  1. Would you mind if I accept US Gov’t statistics rather than your fanciful interpretation. Data from the National Transportation Safety Board showed that EVs were involved in approximately 25 fires for every 100,000 sold. Comparatively, approximately 1,530 gasoline-powered vehicles and 3,475 hybrid vehicles were involved in fires for every 100,000 sold. http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/environment-energy-coordination/climate-matters/EV-less-fire-risk#:~:text=Data from the National Transportation, fires for every 100%2C000 sold.
  2. It was 2 years old, 16,000 on the clock, there was a long waiting list, I don’t know how long now. I am not going to break a confidence by naming the other regular EV poster who has the same car. He is a friend and I respect confidences, I have seen the car. Unlike you, the protagonists for EV’s actually own them, at least 4 of us have 2 or more. We have real world experience and are not full of hot air.
  3. Here are 3 of our EV’s, we also have an MG4 I have posted it’s photo before on another EV thread,,I don’t have a photo of it on my phone.
  4. Because I don’t like to brag. But unlike you, I know EV’s. My household has had 5 in the last 6 years.
  5. The other member prefers to remain anonymous. I sold mine on it’s 2nd birthday for 90% of what I paid new for it. At the time there was a 12-18?month waiting list for a new one. I prefer to simply call it my earlier EV, I don’t like to brag.
  6. I can see you’re finding this hard to follow, perhaps we should start with the two times table and work up from that
  7. yea really, photos sent to you DM I am not the only poster here with this car.
  8. I lost barely 10% on my Porsche Taycan selling it after 2 years here.
  9. Was she the sole perpetrator? bet she's really feeling a heel now. She needs to get her story straight, flip-flopping won't get her out of this one.
  10. It's 100% true. My leg fell off after a plane went overhead.
  11. That made me laugh. Seriously though, your knowledge and concepts are flawed.
  12. You will find depreciation figures published in every country, how many of them spout dealer margins as being relevant? I would estimate, approximately... BIG FAT ZERO Stop inventing concepts Since when was depreciation linear? You really do need a maths lesson. The Thai Big Know It All said the depreciation at 5 years was much higher for EV's than ICE. I proved that wrong.
  13. If you have X fires in 2,000,000 ICE cars and Y fires in 300,000 EV's the numbers per 100,000 are... X/(2,000,000/100,000) or X/20 for ICE Y/(300,000/100,000) or Y/3 for EV's. Maths lesson, you're welcome.
  14. That would be ridiculous. Dealer profit margins have nothing to do with secondhand values. You invented that little concept and put your on value on it, plucked from what? you're imagination? You're clutching at straws because you don't like the numbers.
  15. You're the one quoting nonsense about EV drivers not wanting to buy another one when in reality most would never buy another ICE car.
  16. Dealer markup is irrelevant, it's irrelevant new and it's irrelevant second hand. Do you want to consider manufacturer profit margins? exchange rates? If a private advertiser has his car in One2Car what dealer margin does he have? Most dealers make their profit on the finance, not on the sales price. The statistics for those 2,000,000 cars are divided by 20 to get a figure for 100,000 cars, that's how it works, comparing ICE Apples to EV Apples.
  17. Toyota don't have much Lithium battery technology experience, they mostly use Nickel Metal Hydride batteries in their Hybrids. They are way behind in this area.
  18. Knowledge about EV's? Sidney's bare.
  19. Chiang Mai is a big place, most operators only operate in a small area, where do you want it?
  20. Those numbers are harmonised based upon per 100,000 sold, they are comparing apples to apples What's this 75,000 baht dealer markup nonsense. We are comparing retail price to retail price, not adjusted by the Vinny fudge factor. Depreciation is identical, nothing in Thailand supports the myth that EV's depreciate faster, nothing, nada, zilch Nonsense, almost all EV owners wouldn't buy another ICE, you got that the wrong way around.
  21. We are in Thailand, this thread is about the Thai EV market. Try to keep on topic without hijacking it.
  22. It depends on the statistics, would you like a link that puts your argument in the crapper? The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency released a report in May 2023 outlining that ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles in Sweden were 20 times more likely to combust spontaneously compared to electric cars. Statistics Show ICE Vehicle Fires 20 Time More Likely Than EV Fires - Green Car Stocks
  23. A well thought out and argued post, pfft.
  24. You're quoting nonsense. Let's take the average price for 2019 MG ZS EV's (don't cherry pick unless it's not in your favour, it's bad manners), it is retaining 38% of it's value after 5 years, you think that's bad? The MG ZS X+ was 799,000 in 2019, the average now seems to be about 310,000, it's also retaining 38% of it's value after 5 years. QED, EV's do not depreciate any faster. Your post is nonsense and so is the guy who said they depreciate faster over 5 years. I am not calling him, but you are welcome to ask him to call me and I will tell him so to his face (I can spot reverse delegation a mile off).
  25. EV's are suitable for long distance trips, there is an excellent charging network in Thailand, they do take longer than an ICE to refuel, that may be an issue for some people. My 76-year-old lady friend has just bought an MG4 X-Power, she can only charge it PTT and other chargers around town, it doesn't seem to be a problem for her. She enjoys having a coffee at Amazon or eating at Central Plaza whilst her car charges. Most owners of the BYD Seal have probably owned a Camry or Accord, I have owned both, the Seal is a far superior car, there is no comparison in driver appeal. You are aware that an ICE car is between 13 & 140 times more likely to catch fire than an EV? Presumably you're ok with that in your basement? They don't sound like a Hoover, they are practically silent. NVH is the major contributor to driver fatigue, it's almost non-existent in an EV.
