the growth in third party service networks. MG on the other hand say if the battery fails you can just replace the faulty module. MG got it right, Tesla got it wrong.
  4. I generally prefer to break after 300km or 3 hours, my car go almost double that. Never had a fast DC charger running slowly, they generally either work or don’t work.
  5. No 2 manufacturers will implement dehumidifying the same. Some run the compressor high for some time before switching to the slowest speed. Some work by setting the temperature to 3 or 4 degrees lower but override the speed. In the end it is going to whatever you are most comfortable with. I found the dry setting on my bedroom A/C makes me too cold.
  6. I will wear my “cult” status as a badge of honor.
  7. You failed to mention that you will be able to top up the insurance on your battery. Did you? Really?
  8. You probably use electricity in your home, you are getting EMF radiation all the time. It’s nonsense to say that it has adverse health effects, except in very high, signal strength, like standing in front of a microwave transmitter.
  9. It’s a common misunderstanding, it’s not common knowledge. Batteries are expected to last around 20 years and that is based on tests carried out on used Tesla lithium ion batteries which have half the charge Cycles of modern LFP batteries. The manufacturers make no claims like you suggested. I would be very surprised if it’s anything other than fail “Safe”.
  10. This guy is now looking like an idiot. In the 6 months since his video, the Range Rover has become uninsurable and are depreciating massively in the first year. Now one of the best bargains in the 2nd hand market, but your insurance is about 50% of the value of the car each year. You’ve obviously never driven an MG EV. Utter Tosh. Many automakers both ICE and EV are reacting to sluggish sales by discounting. It’s nothing to do with Chinese EV’s. Only a few million dinosaurs were harmed in making oil for old fashioned legacy ICE vehicles. So you don’t own a mobile phone because not only is the battery technology the same, they use the battery in a way they know will kill it in 2 years, whereas the EV manufacturer guarantees their battery 8 years.
  11. China does not have fields of unsold EV’s, those reports have been debunked. What China does have is fields of EV’s from hire companies who went bust after they got their rebates, Already service networks of third parties are starting to appear, it won’t be long before Somchai will fix your EV like he repairs your washing machine motor. The electronics in PHEV is far more complex than a BEV. BEV’s are 10 times less likely to catch fire than an ICE and 140 times less likely to catch fire than a HEV/PHEV.
  12. This forum topic is about “All things cannabis”. That includes the negative and the positive.
  13. That’s not my experience, a stop every 300 to 500km is a welcome break and there is abundant charging infrastructure. Which EV do you have?
  14. Yes, that’s a great reason not to buy an electric car 555
  15. Some condo management are more enlightened than others and have already installed charging points, but right now it’s very few. You could charge it at one of the many fast DC Chargers around, but it’s probably going to take you 20-30 minutes and whilst it’s still around 2-3 times cheaper than petrol/diesel, it’s probably 1.7 to 2 times more expensive than your own charging point. If I lived in a condo I would still have an EV but it’s too much hassle for many people.
  16. Which electric scooter do you have?
  17. He did say he has found a cheaper rental company.
  18. Correct. My EV has a range a lot longer than I am comfortable doing without a break.
  19. What utter tosh. Who knows EV’s better on this forum than those who drive and own them.
  20. We have or have had 4 BEV’s, I will never buy an ICE car again. I enjoy the supercar like performance, the silence of the driving experience and waking up to a full tank of electrons. It’s also a big plus knowing it’s between 10 and 140 times LESS LIKELY to catch fire than a legacy ICE car and much less likely to break down as it has 100 times less moving parts than an ICE car.
  21. The only time I ever use my UK Credit Card is for renting a car there.
  22. I didn’t say it was, I asked if there was geographical correlation along with the temporal correlation.
  23. You have to look at this from the car rental company’s view too. All he knows is you booked a car with deposit and changed your mind. The fraudulent use of your card could have originated anywhere, and whilst there is a temporal correlation, it’s not conclusive evidence of it being from the car rental company. Are the Uber Eats transactions in the same city as the car rental company? Do you still need a rental car? I would still rent from there having put the manager on notice about the frauds and if I were the manager, I wouldn’t give you a refund either. Any (highly unlikely) future fraud would be dealt with by your bank in a timely fashion.
  24. I should have said, No issues ever on the 3 BEV’s from China. A German BEV was trailered back to the main dealer in Bangkok 2 times for air conditioning failures. The German PHEV was trailered back to the main dealer in Chiang Mai once for a failed infotainment system.
  25. Happy owner of 4 BEV’s and 1 PHEV here. No issues ever on the BEV’s.
