It’s fortunate that the UK can procure excellent military hardware and systems from its own defense industry and that of other European nations. No need to spend any increase in defense budgets with a U.S. threatening trade wars against the UK while sucking up to a tyrant aggressor on Europe’s borders.

Starmer is hardly echoing Trump. He’s making the obvious observation that the UK needs to accept the U.S. is no longer a reliable defense partner and act accordingly. Macron and Merz have drawn the same conclusion.

I support Israel’s right to defend itself and I support Israel’s right to bring the Oct 7 terrorists (Hamas) and those who planned and ordered heinous terrorist attack (Hamas) to Justice which includes killing them (Hamas) However, my support for Israel in the above does not extend to Israel doing anything it chooses to further those legitimate ends. What you fail to grasp is there has never been an absolute right to privacy, technology providing inscription is a new challenge to legitimate investigation, it is providing a privacy that never existed and it is being abused by criminals.

The authoritarianism was written into the 2016 legislation and was opposed by civil liberties groups, lead by Liberty. I’m sure you backed Liberty on this at the time. Perhaps we need a standardized statement unequivocally condemning Hamas as a heinous terrorist organization and the attack by Hamas on innocent Jews and others in Israel as the heinous terrorist act that it was. It’s a clear statement that I and many critics of Israel’s war on Gaza have frequently made, so not at all contentious. We might then append that statement to any and all criticism of Israel’s war in Gaza or any statement on the rights of Palestinians. We could even have law requiring the statement to always be included when discussing anything about the plight of Palestinians or the conduct of the war in Gaza.

It’s an accusation that is frequently leveled against anyone who supports the rights of Palestinians and an end to the war.

I’m up for it Jonny. I’ve consistently argued for justice without favor.

I’m not interested in your accusations and name calling. Beyond exposing your lack of arguments and clear discomfort over the way things are going they are just background noise. You have a President who’s referring to himself as a King to defend. Put together some arguments that don’t comprise whataboutary and playground insults and we’ll discuss.

Change is happening. All we need do now is sit back and watch who suffers the most.
