  1. I think you might have some input on that, at least I hope it’s you
  2. I meant a poll on what we think they will do, not what we want. I have a figure in mind.
  3. Exchange rate 70+ when I came here from UK, watching that slide and the uncertainty over the future was what spurred me to go Elite. Until I discovered the chocolate and wine trick my experiences dealing with immigration were ofttimes disappointing.
  4. I think it would be interesting to have a poll on what the members here think it might rise to. I have a feeling the approximate amount of the price increase will be telegraphed by the new Elite Visa prices.
  5. I am fairly sure they didn’t consider exchange rates when they set the 65k/800k, they probably set it at a level in THB that was significant in advantage to the Thai economy. It would be interesting to know what that figure would be now adjusted for inflation.
  6. Regarding liability, maybe this will explain why the tenants liability is unlimited. If you or one of your guests reverse your truck and accidentally knock down a wall, the roof falls in and the property is destroyed? Who is liable? Yes it was an accident, but it’s not the landlord’s responsibility, it’s your responsibility. There is no responsibility on the landlord to insure against your liability, and if he had, his insurance company would come after you. The big question for you is how much damage the landlord is claiming? Is it worth him pursuing legal action?
  7. I don’t deny any of what you say. I have never claimed to be virtue signaling once. I buy EV’s because of the economics and the way they drive, if it helps with the planet, then all well and good. I put solar panels in my home purely for economic reasons too. The transition to EV’s is likely to be problematic, but we are an ingenious species and will get there. Right now is the golden tine to own an EV in Thailand with a low vehicle count and an abundant (over 4,000) chargers available. I do have some concerns with battery chemistry that I didn’t consider 2 years ago. I am more knowledgeable now and would think twice about LiION or NMC, not just flammability but recharge cycles and hot temperature longevity.
  8. What about annoying trolls who try to blind you with science? IMHO life is too short and it’s all entertaining, even if their opinion is contrary to mine. I enjoy even the anti-EV’ers posts, they usually get trapped by inconvenient truths and look silly.
  9. All governments have mechanisms to flag their immigration department with details of their own citizens and foreigners they don’t want to leave the country. in this day and age, I would expect the judiciary’s computer to link to the immigration database without any human interaction to inform IO’s at ports not to allow the person to pass.
  10. I did a very foolish thing in my very expensive EV last year. After driving 90km of the 180km drive from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai, the road was flooded and only pickups were getting through. I lifted the car 3” on the air suspension and drove through the flood. The front camera was under water. The car made it, but it was an exceptionally stupid thing to do.
  11. More likely a marker was placed on the IO’s computer about the person/passport.
  12. I think you also hold a patent in the chemical field, if I am not mistaking you for someone else
  13. I will be sure to tell you. Had my car not been under warranty, my two repairs would’ve been expensive, over ฿100,000 alone in transport costs.
  14. True but partial information. It’s also much more stable than other Lithium battery types like Lithium Ion or NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) to the layman if you don’t understand chemistry.
  15. Goethe also said “Nothing is more terrible than to see ignorance in action” Try an EV to remove that ignorance.
  16. Generally, hold value. They did go up a lot about 10 years ago, when the chairman of the committee began a project of upgrading the public face of and facilities at the building, but that stopped when he resigned.
  17. I already did. My other new EV had to be collected and taken to BKK twice to repair failed air-con. i think I said our two MG EV’s were the first new cars we have ever had without a defect to be fixed under warranty.
  18. Yes it could happen. It keeps me awake at night. I need to see a shrink about it. There is another advantage in running an EV if you have an integral garage at your house. When you arrive at the house and close the garage door, there is very little heat given off the car, whereas if you’re driving an ICE car, then the heat will go up into your house and rooms above the garage.
  19. This thread is about ICE vs. EV I think we have all owned ICE vehicles If you haven’t owned or driven an EV then you should, then you can contribute from knowledge instead of ignorance, mostly prejudicial ignorance, from what I read.
