It is not true to say that Hybrid sales are increasing and EV sales are softening, actually the reverse is true. I asked CoPilot to compare hybrid and pure EV, it's reply is biased towards the Former Colonies but this is what it said Hybrid Cars: In 2021, hybrid vehicles accounted for 5.5% of the light vehicle market in the U.S1. In 2022, U.S. sales of hybrid vehicles reached a record high, with 801,550 units sold, representing 5% of total U.S. light vehicle sales 2. Pure Electric Vehicles (EVs): In Q4 2023, fully-electric vehicles (BEVs) achieved an all-time high market share of 8.1% in the U.S3. Throughout 2023, a total of 1,189,051 electric vehicles were sold in the U.S., surpassing the one-million mark for the first time 3. Tesla, a major player in the EV market, maintained a 50% share of the EV market in Q4 2023, down from its peak of 79% in 2020 3. Other automakers like Ford and Hyundai-Kia have also made significant strides, with the F-150 Lightning being the best-selling electric truck in America 3. In summary, while hybrid cars continue to hold a steady market share, the adoption of pure EVs is growing rapidly, driven by environmental awareness and technological advancements. 🌿🚗🔌

Thailand’s cannabis sector faces threat from recreational use ban
JBChiangRai replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Whatever you like to think, Anutin did say that recreational use was not permitted and the law had other ways to deal with that. I am happy to provide the links if you think otherwise. He said this before decriminalizing it, anybody who invested in a business for recreational use, was an idiot, and deserve whatever they get. On another note, I am surprised people deal with the retail outlets, when you can go direct of the source and get a much better price. Personally, if it’s going to be sold, I would prefer to see it sold in 7-Elevens. My friend has a large cannabis farm here in Chiangrai and he supplies most of the shops in the town center and another well-known supplier in this forum, so why pay stupid prices? -

I hate this habit of quoting prices as 4xx,000 What it says to the consumer is I can’t be trusted because I’m hiding the price from you. -
One or two year old Suzuki CIAZ, should fit in your budget

There is no evidence to suggest Thailand will miss its target of 100% EV sales by 2035. We are 11 years away and we were around 10% last year, I think we will be between 15% and 20% this year. I am very concerned that other countries like UK, EU and the Former Colonies are doing exactly the wrong thing with Chinese EV’s to accelerate EV uptake. I think they will protect their local auto manufacturers who would like nothing more than to back pedal on EV production.
-
I think the 30@30 policy is about right to achieve domestic sales to be 100% EV’s by 2035 which is also their policy, the two policies are not mutually exclusive. On the contrary they are complementary. Thailand accounts for 72% of all EV sales in ASEAN countries, so it’s only to be expected that ICE vehicles will continue to be exported and EV exports will lag behind.

I suspect DIY repair inside a modular battery might not be that difficult too. -

I think you could be right on the MG4, the EP is repairable by module according to the leaflet for the car. My friend has just crashed his MG EP+ into a ditch, he fell asleep. It will be interesting to see if he's damaged the battery. -
I am assuming that report means cars on the road as it quotes Norway with 20% whereas 90% of new cars sold in Norway are BEV's I think you mean recycling rather than destruction, Lithium is a rare earth and requires a lot of expensive processing to extract it from the dirt, whereas it exists in vast proportions in a battery, so you would obviously recycle it. The problem is, with the exception of air-cooled batteries, we are still decades away from needing to replace EV's batteries.

All MG EV's are repairable by module. Tesla claims their battery packs are unrepairable and it has spawned an industry of third party companies repairing them. I expect BYD will be the same. -
I think the reset switch on the wall charger stopping the A/C is coincidence as turning on the A/C is entirely controlled by the car and not the wall box. The A/C probably cools the battery and the AC to DC charger onboard the car which is probably getting hot. If you DC charging then the AC Charger isn't used so won't get hot. Generally speaking, if you can avoid it, don't charge your car at home until after you have let it cool down for 40 minutes or so if you were just driving it. Thailand is a hot country and your battery is going to be hotter than the ambient air if you were just driving it.

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
JBChiangRai replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I did really well selling my 2 year old Porsche EV, I lost just under 10% The UK second hand market is crashing, it’s not just EV’s, it’s all vehicles. Here in Thailand there are always just a few private sellers on One2car for any vehicle type, it’s not a level playing fiend because the dealers must add 7% VAT, but customers don’t realise that and that private sellers often represent a bargain. -
Your welcome, I got my car to display outside PM2.5, I turned off and on intelligent filtration

Air Con cooking in is probably battery temperature, that would explain the slow down in charging speed too.
